Irene Dunne was one of the leading actresses of her day and excelled in comedy, drama and musicals. Unfortunately, she is not well known today. She personal life was also impressive. She had a long, happy marriage, and when she retired from films, she devoted herself to charitable and civic work. She was even appointed by President Eisenhower to serve as a delegate to the UN. Both personally and professionally she was a remarkable woman.
