Top Ten Most Pointless Star Wars Characters

The characters that Star Wars could have done without.
The Top Ten
1 Jar Jar Jar Jar Binks is a fictional character from the Star Wars saga created by George Lucas. A major character in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, he also has a smaller role in Episode II: Attack of the Clones, and a one-line cameo in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, and the television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars... read more

Now I don't watch Star Wars, but HOLY COW, this character is one the UGLIEST things I've ever laid my eyes on. I mean look at him, he's hideous. His face makes me want to vomit every time I look at it. Plus, he's supposed to appeal to kids, but I don't really understand how children are going find this character funny when they can clearly how physically unappealing this character is. They'd rather run away crying in fear and disgust! Bleugh!

No, let me explain. Without Jar jar, Qui Gon Jinn and Obi Wan Kenobi wouldn't have found the Gungan City which provided the submarine that transports them to Naboo, in which Padme rode the spaceship to Coruscant, while finding Anakin. If Jar jar wasn't alive they wouldn't have found Anakin. Without Anakin discovering his powers, there wouldn't have been any Darth Vader. So if Jar jar wasn't alive the Original Trilogy wouldn't have happened. Huh.

2 Boss Nass

I agree he is annoying, but he did provide a ship for jar jar, qui gon, and Obi wan, as well as an army to fend off the battle droids, so he is kind of important to episode one.

Looks like a giant frog!

Jabba the hut jr.

3 Rose Tico

Throughout The Last Jedi, she teaches Finn the same stuff he figured out for himself in the previous movie. Please don't hate on Kellie Marie Tran though.

They threw her in the movie because she's Asian but they forgot to give her a role. I would love a strong powerful female Asian Star Wars Character. But that's not what they have us. I love Diversity but the point of Diversity isn't just throwing a bunch of different ethnicities into a movie with no direction. We want goodly written diverse characters for representation. We're not just gonna like a character just because they are a certain race.

This list was made too early. Rose is a totally pointless character, they added her for the heck of it, she's unneeded and does nothing worth mentioning. Her kiss with Finn had no buildup, and felt forced and very awkward as a result. Hope she dies soon

4 Boba Fett Boba Fett is a fictional character in the Star Wars series. In The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, he is a bounty hunter hired by Darth Vader and also employed by Jabba the Hutt.

Let's get something straight I AM NOT VOTING. I am writing this comment. What the hell is boba fett doing on this list?!?! May I remind some people of the Star Wars expanded universe? In the EU boba became the leader of the mandalorians. And in episode five he is the ONLY one of an elite group of bounty hunters to track down Han Solo. And in the new marvel comic Star Wars: Skywalker strikes and Star Wars: Darth Vader, he tells Vader that he has a son. So boba fett is directly responsible for the ending of Star Wars the empire strikes back.

Why does everyone love Boba so much, he does nothing cool. And he has the lamest death of all time. He says nothing, does virtually nothing, and is only popular because he looks cool.

But please, go ahead. I know what your typing, tell me how he is totally redeemed in the joke of an expanded universe that is the Star Wars EU.

Not at all pointless without him han would never be frozen he caused jabbas death because of that and when he was a child he was the main clone. in the clone wars T.V. series he was very important he killed so many as well as did some good stuff so I don't see him as pointless at all

5 Jabba the Hutt Jabba the Hutt is a fictional character from the Star Wars franchise created by George Lucas. He is depicted as a large, slug-like alien. Jabba the Hutt first appeared on screen in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, and was featured in the special edition of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.

Ik he's meant to be slimy gross and dumb, but I still hate him. I feel like there should be a cooler enemy leader in the original trilogy but its still cool.

Saying he sucks because he's ugly, creepy, a criminal, ugly, slimy, fat, etc. missed the point. He's SUPOSED to be that way. Also, he plays a big role: it's because of him that Solo is captured, he composes the whole start of RotJ AND, to top it all off, he is the reason Boba, a very popular (although overrated) appears on screen

He was in episode one, four, and six. At least 3 episodes, that makes him pretty relevant.

Jabba The Hut sucks! He's so pointless. He should be #1 plus he's worst than Jar Jar binks.

6 Greedo Greedo (or Greedo the Young) is a fictional character from the Star Wars franchise. He is portrayed by Paul Blake as well as Maria De Aragon in some close-in pickup shots in Star Wars (1977).

No way should he be here. I'm not saying he plays a huge role in anything but he does two moderately important things: he helps set up han solo's character in episode IV and helped build up the events of the beginning of episode VI.

Jar Jar had some importance, as he gave palpatinr emergency powers. I hate Jar Jar much more, but Greedo was the most pointless person in the film's, as he did nothing.

What does he have to do with anything. He's on screen for about 30 seconds confronting Han then just gets his face blown up. Pointless, didn't do anything

All he did was start huge fan wars about who shot first.
Obviously, it was Han. (:
I'm talking about the original one. Not the ones George Lucas has changed. Only the original.

7 General Grievous General Grievous is a fictional character and antagonist in the Star Wars franchise. He served as the Supreme Commander of the Confederacy of Independent Systems' Droid Armies during the Clone Wars. He is voiced by Matthew Wood.

Incredible it's not Matthew Wood's fault that he was stuck with a character who was not the best in your minds but was a personal favorite of mine and the level of acting that Wood acted on WOW 11/10 mind blowing performance. If you try to voice out the General it is nearly impossible to get right and the coughing sounds so real. So overall I think what makes this character so good for me is the actor

Just the worst Star Wars character in my opinion. His fight with Obi Wan is absolute garbage filmmaking. He takes up too much screen time and just takes important time that could go into Anakin's character development or developing Obi Wan and Anakin's friendship. He's not even cool, just a stupid coughing robot that gets taken out way too easily to be seen as a threat. L-A-M-E

General Grievous Is awesome, he coughs because he is a actual cyborg. He was a reptile but got shot by Count Dooku. Dooku went and rebuild him as a cyborg which explains the lungs and the eyes sawed in III.

8 TC-14

She actually appears in Empire Strikes back. When C3PO is investigating that room in which he saw TC14 walk out of, he says hello to her and she replies with something offensive. So she does appear in more than one film, BUT she is still pointless

C3Po was fussy but he was still a hero. Tc-14 is only in for like a minute at the beginning of The Phantom menace and thinks she's in charge during her conversation with the Jedi.

I'm only voting for her because I don't want someone as awesome as Boba Fett to be in third place.

9 Rey Rey is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise, portrayed by British actress Daisy Ridley. First appearing as the central character in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rey is a scavenger who was left behind on the planet Jakku when she was a child, and later becomes involved with the Resistance's conflict with the First Order when her solitary life is interrupted by BB-8, the droid of ace Resistance... read more

She piloted the Millennium Falcon, first try. She fixed the Millennium Falcon before Han ' Solo did. She beat Kylo Ren with the force, despite not knowing what it was 24 hours previously. She had never picked up a blaster and was a perfect shot with it every time after a single miss. She beat Kylo Ren, who had presumably trained for years under Luke Skywalker and Snoke. His training wasn't complete, but it almost was, as demonstrated by the fact that he was literally undergoing a final trial of faith.
She is not useless to the Force Awakens.
But she IS useless to the entire Star Wars universe, just like the entire movie was.

The most important character in the new trilogy is not important at all sure not important. What are you guys talking about the most important person to ever walk on the new trilogy ground

It seems that the people who voted Rey into the top ten are just people who have sour grapes about the Force Awakens. Rey is actually a better character than Luke in my opinion. The main reason people hate the movie and character and the movie is because she isn't Luke and the movie isn't the originals.

10 Nute Gunray Nute Gunray is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise, appearing in the prequel trilogy and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Gunray served as the Viceroy of the Trade Federation and was a member of the Separatist Council.

This is outrageous. Now there are 2 of them. I'm surprised the other guy with Nute throughout the prequel trilogy isn't on this list.

Nute gunray is just useless he is a pawn for darth sideous and appears to have no measure of personal desire or will. We are not told his motivations and his person is just cgi useless crap

I mean, I'm not voting here, he was basically the leaded antagonist in Phantom Menace so the fact that he's here doesn't make sense.

The Contenders
11 Maz Kanata Maz Kanata is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. Introduced in the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, she is a CGI character voiced and performed through motion capture by Lupita Nyong'o.

She hasn't had a chance to do anything yet! She was in 1 movie...she will be important soon

She was an okay character. She wasn't pointless

12 Ziro The Hut
13 Jango Fett Jango Fett is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise, created by George Lucas. He made his debut in the 2002 film Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, where he was portrayed by actor Temuera Morrison.

Leads to the clone wars and was the best bounty hunter ever in my opinion for three reasons.

1. Had the clones modeled after him
2. Had the power to train a clone to be his son Boba who ended up almost as good as him
3. Killed the Jedi Master Colman Trevor in about three seconds with one but something some Sith Lord couldn't do and to boot Trevor was looking right at him

His death was so scary. I mean, you saw him get beheaded. Nobody lives through that, not for long anyway. I mean sometimes the brain is still active for a few minutes after the beheading but... To be honest you guys I can't imagine a worse kind of hell.

They could've done another storyline and not include him sure but in the story he is one of the most important characters. He is the reason the Republic had an army and without that the empire would never have came and nothing would have happened - Unnamed Google User Remade

Jango Fett had a purpose. He was the one who actually helped the republic create an army.

14 C3PO C-3PO is a humanoid robot character from the Star Wars franchise who appears in the original trilogy, the prequel trilogy and the sequel trilogy.

I love C3PO but despise R2,why do people like R2 better? 3PO is the perfect example of a brit.

I know it was too dangerous! Why can he talks 3000 languages and be afraid of everything!

No, C3PO is awesome. He appeared in every movie and face so many dangers and lived! In II with the battles droids, IV by stormtroopers, V by Stormtroopers and Darth Vader along with AT-ATs, and VI by Ewoks and Stormtroopers along with AT-STS! He is awesome and should not be on the list.

He'a the only reason I kept watching the movies to the end, without him I would have gotten bored to death.

15 Sebulba

Me. Why is anakin laying dead on the floor with blood.
Sebula. Uh.
Me. I will kill you
Sebula. Ah.
Blood flies

He just added more minutes to the already horrible Phantom Menace

16 L3-37
17 Finn FN-2187 (Finn) is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. He first appeared in the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens in which he is a stormtrooper for the First Order who flees and turns against it after being shocked by their cruelty in his first combat mission. He is portrayed by English ...read more.

He doesn't do anything. Rey is our hero! Replace this character with Rey right now!

I know sidekicks are almost always useless but he just sucks at everything he does. like he had combat training in the empire and still managed to get stunned by a riot trooper while weilding a lightsaber.

Finn is awesome there is nothing wrong with him if anything he is better than jar jar

18 Padme Amidala Padmé Amidala is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise, appearing in the prequel trilogy portrayed by actress Natalie Portman.

Padme didn't need to exist, in fact, the entire prequel trilogy never had to exist for Star Wars to tell a whole story. The original trilogy told us enough about Darth Vader's backstory. It's clear George wanted to capitalize on the name of Star Wars for as long as possible. Unlike her daughter, Padme is a bland character with no spunk or charisma. She's just boring to watch. And she has the worst character downgrade in Star Wars history. By ROTS, Padme was restricted to being a housewife who dies of a broken heart. Sad that she couldn't even live for her children. No offense to Natalie Portman, it's not my intention to make fun of her. In the story, she is obviously important though as she is the wife of Darth Vader and the mother of Luke and Leia, but she didn't need to exist.

I am outraged at whoever thinks Padme's character is pointless. Did she not fight in battles? Did she not give birth to Luke and Leia? If it wasn't for Padme, we wouldn't have Darth Vader. Padme was what let Anakin to the dark side, in fear that he would lose her. It was all about her.

19 Zam Wesell

She doesn't exactly have a big part. She could have been as good as other bounty hunters if jango didn't kill her. She's a great female role that probably could have gone further. But lucasfilm gave her a 5 minute part and then she died. Classic for star wars

There may not be much said about her, but I on the other hand thought that she was one awesome bounty hunter.

20 Darth Maul Darth Maul is a fictional character in the science fiction franchise Star Wars. Trained as Darth Sidious's first apprentice, he serves as a Sith Lord and a master of wielding a double-bladed lightsaber. Darth Maul debuted in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, and has made subsequent appearances ...read more.

This character had no reason to exist for 13 years. Until 2012 he was only a cool looking Sith. He had no large influence on the star wars galaxy. He was just there to look cool. It wasn't until he was put into the Clone Wars that he actually did something and even then all he did was get in the way of Obi Wan, do some stuff on Mandalore, and make Ezra act like he was going to the dark side for a couple of episode.

Most overrated character. All he did was a random with lord who barely was scene in 15 minutes of the film. His only point was to kill qui gon forcing Obi wan to take anakin as his padawan, which might I add anyone could have done. In reality, he is just an overrated guy with horns and face paint, and a useless double sided lightsaber. Seriously, what is the point to that?

Darth Maul is even more important than every other Star Wars character combined including Luke! So anyone who thinks Darth Maul isn't important can just go ahead and choke on a muffin because they are all complete IDIOTS!

Maul was only created to look cool, he serves no real point (like many of the new characters in phantom menace) and to make him worse, he somehow survived being cut in half and fought in the clone wars.

21 Watto

Uglier than my sister. Well, maybe not.

22 Admiral Holdo
23 Ezra Bridger Ezra Bridger is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise, serving as the protagonist of the animated series Star Wars Rebels. A force-sensitive orphan from the planet Lothal, Ezra Bridger encounters the Ghost Crew, where he is trained by Jedi Kanan Jarrus. He was voiced by Taylor Gray in Star Wars Rebels and portrayed in Ahsoka by Eman Esfandi.

Who's this half Indian half Arabian bad face who could draw this and say oh yes lets make a star wars animation with him I mean who's deciding this I would say this is the worst star wars character ever and seriously just look at his dumb face and bad hair Disney should kill him before he lays eggs... pointless and dumb nothing more..

He was part of the original rebels! Before a new hope and everything! He played a part by kicking off the entire rebellion

The most annoying and terrible character of all...even worse than Jar Jar. Holdo, Rose, Jyn round out the top five worst.

24 Jyn Erso Jyn Erso is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise, portrayed by English actress Felicity Jones in the 2016 film Rogue One.

The protagonist overshadowed by all the supporting cast in all possible ways: acting, dialogue, development, charisma, action scenes...
She's the most derivative and bland character of the Disney era.

She was a main character in one movie! That is not pointless non - sensicle espes!

Kinda ugly but kinda hot.

25 Kylo Ren Kyle Ren, also known as Ben Solo, is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. Kylo Ren commands the First Order with a temper as fiery as his unconventional lightsaber. Ren first appeared in 2015's Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. Ben Solo, the son of Han Solo and Princess Leia, was ...read more.

Jar Jar was, for a long time, the worst Star Wars character ever made, but now, ever since Kylo Ren's behaviors took place, and because of what he did to one of the best characters of all time, he now surpasses Jar Jar as the worst SW character of all time.

Seriously #28. Kylo Ren is the weakest villain in history and plus the top 4 pointless star wars characters are:
4. Jango Fett
3. jar Jar Binks
2. Kylo Ren
1. Jabba The Hut

Ugh I hate this angry spoiled brat, he's just as bad as Jar Jar. Note to Kylo Ren in a stereotypical Brooklyn accent: Sweetie if you wanna imitate your grandfather next time remember to take off your mask in the last movie not the first one. Also why are Maz Katana and Supreme Leader Snoke not on here?

He is a wannabe, washed up, sorry-sack, pitiful, patricidal pathetic clone of Vader. Kylo Ren is worse than Jar Jar.
