***
This list is inspired directly by IronSabbathPriest and his list "Reasons Why Metal Is Dying In 2015". I agree with his list but I think the truth is somewhere in between.

The Top Ten
1 Metal Is the Most Popular Genre On Spotify

May, 2015 - Spotify published some interesting statistics from their files.

It's easy to think that pop music is the most popular genre in the world, especially if you listen to radio a lot, but that's not the case - at least according to Spotify stats.

It turns out that globally, metal is usually in the top 5 genres. The genre also has the most listener loyalty, with pop a distant second, followed by folk, country and hip-hop.

The most popular metal artists on Spotify include Metallica, Slayer, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Sepultura, Pantera, Cradle of Filth and Anthrax.

Of course, this is no surprise to metal fans, but the major labels should take note. There are some hard core fans there that still buy physical product.

Metal is a bad genre, there's a reason it's dying away

2 Heavy Metal is at #1 on the list 'Top Ten Best Music Genres'

The list 'Top Ten Best Music Genres' gives representative and reliable info because it has accumulated lots of votes (over 9,000).

"This list was created 7 years, 58 days ago and has been voted on over 9,000 times. This top ten list contains 252 items, has been remixed 127 times and has been blogged about 4 times."
Updated August 24, 2015

By the way, Thrash Metal is at #7. So metal is in the Top 10 twice.

8 Several Metal Fans Are Doing a Great Job On TheTopTens

Thank you for a mention, but I already made a list entitled "Reasons why it's alive and thriving in 2015". It was a duality lists that stated arguments and counter arguments. Although this list is better. Don't worry, like you, my opinion on whether it's dead or not lies in between.

At least I have to mention IronSabbathPriest because this list was inspired by him and his list "Reasons Why Metal Is Dying In 2015".
I'm so glad IronSabbathPriest isn't into poser metal bands or bands that are barely metal. He knows good metal.

9 Slayer Album Due In Sept 2015

Ryan Rimmel said he had heard in advance some cool track samples from this album and I hope, again, to hear songs for at least 4/5.

Slayer still puts on an incredible live performance 30+ years into their career
