Top 10 Reasons Why Pop is the Most Hated Genre in Musiclovestarlist so a lot of peole hate pop music so i made this list
The Top TenXW
It disgusts me that there are many fantastic singers who can't get work and yet guys who use autotune can. While I don't mind it if it's used for effect (like on Daft Punk's One More Time), when it's used to hide the fact that one can't sing for toffee, then it infuriates me. The worst thing to happen to music in the last 20 years of which started out (like of a lot of bad pop trends) in the 90's. Cheers Cher! - Mrveteran
Actually classic pop singers like elvis presley didn't use auto tune. That's why I only listen some of the old pop songs - zxm
#BrunoMars is the best singer today, he don't need autotune cause studio and live is same sound.V1 Comment
I will said this once, so I will say it again. Just because there aren't any instruments does not devalue the quality of music. The electronic genre itself is full of talented producers who manage to take a variety of sounds and make it sound cohesive. Of course, there is good and bad pop music, but using instruments as an excuse not to listen to a song really limits your scope.
Usually, I don't mind the lack of instruments in music. There here been good musicians who don't play, and awful ones who can (Nickelback anyone? ). Still, the fact that the majority of today's performers can't play is another layer to the lack of individuality in today's music scene. - Mrveteran
"I will said (sic) this once..." Say it 'til the mountains are blown to dust--you'll still be wrong. It's artificial. It's FAKE. It's dehumanized. Doesn't matter if humans are turning knobs and sliding slides. That. Doesn't. Make. Them. Musicians. Therefore, they are not making music. Not in any desirable sense.
Try mix balance. Try tone control. Try making a melody that has both flavor and power, while still keeping the other components intact. It takes talent to make quality production, just as much as instrumentation. - WonkeyDude98
Well, I guess you have your own opinion. I won't argue with it. - McgillacuddyV3 Comments
Like I said, the mainstream is a very, very, VERY limited scope of pop music. If you want good pop music, look to Beyoncé's new album, or CHVRCHES, or twenty-øne piløts, or Maroon 5's earlier work, or even Carly Rae Jepsen's E*MO*TION album. - WonkeyDude98
No longer are there any Mercurys, Dickinsons, Halfords, Houstons, Careys, Franklins, Jacksons etc. in today's industry. Most singers you hear are either mediocre pub/karaoke singers or are so drenched in autotune that you can't tell. The best pop singer today is Ariana Grande and even then her material isn't really up to scratch. To summarise, there is a lack of talented singers in the pop scene and those who are have nothing to work with. Amazing. - Mrveteran
No longer are there Scott Stapps, or Austin Winklers, or Chad Kroegers. Now we have Josh Ramsays, Lauren Mayberrys, Carly Rae Jepsens, and Tyler Josephs. There's only a few talented singers in the mainstream, yes, but pop as a whole is up to par with a lot of the "best" genres. - WonkeyDude98
If by "purists" you mean people who've been listening to, and often making, music for many years, and who actually enjoy multiple types of GOOD music, then yes. You don't have to be an "elitist" to not "dignify" pop and rap. You simply need to have ears, and an experienced understanding of the difference between music and, well, NOT music.
It takes being a trend follower under 11 or being completely delusional to call pop and rap "not music". There's a VERY limited range to what is "not music".
I will say this one more time: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "GOOD" MUSIC.
No, you don't have to be an elitist to be disinterested in pop and rap. Yes, you DO need to be elitist to not treat it with respect. It's absolutely hilarious how you tell me I don't have ears because I enjoy lesser known acts of great genres, when you portray all the reasons that most purists don't have the brain capacity (key word "most") to look further into their own favorite genres, much less genres that have some pretty bad exteriors. Nope, always the forefront.
Multiple types eh? You mean metal, maybe two of its subgenres, and maybe rock?
ENOUGH with this "you don't understand music" pretentious bull, when you don't even understand the most basic premise of the genres you're ...more - WonkeyDude98
I don't know who you were hanging out with, but there are good and bad people everywhere.
If I'm frank, it's the opposite.
And before I get garbage for the fifty millionth time, I get that not all rock and metal fans (actually, not any) are pop-and-rap-hating trend-followers who hate everything mainstream. The issues I have with the fanbase are the PURISTS. The elitists who think pop and rap can never be treated with any dignity. - WonkeyDude98
It's annoying when you always hear ANY genre of music, not just pop - RandomWeirdo
That's the only explanation. After all, who else is buying this stuff? - Mrveteran
Being "well-respected" (whatever that means) is certaintly no guarantee of taste. Faulty logic.
"Kids like pop music so much"
So that's how well-respected 15-34 year old men claim to love pop music, eh? - WonkeyDude98
Most people do say it's only the music video for Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus that's bad, not the song itself, though I still hate Miley Cyrus myself as she is now. - ModernSpongeBobSucksV1 Comment
If I only heard rock music, it's arguable I'd get sick of it faster, since in rock, even if there are recognizable changeups, there is a formula followed. - WonkeyDude98
Yes ONLY their looks, not stage presence not general musical knowledge. And they NEVER EVER think about their voice. EVER - RandomWeirdo
Only the ones who don't respect themselves, or boy bands. - WonkeyDude98
