Top 10 Reasons Why Super Mario 64 Is the Best Mario Game Ever

This does not at all refer to the DS version. This all refers to the original N64 version. Super Mario 64 is the true top 1 best Mario game ever, and at least the top 2 best Nintendo game ever! Overall, this is at least the top 5 best video game ever. I am on par whether the underrated Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins or Super Mario 64 (on the Nintendo 64 and Wii Virtual Console and even the more poorly known iQue Player, not the DS version) is the true best Mario game ever.

Super Mario 64 gets over 1000/100 stars, the DS version gets 61/100 stars.
The Top Ten
1 The Graphics/Visuals

I'm sorry, but these graphics are a little out-dated. I'm not saying graphics make the game, but compared to the other games this one doesn't have that good of graphics... I still love the game and its one of my favorites but this game doesn't have that impressive of graphics right now, back then yes but not now.

This game has the best graphics for any Mario. It's detailed, creative and realistic. Why do they get so much hate in general?! Just love these graphics, please!

Why do the visuals of the N64 version of Super Mario 64 get so much hate? Even critics love it. Come on! The polygons may give eyesores to us, but this game has the best graphics for any Mario.

It has the worst graphics for any Mario. The old games were top of their era, while this was just a baby for 3d games. The polygons hurt my eyes.

2 Shifting Sand Land and Snowman's Land

This deserves the top 1 spot. Two of the greatest levels in the top 1 greatest video game ever get at least 1000000/100 stars.

These two level's weren't my favorites, but that's not to say they're not good!

3 The Music

Especially the wing cap music of course, I could never hate this game and I will never hate it.

Three words: The Staff Roll

Dire Dire Docks...

4 The Courses

All the courses in Super Mario 64 get over 1000000/100 stars. I especially love Shifting Sand Land and Snowman's Land.

The courses in its DS remake, however, get 55-75/100 stars.

5 Its Nostalgia Level Is Very High

This video game makes me very nostalgic. There is nothing I do not like about Super Mario 64, except for the Bowser kidnaps Peach business (which went downhill since Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World), nor even the camera angle (which I am actually adept with). I only have the DS version, though. I would strongly prefer the N64 version and even the Wii Virtual Console version.

Who else is still trying to find a ds version. I have only ever found one, but it was too expensive. Same with Partners in Time, but without the case. I better wait for the Partners in Time remake.

Well, along with a couple of other games, Super Mario 64 is, for me, pretty much the definition of nostalgia.

6 The Secrets

Whether it's the red switch mission, the green switch mission or the blue switch mission, this game will always be the top 1 best video game ever or so AT LEAST the top 2 best video game ever. I am on par whether Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins and Call of Cuty: Modern Warfare 3 are the true best video games ever besides Super Mario 64 for the N64.

7 The N64 Version Is Way Better Than Any Other Video Game

HeavyDonkeyKong, Super Mario 64 (N64) is your top 7 favorite video game ever. But maybe you like it a little more due to nostalgia. Ah, punching Goombas in the face...

I strongly agree with you. Best graphics, best music, (almost) best EVERYTHING! This does not refer to the DS version at all.

Do you mean the best video game?

8 It Revolutionized Gaming
9 The Usage of 3D Gameplay

Man, Mario has his best design in this game, and Supermarioglitchy4 made things even better.

Man, I love how the 3D gameplay is! It's so amazing!

10 The Wing Cap

I love the use of the Wing Cap! It's so fantastic, and it provides the top 1 best music track of all time ever!

The Contenders
11 The Sliding Missions

Am I the only one that had more trouble with the penguin race than the secret slide at Tall Tall Mountain?

Man, they're so fun with beautiful backgrounds!

12 The Bowser Levels

I especially love (with all my heart) Bowser in the Fire Sea. This is a reference to the N64 version.

Graphics suck but listen to the music in these levels... if only the ds version had less awkward controls

13 Mario's Design

Mario's design has aged horribly but back then looking at a 3D Mario Game was graphical NIRB+VANNA!

14 It's very fun

This game is very funny instead of this new games.

15 Not too easy, not too hard

It's only too easy when fighting the big bob omb and its only too hard with Mario wign over the rainbow (sorry if I got the name wrong! )

16 The Level Designs
17 So Much Creativity
18 Dire Dire Docks
19 Superb Controls

If the ds version had better controls, I might like the DS version better! However, the controls int he DS version are very awkward in my opinion!

20 All of Its 120-star Missions

I especially love the Red Switch Cap missions. It gives me perfect memories.

21 Princess Peach does not sound annoying

Her voice has zero emotion whatsoever in my opinion! However, this game is still awesome!

Emotion can't matter anymore...

22 It looks like Australia in the N64 version
23 The enemies
24 Mario's Voice

Mario's voice is so good and iconic!

25 The Boss Battles
