The Contenders: Page 8XW
This movie is sadder than I thought possible. It's so sad that an early friendship that was going to become such a close one was ended in such a brutal way. The depth of this movie is also a strong point that makes it even sadder. (SPOILER ALERT) It's just downright depressing to think that Davy at an older age would still remember Meg, remember how lovely she was when she still walked the Earth, but now only forever grieve on how the thing that was so dear to him was taken away, forever. There's so much nostalgia in the movie, like the picture Meg drew, and how (older) Davy still visits the lake where he first met Meg, and still sees her in the reflection. I highly recommend that anyone who can handle a bit of violence watches it. You'll probably cry every time you do.
This is a true story about a girl who lives with her evil step mum who torches her till death evan at young love the girls boyfriend will stay with her he nearly rescued her but she sadly died in his arms this movie is TRUE
Oh yes this movie is so sad! I had everyone at work watch it, and they all cried. Goos movieV1 Comment
It should be in top ten list. One of best family drama movie which make anybody cry. And one of the best performance by Leonardo DiCaprio and Johnny Depp.
Number 1. No doubt
Just a reminder how bad that day was on September 11 2001. One of the saddest scenes was watching the guy falling from one of the towers.
Yes this is a lot sadder than titanic, I mean that was a love story not a movie about tragedy
I cried from the moment the two towers went down to the end of the credits. it was so sad. until I watched the movie I din't really get how bad 9/11 was but this movie not only changed my thoughts about 9/11 it changed me forever. the saddest movie I ever saw. a close second would be forrest gump or toy story 3. but this one made me cry 10 times more then themV1 Comment
Only movie which made me cry. The lullaby is the saddest moment in all movie history. And maybe its just because I am from Balkan.
Very sad! And What? The Notebook wasn't sad - Alexandr
One of the better movies I've ever watched in my entire life.
I don't want to spoil it for anyone but I highly recommend to watch it. !
Amazing, powerful movie, sadly terribly over-looked and too little known.
If more people would know this film, it would be in the Top 20, at least.
It's a new film, I saw it two weeks ago in the movies, and it's about a lady developing Alzheimer's, I cried 3 times.
Spider-Man is this idiot who thinks he's the best. He's also a Mary Sue (and I know what a Mary Sue is) - DontMakeARookieMistake
I don't understand how this got on the list of sad movies!V1 Comment
One of the saddest movies ever! If you have a family this movie will really hit you where it hurts. I would never want to experience the things that have happened to Adam Sandler's character.
This is the only movie that has ever made me cry. I have only watched it twice and I cried both times. It deserves to be much higher then it is.
This should be named at least top 20
This movie got to meV3 Comments
This is probably the saddest movie I have ever seen (besides the Titanic) It shows that life doesn't have to be perfect for love to be extraordinary. SPOILER! It was so devestating when Augustus tells Hazel that his cancer was back and his PET scan 'Lit up like a Christmas tree'. But the saddest part was at the pre funeral when Hazel gives her eulogy and says to Augustus: ' Gus, my love, I cannot tell you how thankful I am for our little infinity. You have given me a forever within the numbered days and I am, forever greatful. ' And then straight after that scene you see Hazel in her bed wearing Augustus' T shirt with her voice over saying 'Augustus Waters died eight days later'. And in the scene Hazel hears the phone and she knows that Gus has now moved on. She then starts to cry, seconds later her mother and father come in and Hazel stars to ball her eyes out (and the rest of the people in the cinema). Why is this movie at the bottom of the list?
I think it's a tragic story that very much reflects on the truth of our sad and inevitably short lives. But what Hazel and Gus share and experience is like no other; the story made me laugh and cry, at the friendship and love that the two share. They feel pain like we do, and suffer the sweetest of bitter romances. All I can say is, watch this with a box of tissues. Or you'll very much regret it.
This movie is Both moving and sweet, there is so much that makes you think of life and what we have, watching "The Faults in our stars" made me cry both because of how touching it was and because it Gave me a feeling of happiness but hints of sadness. The Faults in our stars is worth the watch
When I clicked this list I expected this at number one lolV28 Comments
This was a great film but it was very sad when toothless was drowning. And the ending was touching. Love this movie
From beginning to end, did not cry just because it was sad, but also very touching. A film to remember by
It's really fantastic movie. In this movie children teaches how to train their dragon. Finally find the love between father & son. It is funny & emotional movie. Some time I laughed & some timei cried. I think so everyone should watch this movie.

Watch and see by yourselves.
When he has to face the fact that he's going to die. Cried. So. Much
Snape's memories. Wow. I'm used to seeing Snape as a stoic, stern man, but seeing him completely broken down got to me.
I remember watching this. I cried so hard when I saw Fred, Remus, Tonks, Dobby, Snape, Hedwig, and Harry die. (Some of those were DH P.1, but I consider them the same thing) I had already knew they would die, but seeing them as real people and reliving the hardest deaths of my childhood made me cry all over again. Two of the saddest deaths happened here: Dobby and Fred. Also, this movie marked the end of the movies. The books had already ended, though...
Snape's death was the best death scene in cinema history, period.
I cry every single time I watch this movie. Her pain really speaks to me and it's wounding to know the horrors a person can go through.
I actually got angry when I saw this not on the list, one of the only movies to make me cry genuine tears of sadness as well as joy. although it differs to the book greatly it is still a great movie which deserves to be in the top 10 of this list.
The cruelty to the main character is so heart breaking, everything she loves is taken from her and she's always told shes ugly and stupid.
I love this film for showing how strong and beautiful some people are..
Why is this not even in the top hundred!V1 Comment
What! 147th place this movie is so sadV2 Comments
While more on the contemporary side (the 1970's made the best of the saddest), I was thoroughly pulled into this movie. Very emotional!
