Not too many out there that enjoy black and white films anymore. So sad. It's a cultural testimony that has something to do with unenlightened rebellious youth that says everything has to be instantly gratifying and spontaneously satisfying and in color or right now or done yesterday. The original King Kong was only about 9 inches tall and they used stop motion photography which meant they would shoot a frame and move the puppet or figure just a little and then shoot another frame. This took weeks to shoot just a few minutes and had to be repeated if not done correctly. I can only hope there are those young people out there that appreciate black and white films especially the really so bad their good black and white monster films like, The Giant Claw, From Hell It Came, and Robot Monster. Truly awful but so much fun to watch and unintentionally funny. However if you have to watch color, watch the most recent King Kong. That is a great King Kong movie. This one on the cover is the ...more
It was really those native warriors that gave me the heebie-jeebies!
This movie sucks. It's not scary at all. I don't even know why they call it a horror movie. Seriously man it sucks. Bla bla bla. Okay I am done.
It was also directed by the director of nightmare on elm street 4.
Pretty Gruesome. Should be in top 100.V1 Comment
Good vampire movie but dark and could have used a little more humor in some other areas to help break up the gore and violence. Still, exceptionally well done. Watch the other two sequels which you may find even better. Love the special effects in this one. Done very well.
He who walks behind the road... Or something like that
How has this been missed
Why is this so low?
Tall man was frightening somewhat. The ball shocked me a little and grossed me out at first but then I wanted to see more flying ball attacks. Should have been more. Sequels not as well done as the original as in most films with the exception of "Aliens".
This is a claasic scary movie from the '70's. What is wrong with you people. I nguess you are just not old enough to remember. I might the director Don Coscarelli at Texas Frightmare Fest last year. He is really cool. He actually wrote this movie when he was 17. Scariest movie ever, should be number 1.
How is this terrible excuse for a movie even one bit considered scary!?
This is by far the scariest movie ever.
The live action smurfs look so scary!V2 Comments
Considering it's over 40 years old, this film has aged very well. One of the earliest examples of the "Slasher" genre and it's still topping most of its successors. - BKAllmighty
Wow... #193 seriously?
This movie is terrifying and scarier than almost all the movies on this list... You NEED to see it. It is one of the only horror movies that managed to legitimately scare me. See it, Agnes.
How did this movie not make it on the list? This movie is one of the best suspenseful and scary movies I have ever seen flat out.
Sci-Fi scary! Moody, dark anticipation. Evil loss of humanity from the lead character, and mental trauma.V1 Comment
Seriously, people? I've seen The Conjuring, The Ring (when I was 9) and many of those films in the TOP 50 of this list, and none of them could touch Black Swan. It's just so frightening because she is afraid of herself. And it's all just so well made and artistic and the atmosphere is so beautifully crafted..
And all those horrible scenes, like when Wiona Ryder stabbed herself in the face. That's the only scene in the history of film that I couldn't watch.
This is by far the scariest film I've seen. I'm mean, films like The Conjuring are fun because they are filled with jump-scares and you feel enterntained and pumped when they are over. But I couldn't sleep well for 4-5 days after seeing Swan, and I can't say this for any other film.
Scariest movie ever. The atmosphere. Wiona stabbing herself in the face. It's the only scene in the history of film that I couldn't watch.
It's really a shame that there are so many out-dated films in the top 50 like Jaws, Psycho, Halloween, Alien, etc. and this isn't there.
Out of all the new horrors from the TOP 10 I've seen The Conjuring and The Ring, and both of those films combined can't touch the Swan because it potrays a decline into madness from the point of the mad person.
I couldn't sleep well for 4-5 days after seeing it and I can't say that for any other movie. And beyond all, it's a true masterpiece. So beutifully crafted...
The smile on his face is blood, because he carved himself a smile. Isn't that scary? - Alpha101

It is scary. I seen it in the theaters and wow I was freaked! #1 movies I've seen yet!
This movie was not scary. Do not vote for it. What a joke. Lousy writing, lousy everything. - BKAllmightyV1 Comment
Just look at that title! Such a scary movie. Other movies have jumpscares or freaky plots and such. But this movie right here. It is downright horrible. Just watch the movie. It's scary because its THAT bad. Scary that someone made this movie.
I was so terrified of this movies terrible acting that I just could not watch more than 10 minutes of it.
Me and my cousin went to the movies to see this, and the end terrified us. At the jumpscare at the end, I curled up in a ball on the seatV1 Comment
The only kind of scary jump scare was the bloody hand on the window.
It's not scary, it's just surprises.V2 Comments
When I was about 9 I watched this movie and when he drank from the cup and turned into a skeleton I was FREAKED OUT, It gave me nightmares for about a year.
That's The Last Crusade not Raiders of the Lost Ark but it is scary with the face melt sceneV1 Comment
