Top 10 Similarities Between Megadeth's and Iced Earth's Dystopia Albums

2011 - Iced Earth's album Dystopia came out
2016 - Megadeth's album Dystopia came out

I don't think Megadeth ripped off Iced Earth's ideas but these similarities just don't look good. Maybe it's not very important and this just means that two American metal bands think in the same direction.
The Top Ten
1 The same album title

To be honest, I don't think these similarities matter anything when it comes to how much they influenced each other. There is only one reason about the music (both are metal), the others are about the album cover (which is slightly concluding from the album title) and things that are true for a whole lot of albums (American, 2010s, having a title track, title track being the most popular).

2 Both album cover arts are mostly grey
3 The title tracks became the most popular songs from the albums

I am not sure what the point of this list is most of these seem to be somewhat trivial similarities the only similarity that about the actual music is that they are both metal.

4 On both albums there's a song called Dystopia
5 Both albums are metal
6 Both albums' cover art features technology and urban scenes

Jon Schaffer of Iced Earth explained: "Dystopia" takes place "in a time when people are in highly controlled prison-like city states".
Megadeth cover concept: Vic Rattlehead is depicted as a cyborg, with a virtual reality headset in place of the riveted visor, a headset instead of metal caps on the ears, and a mouthpiece resembling a mask.

7 Both albums featured new band members after a serious crisis in the band: Stu Block for Iced Earth and Kiko Loureiro for Megadeth
8 Both albums' cover art looks post-apocalyptic
9 Both albums came out after 2010
10 Both albums are by American bands
