Songs With the Most Beautiful Lead Vocals

The fourth installment in my "Songs With the Most Beautiful..." series.
The Top Ten
1 Nella Fantasia - Jackie Evancho

There is no one who comes close to this young lady. No one.

A voice so pure, beautiful and uplifting that many people of all ages shed tears on listening to her.

Watch her sing this for Sharon Osbourne on "The Talk" and you can't help feeling uplifted.

This child has ruined every other singer, male or female, for me. Ever. She is a little goddess.

2 God Only Knows - The Beach Boys

Carl Wilson didn't even crack Rolling Stone's Top 100 Vocalists list. Bloody shame. Even Paul McCartney (see below) has to strain a bit when he sings God Only Knows. Carl doesn't even sound like he's trying.

Hello PetSounds. I just had to come back to this beautiful list to vote for God Only Knows. I'm sure you can appreciate why...

It appears Jackie Evancho has attacked your list! I need repellent.

I really like this song a lot every single time I hear it on the radio.

3 Bridge Over Troubled Water - Jackie Evancho

Sung at a charity event by Jackie Evancho. The most beautiful rendition of this song ever done.

Absolutely fantastic version by Jackie. She's the best. Thanks to Paul for writing this song for Jackie!

Sung at Cirque du Soleil's "One Night for ONE DROP" charity gala. Look for the YouTube video.

Paul Simon did NOT write this song for Jackie - that's ridiculous! He wrote the song with Art Garfunkel for EVERYONE to enjoy. She sings this song as a cover, NOT an original song for her. Furthermore, there are better versions of this song than Jackie's.

4 Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon & Garfunkel

This is an incredibly moving song. One of the best songs ever, yeah!

Someone tell me why is some random cover above this classic?

Best Vocal Performance Ever

5 Here, There and Everywhere - The Beatles

The lead vocal, and indeed the whole song, was inspired by God Only Knows (see above). Paul rarely uses falsetto, but he does it masterfully.

Gives me shivers

6 The Show Must Go On - Queen

Freddie always put so much into his songs, there will never be anyone like him, freddie was the best singer to ever live

Hey Jude ahead of The show must go on? Are you kidding?

9th? ! The best singer sang this song and he was amazing in it!

Hey Jude is definitely better.

7 White Christmas - Bing Crosby
8 Whispering Wind - Moby

I listened to this song for the first time today. The lead vocal is unlike anything I've ever heard. Thank-you, PositronWildhawk.

9 Hey Jude - The Beatles
10 Hey You - Pink Floyd
The Contenders
11 Walk Away - Matt Monro

My heart misses a beat when I first hear Matt's warm voice on this song and leaves me quite breathless and in tears... It's just... Beautiful.

12 Rainbow Eyes - Rainbow

Ronnie James Dio, aka Mr. Golden Voice for a reason.
Very powerful yet velvety voice. Great vocal technique.
Dio's voice and the song in general sound like a music message from the center of the Universe.

13 Life is Beautiful - Luminous
14 If You Could Read My Mind - Gordon Lightfoot
15 Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen

This should be first.

16 Poor Man's Moody Blues - Barclay James Harvest

... But they're not!

17 I Want to Know What Love Is - Foreigner
18 Path of Glory - Demons & Wizards

A definition of beautiful modern vocals, especially the beginning of the song.

19 The Winner Takes It All - Abba

Amazing! Agnetha's voice cries through this song with pain! Just remarkable how she can sing such a devasting song with emotion!

20 In My Time of Need - Opeth

Very beautiful voice and melody.

21 Can We Still Be Friends - Todd Rundgren
22 Yesterday - The Beatles
23 Fiddler on the Green - Demons & Wizards

Beautiful, emotive and expressive modern vocals. Vocal perfection leaves me in awe.
A hauntingly beautiful and sad song with relevant vocals.

24 For My Lady - The Moody Blues
25 Thank God It's Christmas - Queen

The most beautiful vocals from Freddie.
