41 Losing My Religion - R.E.M. Losing My Religion - R.E.M.

This song is so beautiful to my ears and soul. I can't help, but to sing it and the simplicity; yet hidden meanings and phrases are just to fantastic! Gawd I love R.E. M! They are true geniuses who have tapped into something that very few ever do. The melody is just enchanting. I wish them the best always!

Amazing song. Some of the most beautiful and thought-provoking lyrics ever written. Should be ranked much higher.

I love this song. We can all associate this song with ourselves at some point in our lives. This is like heaven to me! R. E. M is a true artist.

Well I'm atheist

42 Strawberry Fields Forever - The Beatles Strawberry Fields Forever - The Beatles

Personally I think that the Beatles were the best band to ever be, and more of their sons should be on this list. This song is awesome and has so much meaning in it. I am glad that it is on this list, but I think it should at least be in the top 20.

Should be way higher! Also I can't understand how there's only one single Beatles song in the top 100! - elin_m

my fave song ever=) love this and not everyone could understand what is it about but it makes me feel better

Before I liked the beetles, this was the first song I listened too. It should be around the top 20, maximum 25.

43 Fade to Black - Metallica Fade to Black - Metallica

Why the hell isn't this in the top ten? This belongs among the ranks of stairway to heaven and bohemian rhapsody. - aman28

Most complete song ever, so soft in verse, then the chorus roars out. Features the best solo ever.

This song is the essential nature of Metallica, begins with a slow beautiful melody and then it turns heavier as it progresses.

BEST SONG EVER! I want this song to play at my funeral - Nintendonix

Should be in the top 5

44 With or Without You - U2 With or Without You - U2

I don't know why this is put so below. This and 'All I want is you' are the most favorite song I have ever heard.

U2 is one of the best bands out there, and this is defiantly one of their best. Along with One, Sunday Bloody Sunday, and maybe Desire, U2 really has some of the best music out there. Few bands can combine lyrics with quality music, but U2 and With or Without You nails it

Awesome song. Should rank higher than other songs that really don't deserve such a high spot on the list.

I understand that this many not have the "gravity" of some others on the list, however, this song (with U2's "Pride") inspired many anthem songs to follow; I.e. Killers, Coldplay, Green Day, etc.

45 Fix You - Coldplay Fix You - Coldplay

Its really very shameful for Coldplay lovers that there is not even a single song of Coldplay in top 100. All of you don't know the true meaning of song. Coldplay is best...

I just like the way this song makes me feel and reminds me a girl that I really love, I really do...

Amazing
Really really brilliant song
Its really stupid that Coldplay doesn't have anything in top 100

It's so amazing it makes Sarah happy

46 Changes - Tupac Changes - Tupac

Definitely my favourite song of all time. Yet I guess people who like this sort of music don't spend their time voting on these sites constantly

Tells a great story, about how we should all just get along. The lyricism of this song is insane! - roblist

A pristine example of the good soul Tupac shakur had, and a reminder that the world has forver lost an inspiration from the heart of the west coast.R.I. P

His passion for music and giving people messages about reality made us 2pac fans see things in a different way R.I.P Tupac Shakur

47 Chop Suey! - System of a Down Chop Suey! - System of a Down

Chop suey it's maybe the greatest creation of System Of A Down..

And one of the greatest music creations ever!

Greatest musical song with sad and hateful lyrics. - moose4life19

Honestley this song should be up near the top. Just check out some of the band's other songs you won't be dissapointed. - SystemFTW

Second most underrated band after Aerosmith...

48 Yesterday - The Beatles Yesterday - The Beatles

I am such a fan of the Beatles and I think that this is one of their best songs! This song has been in so many movies and referenced to all the time! Anyone who listens to music knows and loves this song! Why would anyone put it ad number 84 on a list of best songs? This is a question we all need to consider! I'm way younger than you would expect but I don't like most of the new pop junk and I love the Beatles so don't spit on some of their best work!

This song was listed 73 when I voted? Is everyone nuts? Rock you like a hurricane was in the top 20!?!?
Grow up!

This song is the third or fourth most profitable songs ever... Just after "Happy Birthday" and "White Chrismas"... And this is because is the most covered song in history, recorded by almost 4, 000 artists. Appealing to facts, this song does not have a real challanger of its own size. It's a monster; one of the most sublime pop/folk written ever.

This song is so beautiful, this is real music with real meaning.

49 The Diary of Jane - Breaking Benjamin The Diary of Jane - Breaking Benjamin

Oh gosh!.. What a song..
jane would really be proud of ben.. Laugh out loud
an epic song from an equally epic band...

Great song! One of the the best songs I've ever heard awesome song breaking Benjamin is one of the best bands of all time to me. Great song should be higher

One of the greatest songs ever by Breaking Benjamin. I love to listen to this song.
It has to be in the top 5

This is a good song, but honestly I am very surprised it is this high.

50 Wonderwall - Oasis Wonderwall - Oasis

Wonderwall is the only song that was able to captivate me from beginning to end. In every song that I hear, I tend to have favorite parts & others that I don't really like all that much- sometimes it's chorus, the lyrics in the middle, the music.. Something HAS to be a little off 'cause nothing is perfect. Wait- Wonderwall just proved that THERE IS by existing!
It was the first song I heard by Oasis, and I was surprised to find that this was the only song I really liked among their works. The rest of their music was sure good, but not exactly my kind of thing, so I can't say I'm a fan of Oasis- just a fan of their best song EVER.

When they wrote this song they were bound to do wonders in the coming ages and they did too. Too bad they broke up. This songs enlarges my beady eyes!

The best song ever in the world forever and ever!, Oasis rocks my life, follow me for all the way of my life...

Oasis. They're better than the Beatles

Ringo Starr would probably agree, because his son was in the band and his dad would say his son is better. All dads are like this. - Powerfultekin

51 The Winner Takes It All - ABBA The Winner Takes It All - ABBA

I have always loved this song! It is really on the greatest songs that anyone has ever written in a really long time. When ever I hear this song I think of Mamma mia and how amazing they sang this song... Definitely number one in the top tens, without a doubt.

this is legend song; goes to Indonesia; africa and everywhere

Exhibits how unfair this world is; wonderful composition and perfect singing; overall, a beautiful peace!

I suppose this is true of life, but a truly great song by a great group.

52 I Will Always Love You - Whitney Houston I Will Always Love You - Whitney Houston

BEAUTIFULLY sung. Most (the majority of these songs should not be on any top list). How can this song be rated this low is beyond my comprehension. Just goes to show you, different strokes for different folks.

Whitney is awesome, but lets also give kudos to the songwriter, and that is Dolly Parton!

This song should top ten at least! You can go anywhere in the world and people will know this song and know it word for word. It is truly timeless, could have been released yesterday and still have been a hit.

She has the most beautiful voice. She definitely deserves to be #1!

53 Welcome to the Jungle - Guns N' Roses Welcome to the Jungle - Guns N' Roses

The music and the lyrics are simpatico; together they threaten and thrill you. Even if you can't hear the words the music makes you feel like you are in the jungle and can't get out. - mgenet

seriously people older bands should have all say over any of these (fad bands) a good song like this stood the test of time... and slash is awesome but seriously if you don't think songs like this should be top 10 like wheres ACDC seriously you people do not know what music was really an influence on rock/music itself :-) I speak for all those rock fans who can't

I don't consider this an older band at all, but whatever. I do love this band. - Feirceraven

This song is the greatest song in the world because it explains the things people went through during that period. That's why this song should be 1st. - Slasher

I love this song. I hear it a lot which some times get annoying. But still pretty good song

54 Bring Me to Life - Evanescence Bring Me to Life - Evanescence

This song gives me the chills every time I hear it and sing it on stage (I'm a singer). Amy Lee has such a powerful and haunting voice. This is what a rock song should sound like ; heavy guitar but yet, so much emotions and drama. It's a classic, I can't believe it is not in the 500 first yet!

This is not were this song should be. This song is the best song that I've ever heard. Amy Lee's voice is the best voice that I've ever heard. It's a beautiful love song.

Best song ever! Why is it at 69? It's better than all Linkin Park songs for sure, especially Numb... Not saying I don't like Linkin Park though!
This and My Immortal should be in the top 10. Amy is the best and powerful singer ever.. Has such a haunting voice!

Most idiotic post ever. Linkin Park is far better than this crappy band which has a vocal that screams and sings like a whiny girl I wonder why...

"WAKE ME UP INSIDE! " The perfect song to blast your speakers when you wake up. - KianaLexi

55 Light My Fire - The Doors Light My Fire - The Doors

The soundtrack to "The Summer of Love" in 1967 was this iconic 7 minutes of musical genius by Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, Robbie Krieger and John Densmore

Great song by one of the greatest bands of all time!

This song would trump 3/4 of the song's before it, in top 25 for sure

A great song, written at a great time in musical history...Robbie Krieger wrote this song, and because "The Doors" didn't have a real song just yet, they recorded this song first...A timeless Classic...Should be MUCH HIGHER on this list.

56 Holy Wars...The Punishment Due - Megadeth Holy Wars...The Punishment Due - Megadeth

I listen to this song every day
best song ever written
thank you Dave

This is my favorite song in the world. And I listen to music at least 3 hours a day. - ssork2424

Megadeth rules! This song is so much better than any of the songs on this list.

Really One is better than it don't be foolish!

57 Layla - Derek and the Dominos Layla - Derek and the Dominos

Two of the greatest guitarists ever (Clapton and Duane Allman) team up to deliver a true gem. The guitar work by Duane at the end of the song is AMAZING! - mdp1970

Eric Clapton wanted to sing this song as a slow ballad until Duane Allman went into a separate room and came out 30 minutes later with the seven note opening riff that is the most famous opening riff in rock history. He plays all the slide guitar in the entire song. If it weren't for Duane, the greatest slide player of all time, no one would even know this song existed. Definitely belongs in the top ten.

This is another song that is disregarded by to many of you all in here who the heck taught you all to understand real music? This is a true classic as written below I can say more than is written already this was a top 20 song period.

Are you kidding me? No# 76? Who ever put this list together just doesn't know music.Twice this song was at number 1 on the charts;Fist with Derek And The Dominoes,Then with Eric Clapton Unplugged.A kick Ass song...should be in the top 10 period.

58 Respect - Aretha Franklin Respect - Aretha Franklin

I bet every person in America knows how to spell Respect now.

How the heck does Eminem be above Aretha in 3 songs people He raps can carry a tune let alone play and instrument that rocks..smh again you all don't do your historical music research. Music had real live musicians playing instruments, could sing actual notes, not talk words. They didn't make up words to try to rhyme them, they actually made sense. Now you think having a beat box is talent? Also a voice box so you can change the vocals if the person can sing well. I am glad Aretha never needed that garbage, she sang!

Just mind blowing. Tell an epic with just a short lyrics.

I enjoy this song.

59 Clocks - Coldplay Clocks - Coldplay

This song should be so much higher in this list! So amazing! - TheSilentBang

Something that I really like about this song that doesn't get mentioned a whole lot is the bass line. Guy Barryman Rules, and it's probably the worst part of the song!

Coldplay is simply amazing, and what about this song? This is one of the few who make you capture special moments! No wonder why its used in many commercials and movies as soundtrack! I love it! And I love every single song of Coldplay, they are just so original

I love this song! It makes me feel so inspired and happy! It should be way higher on the list! It's the only song like it on the list!

60 Stan - Eminem Stan - Eminem

If Stan is in the top 50.. Lose Yourself should be in the top 25 at least!
Stan is a good alternative for a HipHop single, but the single Lose Yourself, is way more better, even better then 2Pac's Changes, I don't get this.. Cause this isn't right.

This is one of the best songs of all time. I don't even like rap that much, but Eminem is one of those artists where you can hate rap and still love nearly everything he does. He's that good. This is his masterpiece.

All eminem songs should be here laugh out loud...
Well not all but stan in top 20, the way I am in top 1
Rock bottom... If you don't like rap then this is it. Just meaningful not superfast.
- mikayelmkrtchyan

This & Lose Yourself are awesome.
