Top Ten Best Starter Pokemon Competitively

The Top Ten
1 Primarina

Excellent typing with water and fairy type in addition to a wide movepool and amazing stats. This pokemon is in my main competitive team with choice specs, assault vest, and primarium z. Pokemon such as Blaziken and Greninja normally need HA to be good, but this pokemon does absolutely well without its HA Liquid Voice. Primarina for the win

2 Blaziken Blaziken, known in Japan as Bashāmo, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

He's banned, for God's sake. What more proof of his power does he need?

He is the first fire-fighting type and he is the best

Blaziken is an amazing pokemon. don't be scared of being a chicken

Speed boost, and a great mega evolution.

3 Greninja Greninja is a Water/Dark type Pokemon introduced in Gen 6. It is the evolved form of Frogadier and the final evolved form of the water starter Froakie. Aside from the usual Torrent ability all Water starters have (Which raises the power of its Water moves), it also has the ability Protean, which changes it's typing to the latest move it used. In Sun/Moon, Greninja also has the ability Battle Bond, which transforms him into his stronger form Ash-Greninja after defeating a Pokemon. Greninja's signature move is Water Shuriken. Not only does it hit up to 5 times, it also allows Greninja to attack first.

I know that Blaziken is my favorite pokemon and is better, but greninja is good too. sorry greninja fans for saying mr. frail. I use him now. blaziken is better, but Greninja is AN AMAZING POWERHOUSE FOR YOUR TEAM.

Protean! Enough said! Right?

Created by Ken Sugimori, Charizard first appeared in the video games Pokémon Red and Blue and subsequent sequels. They have later appeared in various merchandise, spinoff titles and animated and printed adaptations of the franchise. Shin-ichiro Miki, the actor who voices James in the original Japanese version of the Pokémon anime, voices Charizard in both the Japanese and English-language versions of the anime. An orange, draconic Pokémon, Charizard is the evolved form of Charmeleon and the final evolution of Charmander. It has two other forms, Mega Charizards X and Y, which are its ...read more.

Thick Fat is the ability of its Mega Evolution.

6 Serperior Serperior, known in Japan as Jalorda, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

It only gets stronger the longer its on the field, its fast and strong

7 Sceptile Sceptile, known in Japan as Jukain, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

In double battles it can be really helpful if you bring it out with an electric pokemon and mega evolve it. Because while the electric uses discharge for example sceptiles ability lightening rod means that it is immune to electric attacks and whenever it is hit by one its special attack will rise great for a sweep

Doubles: specs Tapu Koko + Modest Mega Sceptile, Is such a insane combo. I was able to get 1700+ On showdown, because of this.

Common it's sceptile

8 Infernape Infernape, known in Japan as Goukazaru, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Blaze, and Iron Fist are both great abilities for Infernape.

9 Blastoise Blastoise, known in Japan as Kamex, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Torrent and Rain Dish are both great abilities for Non Mega Blastoise, and For Mega Blastoise, Mega Launcher is a great ability for Mega Blastoise!

10 Swampert Swampert, known in Japan as Laglarge, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Mega swampert has base 150 attack. combine that with 140 speed under rain due to swift swim and overall good bulk makes it an amazing pokemon under rain (still usable without though). Definitely an underrated pokemon who deserves to be on the list.

This thing is so underrated I bet it can one hit ko most pokemon in the rain

Adorable! Bomb in Anime

15 Torterra Torterra, known in Japan as Dodaitose, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

A BEAST! My Torterra survived three ice punches so who says Torterra sucked? And I beat the ice gym with just Torterra! With a monster move choices: Stone Endge, Wood Hammer, Earthquake, Rock Polish, Rock Climb, Iron Tail, etc. People just mistake Torterra for being weak :(
