It's sad that Elton's being exalted as a songwriter with no mention of Bernie Taupin. While a tremendous performer and composer, he needed the lyrical and inspirational partnership for most of his work.

Sure, Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics but Elton wrote the melodies and instrumentation in 30 minutes & put teach song together on his own.

John Denver ahead of Dylan - I have no words for that nonsense.

Dylan is above Freddie? It is ridiculous. Dylan is a great songwriter but a terrible, terrible singer. And this list is about the greatest singer AND songwriter, isn't it? Dylan has to be at the top if the list is the greatest songwriters only, but not in this list, because he doesn't have any singing skills. Nothing.

How is Bob Dylan above the one and only Freddie Mercury. Dylan was a good songwriter, but, he didn’t have a good voice. Freddie can write his own songs and he has the best voice ever.

Number one if we talk about singer AND songwriter!

Freddie Mercury is clearly the best
