Top Ten Best Things About the Serious Sam Games

The Top Ten
1 Its main character

Sam "Serious" Stone lives up to his name, being a true video game badass in any of the games he's in. There are moments of funny as well, but he is just an awesome character with cool quotes. John J. Dick does a good job at voice-acting as well.

2 The weapon selection

You have pistols with infinite ammo, an overpowered sniper rifle, an actual cannon for shooting cannonballs, a quad barrel laser gun, and I'm not even scratching the surface. Serious Sam II also has a unique parrot bomb weapon.

3 The variety of enemies

A lot of enemies in the games are very weird. But hey, it's fun to shoot down weird-looking foes.

4 The classic gameplay

It's reminiscent of Doom, Duke Nukem, and Quake.

5 The expansive levels

Many of the levels are long and arduous but the good fights are always around.

6 The inside jokes

As Serious Sam pulls some styles from Duke Nukem, it obviously also jokes about it. Notably during the time when Duke Nukem Forever was still in development, some of the Serious Sam games poked fun at Duke.

7 The cut-scenes

The cut-scenes particularly in Serious Sam II and Serious Sam for the Xbox were hilarious.

8 The epic boss battles

The bosses were HUGE. Some were simply "shoot until it dies" while others required strategy. Ugh Zan IV from Serious Sam 3 was one that needed careful strategy.

9 The interesting secrets
10 The helpful powerups

From Second Encounter to Serious Sam II. Some powerups like Serious Damage help out for the bigger battles.
