Well technically speaking that the homunculi were killed off a bit too early in Brotherhood. In the 2003 version the majority (Lust, Sloth, Envy, Wrath, Pride and Gluttony) lasted the whole series.

I agree. Envy died way too early in brotherhood. He was my favorite character!
