Dude, Elton John is amazing. Do yourself a favour and listen to some of his songs.
Homosexuality was not accepted in Rock and Roll. Elton John was at the forefront of changing that. later other luminaries of Rock like Freddy Mercury and
Rob Halford would come out of the closet but only after they had made it big.
Elton John was flaming from the start. and it caused a schism in the Rock fan base that helped kill Rock and Roll. Rock and Roll was about honesty and homosex was seen as not being honest with one's self. -
The ones who are saying that Elton John is Rock and Roll are the ones who're killing Rock and Roll. If you concider this as Rock, you only give Rock and Roll a bad name. I don't say that he's not talented but I concider his music as Pop, Pop-prog, Glam-pop and many other things but certainly not Rock and Roll.
Electric Light Orchestra's contribution to the death of Rock and Roll was their
taking little pieces of popular songs and smashing them together to make
original songs. This was so wrong. Rock aficionados would cringe listening to this bands amalgams of other Bands riffs. They had no shame and to this day no one know what any of them look like. Like a hit team, they came in, planted the concept that rock was so dumb that you can take a part of this song and a part of that song, and voila, you have a hit song.
The radio stations jumped all over their songs. Pop Radio mind you.
but the damage was done ad the public took this crap in and started singing along. This weakened the public understand of good well though out and performed music. -
Did NOT ruin rock music, in fact they are one of the finest rock groups to ever exist. Jeff Lynne is a genius and their songs are great.
What are u talking about they WERE a rock band, and they were a great one, plus they were not pop rock
I like Slipknot. Especially the first 2 albums. Watch the music video for "Spit It Out." It has scenes from one of my favourite movies, The Shining! - IronSabbathPriest

This is quite an obvious one. They will listen to anything that has anything to do with love, is catchy, is about how beautiful they supposedly are, or if the front man of the band or soloist is attractive. They do not know talent.
Is Rock music strictly for men? Why can't a girl be a fan of Rock music? If you mean Groupies, well, this was always part of Rockmusic ( and other types of music ). It's not them who are killing Rock and Roll.
Fred you were the best! Your music has inspired us all. RIP. - IronSabbathPriest
When they became intellectual ( after 1966 - 1967 ) they really killed the standard two minutes single. And Rock and Roll is really about two minutes of instant noise. Not an concept album that even can't be played live because too difficult to reproduce the sound. So, in a way, they contributed to the death of Rock. We had to wait 1977 with Punk to hear the instant noise two minute single again.
Rock and Roll has to be dangerous, rebellious, anti-establishment etc... When THE BEATLES began to mix their music with symphony orchestras, flugel horns, peppered sergeants and all that stuff ( maybe that's why some DJ's of FM rock are saying "... and now here's some CLASSIC rock from.." ) they really killed the rebel side of Rock and Roll. Suddenly Rock became accepted and respected by everyone ( and I mean " everyone " ). And that's what Rock and Roll is not about!
No they didn't they were the birth of rock and roll
The Beatles killed rock and roll with their music.
I love the Beatles. They're not my favorite band but they promoted rock and roll like no other band. If anything, the concept of a rock band was born with them. - RalphSaadV 2 Comments
Techno beat helped kill rock and roll
I think this is the biggest thing that killed Rock and Roll.
Kurt Cobain was very talented. Nirvana is one of, if not the best alternative rock band ever.
They were just not musically talented.V 2 Comments

Saying that he killed Rock is like saying that he changed music. That all what became before him is obsolete and all that comes after him is his legacy. He is just one of the many bad artists of today's music with no importance in the history of music. Will be forgotten in a couple of years.
