Top 10 Best Flags

Best flag designs in the world. Could even be an old flag.
The Top Ten
1 Flag of Great Britain

The flag of Great Britain shows unity between four separate family nations (the British national family) and a country that just wanted a family of nations it could call its siblings or coerce nation. It is also the basis of so many other flag designs and the first to use red, white, and blue together so well. You can be proud of this flag as it doesn't just represent one nation but hundreds of past and present histories.

The Union Jack, in my opinion, is the best flag ever! Why? Because it symbolizes a union of strength, courage, and power. But it also symbolizes family, a family of nations that rise and fall together. It's a symbol of the diversity of different cultures and history.

2 Welsh Flag

As a Welsh lad myself, of course, I think it's an amazing flag. The story behind the red dragon is quite simple. There were two dragons, white and red. The white dragon represented England, while the red represented Wales. After a long fight between the two, the red dragon came out on top. Hence, it has taken the front of the flag, along with the famous green plains and the sky.

At any time, the Welsh flag outstrips any other in the world. The design itself is just amazing. It commands attention with its dragon. Nobody can forget the design of the Welsh flag. I am Welsh and mighty proud of it. It is rightfully attached to our myths and legends.

3 United States Flag

The U.S. flag stands for freedom and equality for all. Unlike all the European flags, it stands for the people, asserting that no king, queen, or anyone, for that matter, is born with the God-given right to rule and control. Not only that, but this flag also represents our allies - all the ones we have saved and those that have saved us. More people have been freed by this flag than by any other country I can think of.

The US flag stands for the unity of the fifty states and their history that comes together to make us one unified country. It symbolizes our unified history.

4 Nepalese Flag

The most mathematical flag. There are instructions describing how to make the flag without the common maths we have today, but rather with beautiful maths from the time of the ancient Greeks. It's wonderful.

Unique flag. I believe the triangles on the sides are the two peaks of Mt. Everest, and the moon and sun are special to the Nepalese. I've heard some explain that without the moon and sun, Nepal is not Nepal.

The Nepalese flag is best and unique among all other flags. Most flags feature either a moon or a sun, but our flag has both. This symbolizes that as long as the sun and the moon exist, our country will also remain.

5 Bhutanese Flag

The Bhutanese flag features a dragon, symbolizing a sovereign nation, unlike Wales. Bhutan's name in their native language literally means "Land of the Thunder Dragon."

The Bhutanese flag is awesome looking, with a dragon in the middle. While it might not be as smart, sharp, or menacing as the Welsh flag, this flag is very cool!

I do not know how it got 11th rank on this list, but in many other best flag lists, Bhutan is the best (first place, second to none). I would also rank it as 1st place.

6 Brazilian Flag

The Brazilian flag is the most original flag in the world, not only because of its geometry but also because of the meaning of each color!

The Brazilian flag is so chill. Every time I see the flag, I think of 'Rio', and that is exactly where I want to be right now instead of the UK.

Each part and color of the Brazilian flag has a coherent meaning. It also shows how the sky was on Independence Day, which is really meaningful.

7 Philippine Flag

The Philippine flag is a great flag. Every color, symbol, and shape has a meaning.

Just look at the colors: blue on top of red. It signifies peace in the country, but it also means that at some point in its history, red was on top of blue. This indicates that the colors can still be reversed, as the Philippines would not let certain parts of its history repeat itself.

The white triangle symbolizes equality, and the color white represents purity.

In the middle of the triangle is a sun. In previous flags of the Philippines, the sun appeared, but only as a sunrise in the mountains, symbolizing hope. Now, it represents the eight provinces that fought against the Spaniards, as indicated by its eight rays.

In the corners of the triangle are three stars representing Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, the three major divisions of the 7,107 islands in the Philippines.

The flag represents the country and its unforgotten history. Its people respect and take pride in it, standing with their hands on their chests.

8 Canadian Flag

Canada's flag is a symbol of national unity, using the country's two official colors and its national symbol to show unity among all its citizens, regardless of their race, gender, or religion. The flag represents everything Canada believes in, and its simplicity and elegance are attractive and eye-catching, making it one of the most recognizable flags in the world.

Not only does this flag represent the maple leaf, but also unity and peace. The design is simple but very bold. The flag has simple colors, and it doesn't feel like you're looking at an optical illusion, unlike some countries' flags. The Canadian flag shows that you don't need to add a lot of elements to a flag to make it amazing. Rather, a simple piece like the maple leaf can be sufficient.

9 South Korean Flag

This flag is excellent in the use of placement and colors. It is very unique and so beautiful. Wonderful flag!

I find this flag is different from others, and I love the simplicity of it. The use of color is great as well!

The combination of colors is great!

10 Indian Flag

The Indian Flag is simply awesome. Its overall design, being very simple, represents the simplicity of the Indian people. The saffron panel on the top represents sacrifice. It reminds the people that we cannot achieve success without sacrifice, and it visualizes the Great Indian Freedom Movement and all the martyrs of the country. It represents the country that was born out of the selfless sacrifices of billions of innocent souls.

The middle white panel stands for purity, recognizing the purity of the heart over the purity of the body. It also represents light on the path to truth and success. The bottom green panel stands for the prosperity of the nation, along with the need to protect Mother Nature from threats.

The Ashoka Chakra, or the Wheel in the middle of the white panel, represents the endless wheel of law. It reminds the Indian people about the Laws of Dharma or Truth and tells them to make truth the principal value of their life. The Wheel has 24 equidistant spokes, representing the 24 hours of a day. It reminds people that time goes on without waiting for anyone and that one should make meaningful use of the 24 hours of every day. The wheel also denotes the movement or motion of life, signifying that life is a constant movement and stagnation is death. It means that the country should keep progressing to greater heights without affecting the great cultural, lingual, and traditional diversity of the country.

There is truly no other flag that is this simple in appearance and yet carries meanings beyond explanation.

11 Mexican Flag

The story of the Mexican flag is one of the best stories that come with a flag. I don't know the story in detail, but you should definitely take the time to search it and read it.

The rich cultural background of the Mexican flag is incredibly interesting. The meaning of the colors is great, and the eagle and snake coat of arms looks all-around awesome.

The central emblem of the Mexican flag is the coat of arms, based on the Aztec symbol. The eagle is located on a lake island where the Aztecs made their home, which is present-day Mexico City.

12 Australian Flag

National Flag (2000 -):
What you often see is the Union Jack, with six stars representing the states. The gear-like sixth star on the left represents the developmental progress of the nation, albeit our economy is kind of stagnating due to communism.

Royal Flag:
Green, white, and black flag with three red stars in the middle.

Old National Flag:
Red triangle on the left side, with black, green, and white stripes.

The Australian flag is perfect. We have the best colors, the Union Jack, and the Southern Cross. It's hands down the coolest flag in the world from the best country in the world!

13 South African Flag

Rainbow nation and colors. Old Dutch power and new power ANC flags combined. Splendid.

Red, white, green, yellow, black, blue. "Y" flag.

14 Albanian Flag

The Albanian flag features the symbol of an eagle. In the Albanian language, which is called the Language of the Eagle, Albanians are also referred to as Shqipetare, meaning the sons of the Eagle. The eagle represents the Sun Empire. Its heads symbolize the Annunak race (spirit race) and the Adam race, or that of Jesus Christ (air race), both originating from the same God. Many countries have an eagle in their flags, but the only nation in the world that speaks the Language of the Eagle is Albania. Those who know this language are able to explain the history of life on Earth.

15 Jamaican Flag

For such a small island, it's one of the world's most recognizable flags. Everyone wants a bit of Jamaica.

16 Olympic Flag
17 Skull & Crossbones

The Jolly Roger is clearly and utterly the coolest flag that has ever been flown. Here are the reasons why it is so good:

1. It is a universal flag since it does not represent one specific country or state.
2. It is the only flag, apart from the Union Jack, that I know of which has a nickname.
3. It is so well known that if you show a different flag to a stranger, there is a chance they might not recognize it, but if you show them the Jolly Roger, they will definitely know it.

So, hoist the colors for the Jolly Roger!

Unquestionably the best flag, as well as my family crest. It is also the flag that really represents freedom. Leaving aside the petty theft angle, pirate codes were real social contracts, and pretty fair ones at that. Hoist the colors!

18 Sri Lankan Flag

Most beautiful and most meaningful. Shows true power and strength.

By far the most beautiful, meaningful, powerful.

19 Serbian Flag

Slick flag, nice colors, very nice arms. Might have been better had they put the old arms in.

Bright colors, fantastic crown - a bit of royal, nicely represents us Serbians, and a loyal design.

20 Macedonian Flag

It was voted the second-best flag behind Bhutan's in 2002 by Almanac, a famous world information publisher. I think it looks pretty kick-ass!

21 Greek Flag

It features the cross of the ancient kingdom of Knossos, which existed 1600 years before the Christian era. Its pattern is uniquely Greek (Greek cross), and nowadays, it represents Christianity.

The meaning of the Greek flag is "freedom or death"! It was the motto in the Greek war against the Ottoman Empire for independence in 1821.

It also represents the blue and white of the sea and sky, which Hellas (Greece) (Hel: Gods - Las: Rock) is famous for.

22 Prussian Flag

As an American who thinks the American flag is the most amazing flag ever, this is a pretty nice-looking flag.

No other reason for liking it, I just do.

23 Portuguese Flag
24 Turkish Flag

The Turkish flag is so cool. It has the epic combo of blood and clouds. Turkey should be at the top! What's not to like about this flag?

The Turkish flag symbolizes the blood of the people defending their homeland, with the crescent and star reflecting on this blood lake. Epic.

This is the most beautiful flag in the world.

25 Japanese Flag

Simple design makes it easy to understand the meaning of symbols. Simple is best.
