Clueless people tend to know The Beatles, the Stones and Led Zeppelin but not The Who even though The Who are arguably as great as those other 3 bands so that's why I would say a little under-rated.

Underrated? Are you kidding? You go to any record store and you will find records of " The Who ". That's not what I really call underrated.

Everybody knows these guys, it's just that they don't get the credit they deserve in my humble opinion!

2 Badfinger Badfinger was a British rock band that, in their most prolific lineup, consisted of Pete Ham, Mike Gibbins, Tom Evans, Joey Molland and Bob Jackson.

This band didn't find as much success as they deserved. Badfinger was a really solid group, and certainly on par with groups like The Who and Elton John's band. Pete Ham, Tom Evans and Joey Molland were extremely talented songwriters. Criminally underrated band, packed every bit as much punch (if not more) as other British bands at the time.

Day after day, Without you, Lonely you such beautiful songs, but alas, nobody knows about them

3 Creedence Clearwater Revival Creedence Clearwater Revival, often shortened to Creedence and abbreviated as CCR, was an American rock band active in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Everyone knows about songs such as "Fortunate Son" but not many have heard of the band itself

One of the Greatest and Most underrated Bands of all time. Still has a dedicated audience.

Greatest band of all time

8 The Beach Boys The Beach Boys are an American pop rock band formed in Hawthorne, California in 1961. The group's original lineup consisted of brothers Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love, and their friend Al Jardine.

Most critics will agree, as well as many musical artists, but many people take for granted Brian Wilson's contributions to music

9 The Doors The Doors were an American rock band formed in 1965 in Los Angeles, with vocalist Jim Morrison, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore.

Not exactly under-rated, as they are very justifiably considered to be one of the greatest rock bands of all time, although for some reason their stock is not as high in the UK as it is in the US.

Yes, they are truly amazing.

10 The Allman Brothers Band The Allman Brothers Band was an American rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1969 by brothers Duane Allman and Gregg Allman, as well as Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks, and Jai Johanny "Jaimoe" Johanson.

13 The Monkees The Monkees were an American rock and pop band originally active between 1966 and 1971, with reunion albums and tours in the decades that followed.

I had to give my vote to The Monkees, because most people don't give them credit for being artists.

They came into their own and 50 years produced one of their best albums

I love the Monkees! Mike Nesmith was my favorite one in the band.

14 The Marshall Tucker Band

The original lineup was Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano), Brian May (guitar, vocals), Roger Taylor (drums, vocals), and John Deacon (bass guitar, vocals). They're overrated and underrated at the same time. They're overrated in the way that people only really listen to some of their big hits and only consider them good cause of songs like Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You, and some more. Queen frequently rank within the top 10 or top 5 rock bands of all time, rightfully so, but not because of this. They're overrated in that sense; but they're also underrated, with Brian May as an underrated guitarist, Roger Taylor as an underrated drummer, and John Deacon as a SEVERELY underrated bassist. They have many amazing songs that aren't just hit singles, and some of the best albums made. In reality, they're not one of the best bands because Freddie Mercury is great and they made Bohemian Rhapsody and other great tunes; they're one of the best bands because Freddie Mercury, Brian May, John Deacon, and Roger Taylor are all amazing, and they've made some of the best rock songs and albums ever.

I'm a massive fan but I wouldn't say they are underrated. Well, compared to Led Zeppelin and the Beatles, Queen might be underrated though.
