Most Underrated Classic Rock Songs

The Top Ten
1 I Can See for Miles - The Who

By a mile the most inventive song. It should have made number 1 on both sides of the Atlantic

A song about an unfaithful girlfriend.Moon drives the tune. One of Pete best guitar playing songs. Entwistle’s sledgehammer bait. Daltrey ferociously letting her know that he knows about infidelity. Brilliant.

2 Stone Cold Crazy - Queen

This is more hard rock than classic rock

The rise of thrash metal.

3 Hallelujah - Deep Purple
4 Wild Horses - The Rolling Stones

One of my favorite Rolling Stones songs of all time

5 Ziggy Stardust - David Bowie

It's Bowie can you do better

6 Layla - Derek and the Dominos

The Eric Clapton solo version is more popular, but I prefer this version

7 Misty Mountain Hop - Led Zeppelin
8 Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution - AC/DC
9 You Better Run - The Young Rascals

Most people will always relate Pat Benatar with this classic. Most people are very unaware that she covered this song. Now that's truly underrated for sure. I truly prefer the original. Most people don't think of The Rascals when someone mentions the song. Sad, really!

10 Crossroads - Cream
The Contenders
11 Feelin' Satisfied - Boston

I'd say underrated. The album "Don't Look Back" was released in 1978 and was later released as a single. Only went to #46. Very little airplay and most people only remember the single Don't Look back from the album. Sad, cool song!

12 The March of the Black Queen - Queen

How is this not in the top #10?! How did this not get the love it deserved?!

13 Helter Skelter - The Beatles
14 Eli's Coming - Three Dog Night
15 Gone Hollywood - Supertramp

I like Breakfast In America, it is a excellent album. This is one of the best tracks and it's a very underrated song off that album.

The most prog rock song in this album, it's truely a masterpiece of Rick Davies

16 Fool In the Rain - Led Zeppelin

A truly good song from Zeppelin that you don't hear much about. One of the better songs off this album. Excellent, really. This song needs credit along with others we all heard so much of. Younger listeners need to hear this and not just their, well you know. Just a gem!

17 Oh Well - Fleetwood Mac

That's what makes it underrated! This is a live version but the studio version did get airplay when it was released in the 70's but very little.

I've never heard it on an American classic rock radio station, but it rocks. The guitar work is absolutely solid.

18 Victim of Love - Eagles

Everyone knows all their really big hits. This song is just as good as any of them and is the most underrated of their songs. Don't hear this song often as all the songs we have over heard since the 70's and 80's.

19 Aqualung - Jethro Tull

This is definitely underrated, hardly ever played on the radio. Songs like Misty Mountain Hop and Fool in the Rain are NOT underrated, I hear them all the time.

20 Stone In Love - Journey

Of all the Journey hits and singles this one fell through the cracks and is actually much better than those singles we have all heard Over and Over. This is not so boring and is hardly heard and not thought of when people discuss Journey.

Yes, it was even left off their first greatest hits though it had a short run on rock stations in 1982.. Did not show up until their more recent essential hits release.

21 Fool for You Anyway - Foreigner

Great song off Foreigner's debut album "Foreigner". Just as good as the singles off the album.

22 For Your Love - The Yardbirds
23 Nobody's Fault - Aerosmith

Literally listening to this song and it inspired me to look up a list like this. Definitely one of Aerosmiths best and most underrated. It's also this album that inspired the likes of Metallica and Nirvana.

24 Mississippi Queen - Mountain
25 Funk #49 - James Gang
