Worst Movie Directors of All Time
The Contenders: Page 2XW
Aw, Ulli Lommel. I would say he is one of the worst directors in the history of cinema, but that would require calling what he does "directing". "Diary of a Cannibal" was nothing more than about fifteen to twenty minutes of footage replayed over and over again. Had it have been good footage I might not have minded but it wasn't. The acting was like rotting wood, the setting blatantly a soundstage, and the story flat (which is a shame since the true story it's based on is both deeply disturbing and horrific). I believe every director should be allowed mistakes, but this is something else entirely.
Should defiantly be in the top 3, I've never seen a movie he has made that wasn't one of the worst movies ever made.
Dragonball Evolution is a disgrace to the Dragonball, Z, GT Franchise!
Director of Dragonball Evolution
The only good movies he has made are Final Destination 1 & 3.
Should be top 10V1 Comment
I am one of his biggest fans. Ever since he created the greatest space franchise, he changed the world! I actually enjoyed all the prequels. Although I admit the first and second could be a little better, I still liked them in my youth. Plus you can't deny that the third prequel was flawless and one of the best films in 2005! I would like nothing more than to meet Mr Lucas and thank him for making this space opera part of me! I also side with him that Disney isn't doing a good job of running the franchise. HE has the right vision, not Disney! Thank you, Mr Lucas! May the Force be with you
At least he's low on the list, but he should not be on the list at all! He directed Star Wars and Indiana Jones (yeah, it wasn't only Steven Spielberg)
He's 70 years old now. So he's gonna retire anyway.
He's my second favorite director. - RalphBobV9 Comments
He's worse than Michael Bay. Bay made The Rock which was good and the 2 Bad Boys movies which are guilty pleasures. Everything Gosnell has made has been crap.
He directed Home Alone 3, Scooby-Doo, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, Beverly Hills Chihuahua, The Smurfs, and the Smurfs 2. However, he edited Home Alone, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, and Mrs. Doubtfire. - BeatlesFan1964
#36! He directed both Smurf films, both Scooby Doo films, Popeye the movie, Home Alone 3, and Beverly Hills Chihuahua! Sure he did some good Robin Williams movies and the first two Home Alone flicks, but... why!?
Director of the second Twilight Movie.
Director of the fourth Twilight Movie (part 1).
Slumdog millionaire is one of the worst movies of all time.
Director of the third Twilight Movie.
It's funny how he made a film to help stop bullying when he's a bully himself. Hypocrite. - Ghostbunny
"Cool Cat loves to boogie woogie" because he "loves ALL kids"V3 Comments
Are you kidding me? So what if he directed Jack; he also directed The Godfather Parts 1&2, Apocalypse Now, The Conversation, Tucker: The Man and His Dream, Bram Stoker's Dracula, and The Rainmaker. To me, a man with those movies on his resume does not deserve to be on this list.
Why is he here?!?! He is one of the best directors. He directed the godfather and apocalypse now.. what
About the movie jack, maybe Francis Ford Coppola thought he had too many good films and he needed a bad film to even them out.
Way too overrated! The Godfather trilogy does not deserve the criticism it has. The first film is totally NOT one of the greatest movies of all timeV2 Comments
Watching his movies and it is like you are watching one of his other crappie flicks plus he reuses the same casts and same shooting location in most of his movie eg actor Raycho Vasilev (who play Gneuss in Spartacus blood and sand n also gods of the arena never misses)
Too arty to be called a great moviedirector. I think she only got publicity because her father's name and fame.
Managed to single handedly ruin the holy grail of movies, The Godfather, and has directed only one warchable movie to date (Lost in Translation)V1 Comment
I admit that I was disappointed in Godzilla and 2012 but I was amazed at Independance Day, the Day After Tomorrow, White House Down and especially the Patriot! The Patriot was my favorite film of 2000! I congratulate Emmerich for these four films!
Now I'm not saying that I hate this guy, but Most people hate him because his films suffer too heavily on visual effects, cliché dialogue, and numerous scientific and historical inaccuracies. In response to the criticisms, emmerich stated that he is a "filmmaker, not a scientist", he creates his own fiction based on actual science or history to make the messages he sends "more exciting."
He is worst then michael bay at mindless action
All he does is make a bunch of dumb, cliched, mindless action flicksV2 Comments
Star Trek was awesome. It was something new for star trek anyway.
Everybody's vision is clouded by the overrated and silly material in Star Wars 7! Abrams has created a ridiculous excuse of Star Wars material and that name Snoke?! What an embarrassing name! It sounds childish! Might as well call him Snorkel or something! Not to mention he just copied the original plot from A New Hope in 1977! That proves no new ideas! Lucas would know what subject to install!
Lame! I especially hated his work on Star Wars 7! He did it in a terrible style! The characters, their names, their costumes, the ship designs and especially the plot were bogus! He is ruining Star Wars' awesome image! Especially that Kylo Ren, I tell ya, THAT is not a villain name! It sounds like a childish idea! George Lucas knew how to be creative but Abrams doesn't!
Nothing but a stupid Beastie Boys fanboy. I'm glad he's on the list!V2 Comments
Directed the last 4 films in the Harry Potter franchise
And deathly hollows 2 wasn't the best movie on the saga?
The man that made Mortal Kombat look like a total joke, and directing Foodfight!, the worst animated film that ever existed. If it's anything this guy defines, it's crap. - Swank
Someone should kick him in the face for making the live action Grinch movie.
Howard may have a great reputation but his directing disgusts me, especially A Beautiful Mind, the Grinch, Far and Away, and especially the daVinci Code. I have a cool slate with the Cinderella Man but I say he should take lessons from Tim Burton.
He'll never be good enough for a director
As boring as his acting.V3 Comments
