Top 10 Worst Video Game Developers

The Top Ten

1 Electronic Arts Electronic Arts Electronic Arts, Inc., also known as EA Games, is an American developer, marketer, publisher and distributor of video games headquartered in Redwood City, California.

They don't make bad games but they make you pay for everything.

They have great games, but they are commonly ruined by DRM, forced DLC, unfinished and broken products.

Example: SimCity: the game had a feature where you always had to be online to play it, even if you weren't playing online. The problem was, on launch day, the servers weren't ready, so literally nobody could play it.

They don't listen to gamers who are playing and notice bugs, failures etc. Patches don't work or don't fix the major problems. Patience of gamers are being tested to the max.

Battlefield 4 and Hardline have a broken battlelog that works once out of 80 times you try to access it on PS4. Killing Commander app was also a mistake and even that was broken.

2 LJN LJN LJN Toys, Limited was an American toy company and video game publisher in operation from 1970 to 1995. It manufactured toy lines and released battery operated water guns and video games based on licensed properties from movies, television shows, and celebrities.

Every good movie you watch some of the worst license games ever put that all together you have the rainbow company that is terrible - htoutlaws2012

The Angry video game nerd explains what the colors of the LJN rainbow really mean
(we all know there is no gold at the end of this rainbow) - MJfan119

Angry Video Game ranks LJN the worst game developers ever. There poop.

I am a huge AVGN fan, and I think the LJN rainbow is a lie! They also turn great movies into bad games! They also have a bad console called the LJN Video Art AKA LJN Video Fart!

3 Activision Activision Activision Publishing, Inc. is an American video game publisher. It was founded on October 1, 1979 and was the world's first independent developer and distributor of video games for gaming consoles.

Make a game and ship it out. If it's popular, make the game again and release it the following year. Then repeat the process until people are sick of it. That is only half of Activision in my opinion. It's bad enough that their flagship franchises are milked endlessly, but their decision making seals the deal for me.

They don't care about you, your problems with their games, and they don't care about even the quality of the games being made. All they want is a bottom line, and they know that people buy for the name alone. Outside of Call of Duty, their games range from mediocre to overmilked, all the way down to terrible. SpongeBob Heropants is a shining example of how not to make or publish a game, even for licensed gaming standards. They even ditched the Wii u and went with publishing for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, which is bull. I have a Wii u, and if I haven't already vowed never to give these penguin suited bastards my money for ditching the Wii u, the only game I ...more

Thanks to Activision's Greed.. They ruined destiny and most of their Call of Duty games.. Now Activision is turning almost 50% of every game they publish into DLC... And Destiny... Wow... After paying 90 bucks they want me to pay another 40 bucks for the next destiny dlc which would have already been in the game knowing that the House of wolves Dlc was premade since the start.. They just had to talk about the next DLC 1 month later.. Call of Duty will always be the same..

Considering the fact that the trailer for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is one one of the most disliked videos on YouTube, Activision has really done a bad for themselves. At this point it's not even Infinity Ward's fault, in fact Activision is taking them down with them. They have done a lot more in the past, don't get me wrong, but considering the fact that they have the audacity to develop what the Call of Duty community say they don't want just goes to show how much Activision doesn't care about the fans, instead they put out an even more futuristic Call of Duty game for some apparant reason. No wonder why Battlefield 1 buried Infinite Warfare, and I thought EA was bad.

Screw activision for ruining and money milking every series

5 Zynga Zynga Zynga is an American provider of social video game services founded in July 2007 and headquartered in San Francisco, California, United States.

Seriously, are they even a gaming company? They steal games from other people, specially indie devs! Ugh, they are literally leaking with money, yet they need ideas from other people. Most of the time their games are usually littered with micro-transactions the literal bane of gaming. literally EA's little brother.

Worst ever gaming developer! They were the ones who introduced time-sync in their games and introduced trade between real cash and in-game currency as a way to earn money because they made their games slow as Hell.

I have been a fan of their games back in 2011, but their micro-transactions and game requesting system are the worst business practices on Earth!

I HATE Zynga for ripping of Tiny Tower, one of my fave mobile games from the epic studio, NimbleBit. Screw Zynga, the money grabbers.

6 Konami Konami

I used to love this company, until there is nothing else to love about it. They don't have the slightest respect for their developers. Once they outlive their usefulness they get reassigned to be a part of security guards, cleanup crew, factory workers. Lately, they realized that gamers care about the people who create their favorite games. So, they decided not to give people credit when it's earned. They want to keep the gifted ones at Kojima's level enslaved rather than watch them grow and gain fame. It's one thing to play with your fans emotions by turning their favorite games into an embarrassment like what happened with Castlevania which ended up being an erratic violence pachinko game. But to turn on the people who helped the company succeed and make their lives a living hell is just plain evil.

Arguably the most controversial at the moment, Konami's franchises have slowly been diminishing, to the point where their are petitions to give the franchise rights to over companies. Also, with the apparent mistreatment of employees, some have to call into question how long the company will last.

Aside from throwing away a game with so much potential that came from the greatest horror franchise of all time, all there needs to be said is that firing Kojima is possibly the worst business decision made by a video game company. They love digging their own grave don't they?

Love their Japanese baseball games but hate others games by them - sumeragi

7 Phoenix Phoenix

Terrible rip-offs that not even an Elementary School student would think of. I don't think even they know their own source material.

These people are probably the last people on earth that care about the gaming industry. People are just easily tricked into seeing otherwise.

Barry Hatter and the Sorcerer's Broomstick. Snow White and the Seven Clever Boys. Dalmatians 3. Must I say anymore?

Worst of the worst of the worst! All rip offs, nothing else.

8 King King

How the heck is Sega...SEGA higher than this abomination of a company? This should be in the top ten! Their games are awful, they're pointless, and they're cash cows. They don't care about you, they care about money. Candy Crush has 12,000,000 different types of micro transactions and aggravating business practices. They also tried to trademark the words "Candy" and "Saga" instead of trademarking the combo "Candy Crush". Instead, they got AWAY with trademarking the word candy and every game on the App Store with that word got TAKEN DOWN. - DCfnaf

Their games are pointless. There's nothing wrong with that. There's always time for a distraction. The problem is that they try to cash with the games by addicting people and then forcing them to buy. I had luck escaping...

They are a ver arrogant company, trying to play big fish, little fish with indy companies that are making games or made games that have nothing to do or were made before candy crush.

Remake a good game from a great developer into a mediocre game and pretend it's not a rip-off, charge the game as "Freemium" and sue any developer who's game has a similar name (they sued for a game called Candy Land Saga that was written before Candy Crush Saga). Spend less then 10 million dollars developing said game and 400 million advertising it. Treat their employees bad enough that they are fed up with the industry as a whole and leave to write their own game. Yes, this is the company that drove Notch to write Mincraft. I guess we have that to thank them for.

9 Ubisoft Ubisoft Ubisoft Entertainment SA is a French multinational video game developer and publisher, headquartered in Rennes, France.

Ubisoft is without a doubt the worst company in the gaming business. They do all sorts of bull business practices like season passes, overpriced DLC, microtransactions, etc.. Also, remember Uplay? The online service that's trying its hardest to not compete with Steam and Origin. Ubisoft is also a master of milking franchises. They annually release Assassin's Creed games, and they all look the same. I'm willing to bet $500 dollars that Ubisoft will milk the Far Cry franchise as well. Far Cry 4 was basically Far Cry 3. Far Cry Primal also looks like another Far Cry 3. Remember when the Far Cry franchise had variety in every release? Far Cry 1, Far Cry 2, and Far Cry 3 looked and played completely different from each other. Well, now it has lost all its charm. Not only is Ubisoft doing bull business practices, they are also an incredibly lazy developer, as is evident with the annual releases that are basically the same thing different year. Ubisoft started those bull business practices ...more - TheMusicNerd

Have put out numerous games on Steam that just plain don't work (conflicts between Steam and Uplay) and they refuse to do anything about it. The one time I tried to do something about it I went to their forums and found thousands of other people with the same issue and the official response on the forums was always the same 'we can't help you on the forums, you need to open a support ticket.' So I did, and support responded about 2 weeks later saying that they could not help and for those issues I needed to post on the forums. I opened another support ticket explain that it was the forums that had told me I needed to go through them and they simply never responded. Upon reading up a little more I discovered that this was very normal for Ubisoft and at that point I decided to never buy their games again.

Makes a lot of buggy games that require a lot of computer power for graphics that aren't that impressive. Do I even have to tell about they making the same game over and over and just giving it different names? They're the most greedy company in this list, not to mention all its lies.

Always over promising on their games. Extreme Hypocrisy and clear ambitions on sucking their consumers dry without actually providing quality games. Sad ending to initially a good company.

11 Phoneix Games Phoneix Games

It's so bad it made the list twice - htoutlaws2012

Made Dalmations 3 and Animal Soccer World, two sins sent to us by the devil.

It's so made, it made it to the top ten TWICE.

Technicaly, it's Phoenix Games; but I do agree it should be higher (or lower? Don't know). Also, why is this lower than Kemco, Square Enix, Activision and Atari?

The worst French company ever, made the most memorable bad game of all time superman64 and later did robocop which was also terrible. - htoutlaws2012

Don't get me started on superman64. - tranhotwheel04

The PC games they did were decent... Even the Titus the Fox game with its crappy music.
The console games however... Sucked ass.

14 WB Montreal WB Montreal

They decided it would be better to make DLC and milk us dry of our money than trying to give us a product that works.

They pretty much slapped Arkham fans in the face, and also cut all my relations from DC. - WonkeyDude98

They made Batman: Arkham Origins. Enough said.

They copied and pasted the classic Batman: Arkham City and made it buggy, clunky, laggy, and filled with DLC.

17 Wisdom Tree Wisdom Tree Wisdom Tree is an American developer and publisher of Christian video games for the Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Game Boy, PC, Mac, and Sega Genesis, headquartered in Pima County, Tucson, Arizona, United States.

They are making fun of the bible and christian religion by creating weird games about the bible and make a lot of fusions of christian religion and video games. By doing that, they think they never get sued.

All games they made are either somewhat Bible games or there just ripoffs of good games (ex Wolfenstein 3D.) - htoutlaws2012

All hail the religious part of Color Dreams (another terrible developer)

Welcome to the good christian community of Wisdom Tree, we hope you Athiests hate your stay

This needs to get off right now. They made the best SpongeBob game and one of my favorite games ever, SpongeBob battle for bikini bottom. Get it off right now.

Yeah, they made great Wrestling Games and Battle for Bikini Bottom was amazing too. - peaceswagtv

They only were completely terrible during the NES era. Afterwards they became a mixed bag where they made some good games and some bad.

I'll never understand just how? They make legendary wrestling games. - htoutlaws2012

This should be here...at all comparing this to Ljn, Microsoft studios, Activision, and literally every other company on this list...this company dominates in good content but for some reason doesn't make good money.

20 Capcom Capcom ...read more.

Capcom used to be badass in the eighties and nineties, but they have fallen like Sega and Atari, but EVEN WORSE. Capcom is almost bankrupt ed now and there's a good reason, Capcom treats their fanbase badly, they didn't bring Mega man back even though almost all of their fans demanded for it, they have turned Resident Evil from a horror shooter to a mindless generic shooter, and they have been just milking Street Fighter for all it has, gee, I wonder why they are going bankrupt. - PinataonSugar

No megaman, No resident evil, No castlevania, Making Street Fighter bad, and that comes to my conclusion: CAPCOM has died. Rest in piece CAPCOM. In the 19's you were good, but you dumped some franchises. So now, you can go downhill.

Oh boy... Where do I begin?... We started from having games that could be counted as "masterpieces", now most of those franchises are either dead or being treated like dog crap! They really need to step in their A-game... A lot!

How is this not higher. They went from making masterpieces to mediocre games at best. Not to mention their favorite practice of making you pay for content already locked on the damn disc.
