The Contenders: Page 6

101 Todd Rundgren Todd Rundgren

Just listen to todd rundgren's utopia and bow at the prowess of his hot ass riffs and licks (the ikon)!

Todd is one of top ten for me. Fantastic guitar player and singer. To few listen to his music.

Todd is one of the most underrated guitarists out there, he plays like no one else. - CrazedPoi

The solo in "Death of Rock and Roll" says it all. Todd.

102 Kurt Cobain Kurt Cobain Kurt Cobain was born February 20, 1967, in Aberdeen, Washington. In 1988, he started the grunge band Nirvana. He was a talented yet troubled grunge performer. Kurt Cobain became a rock legend in the 1990s with his band. He committed suicide at his Seattle home in 1994.

Most influential easily. He and nirvana started the best style of music and he is easily the most recognized vocalist and guitarist

His music killed off all the hair bands, most musicians cannot popularize an entire underground genre

He made music that was catchy and raw at the same time.

Just a cool guy like any of us...

103 Amos Garrett
104 Synyster Gates Synyster Gates Brian Elwin Haner, Jr., better known by his stage name Synyster Gates or simply Syn, is an American musician, best known for being the lead guitarist and backing vocalist of the band Avenged Sevenfold.

I voted for Gates just so I could post here and say that he's actually a little young to be influential. Just wait for a couple years until he's finally called a legend.

He the god of metal guitar and his solos are blistering and unique

I grew up listening to this guy. He definantley influenced me and so many others with his guitar style.

105 Robby Krieger Robby Krieger Robert Alan "Robby" Krieger is an American guitarist and singer-songwriter best known as the guitarist of the rock band the Doors, and as such has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

He Pretty Much Invented Rock and Roll he used jazz though indstead of blues a lot of times, he has a nice 1968 SG he inveted rock and roll with jim morrison, john densmore and lets not forget ray manzerek, he rocks... people are strange, break on through, crawling king snake, L. A. woman, light my fire, love me two times, love her madly, peace frog are only a few amazing songs by the doors

107 Nile Rodgers
108 Kirk Hammett Kirk Hammett Kirk Lee Hammett is the lead guitarist and songwriter for the heavy metal band Metallica and has been a member of the band since 1983. Before joining Metallica he formed and named the band Exodus.

Why isn't he on here like listen to those solo's on master of puppets and ride the lightning. I don't think anyone can duplicate.

Can't duplicate, but many can make better than him

The reason I play guitar

109 Mark Tremonti Mark Tremonti Mark Thomas Tremonti is an American musician, singer and songwriter, best known as the lead guitarist of the rock bands Creed and Alter Bridge.
110 Eddie Lang

I understand he was out there a long time ago so many won't have an idea of his work and probably never heard of his name as well, but a list of influential guitar players without his name looks fake. Let's just say that if guitar was a piece of bread this guy would be the one who harvested grain... , that influential. He is way over the top of the list together with Segovia and Reinhardt.
If you don't know him check him out.

111 Bernard Sumner

Set musical milestones creating groudbreaking albums in the seveties and the eighties with Joy Division and aftet 35 years still not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Is there no justice?

112 Michael Hedges

Acoustic guitarist from another planet.

113 Neal Schon Neal Schon Neal Joseph Schon is an American rock guitarist, songwriter, and vocalist best known for his work with the bands Journey and Bad English. He is Journey's last original constant member, having participated in every album and tour to date.

Highly underrated. He contributed many of the most icon solos and songs of the last few decades.

Neal is a great guitar player.. From his roots at Santana... To Journey..

114 Nancy Wilson Nancy Wilson

Hart deserves notation so she should be in the top ten
