Top Ten 2016 Movies that Should Have Done Better at the Box Office
This list compiles the movies of 2016 that should have made a lot more money at the box office, but didn't.
A front-runner for the Best Animated Feature Oscar, easily. This one came out around the same time as 'Pete's Dragon' and both failed to make any decent money. What a shame.
With a franchise as big as 'Star Trek', you'd expect a much better turnout. Especially when they're being made so well. The series' poor box office returns are completely undeserving.
People are always asking for more original content at the movies. They're asking for fewer sequels and franchises and more smartly-crafted, A-grade material. And then, when a movie that actually meets these expectations comes around, NO ONE GOES TO SEE IT. So, there's nobody to blame for these endless franchises except you, Mr. and Mrs. No-Show, because the good movies don't make the money that studios need to warrant their existence.

Disney's live-action remakes of late have been spectacular. What I don't understand is how 'The Jungle Book' made almost a million dollars but 'Pete's Dragon' was almost considered a box office bomb. That is incredibly sad. If you haven't seen this movie, I urge you to. It's actually superior to the original.
This one was a heck of a good time at the movies, if you ask me. I am a child-at-heart, and I'm going to see a TMNT movie, regardless of what the critics say. And this movie was so much better than the first one (the 2014 film, I mean). Now, I am worried that we're not going to see this duo-logy turn into a trilogy, because nobody went to see this one.
Disney has had a record year at the box office, but this film didn't boost their successes one bit. And it was a Spielberg film! Pity that his first collaboration with Disney ended up a flop.
This film's box office returns were to be expected, I think, considering all the controversy that surrounded the project from day one. It's a shame, too, since the movie's pretty solid.
This one is still in theatres (as of this list's publishing) and is clearly not making the money it deserves. I'd compare this film to 'Saving Private Ryan'. It took Mel Gibson a decade to direct a movie after 2006's 'Apocalypto', and I'd say it was worth the wait. But, because it's Gibson's film, I'm not expecting the Academy to give it much thought.
Some love it, others hate it. Either way, a movie featuring the first on-screen pairing of Batman and Superman (as well as the first-ever on-screen appearance of Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg) should have made a billion dollars. That's just facts. 'Suicide Squad' received worse reviews and still made more money, comparatively.
The movie sucked. I think it is the worst. It didn't even deserve to make this much money
A small blip on the 2016 movie radar, but a golden one at that. Honestly, nobody seemed to know that this film existed, because had they known about it, they would have gone to seen it. It's funny, and clever, and very much worth your time if you love 'The Lonely Island'.
