2018 NFL 1st Round Mock Draft Collaboration (Randomator, SteelCity99 & 2storm)htoutlaws2012 Unlike the past few years I will have some expanded views from peers to join in on this thrilling time to see who falls where in this years NFL Draft. Like before my thoughts and others will only be on the 1st round. To spice it up, will pretend this is in real time meaning I and they will also include trade scenarios. Every draft I have seen has at least one signature trade you remember if it was good or bad depending on the team you supported to the absolute beginning. I will add needs next to each team as I move along with great amount of detail. With that said I leave you with this great line in all of sports.
Goddell: The NFL Draft is officially Open!
htoutlaws's Mock Draft
The Cleveland Browns are now on the clock
Team Needs: RB, QB, DT, OL
''Hey sunny who are we getting?'' if you know where this quote would come from then you have a good sense where i'm going with this. This is a very tough decision at the number 1 selection, There is a chance that they could go offensive tackle, but they still have another pick up here as well which not sure if I risk taking a tackle over a half back, or maybe even a quarterback possibility. The traded away Danny Shelton to the Patriots meaning they gotta get another guy in the trenches at some point. Ultimately is John Dorsey going to be the next Sunny Weaver with this crucial pick. ''With the first pick of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Clevland Browns select... Saquon Barkley, Running Back, Penn State.'' Barkley is without a doubt the best player of this entire class, while there has been a Penn State curse however after finally thinking about it long, and hard he is worthy of the first pick.
The New York Giants are now on the clock
Team Needs: QB, OL, DE, RB
The Giants were stunningly terrible last year loads of injuries in all, and the Eli Manning days could very well be over. Odell Beckham as of now may just stay with the G-man, and yet they also took a big hit with Jason Pieere Paul traded with the Buccaneers. The offensive line is awful they could use serious help at almost anywhere now losing Winston Richburg is a big blow. Darkwa is gone, and you Jonathan Stewart that's unjustified that the running game will be in anyway good this season. ''With the second pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, The New York Giants select... Josh Rosen, Quarterback, UCLA.'' If I haven't said already I strongly believe he is the guy for the taken. Sure he may have red flags marked, but take a dude from a big time program is where it all comes down to.
The New York Jets are now on the clock
Team Needs: QB, DL, T, TE
Jets truly defy the expectation of picking a want more then a need, and what I mean is the past 10 years they have gone without addressing an offensive player in the first round alone. I feel like Josh McCown is probably on his last leg at this point get somebody to learn from his way of playing. While the offensive line was not that great it looks slightly more addressed than what they ended up losing in the defensive line which was there strength of the team. You may need a tackle to help on the right side which is tough to protect. Sure you go no name Tight Ends, but you could you for extra blocking, or somebody that can catch decently. ''With the 3rd pick of the 2018 NFL draft, the New York Jets select... Josh Allen, Quarterback, Wyoming.'' At the end of the day many suspect that Sam Darnold could be the landing spot, but word is this is one of the two teams he refuses to play on therefore Take the Allen from Wyoming let him bench warm a bit then see what he can do from there.
Trade Alert! Bills are now on the clock after trading up for the 4th pick, and giving up a two 3rd round picks from this year, and next year to the Browns. Team Needs: QB, T, DE, LB
Will they take a quarterback up a four this could be now that Tyrod is gone, Overreach of a tackle would be a bit strange, but helps build that line, yeah you got Hughes and Lawson if Jets could go and find that next big stud at defensive end I wouldn't knock one bit considering there is a big time stud up there on the board. They need help at linebacker a lot of unknown on the squad that core could use some new talent. ''With the 4th pick of the 2018 NFL draft, The Buffalo Bills select... Bradley Chubb, Defensive End, NC State.'' Eat your heart out Indianapolis what a big steal by the Bills this should be a very interesting fit for Chubb. Its also one of those picks that maybe questioned over the years.
The Denver Broncos are now on the clock
Team needs: CB, RB, OL, S
With addressing the quarterback dilemma I eliminate the need for a quarterback right away, however there biggest loss comes from the defensive secondary. Chris Harris is gong to be the man now, but who will step in next to him? I would like them to add more depth at the running game they could really need a serious change up. One other thing I noticed with this Denver offense is having trouble protecting to move at all is another. I feel Denver would have a tough decision if they would consider taking a safety my way of looking at that would be Ward is gone, and Minkah, and James are on the board. ''with the 5th pick of the 2018 NFL draft, the Denver Broncos select... Quenton Nelson, Guard, Notre Dame.'' If trying to get the offensive line better it starts with going for the trenches, and I feel this is the safest pick you could go with being at 5.
The Indianapolis Colts are now on the clock
Team Needs: DE, OL, RB, LB
Colts are an absolute mess defensively, i'm alright with taking anything in that area aside from maybe safety since they did do this last year with Malik Hooker. This is by far the worst offensive line in football it needs upgrades bad otherwise Andrew Luck is gonna go out there on his last breath on the shelf for good Jim Irsay don't be arrogant do what you gotta do. Colts running game was very meh sure Frank Gore quietly reached 1,000 reads somehow, but they need that Edgerrin James type back that can really chance the way the offense plays very one dimensional. ''With the sixth pick in the 2018 NFL draft, the Indianapolis Colt select... Tremaine Edmunds, Linebacker, Virginia Tech.'' With three big needs they would be default go with what might be the top Linebacker on this board being Edmunds of Virginia tech.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are now on the clock
Team Needs: RB, OL, S, LB
This is a pretty talented team that is being wasted thanks to the stubbornness of there head coach not getting it. The big need for sure is running back, but unfortunately for the Bucs Barkley is gone, and now you may have to holdout for that next one to appear in the 2nd round which is not entirely bad since there are a lot of them that fall in that area. One area of concern is the offensive line there bad, but they need some help there if they can seize that opportunity. I feel like they could get that safety at this spot would be very good move for the Bucs to go either one for the taking. Linebacking core is still efficient, but put in another that's not on the weak side, and we might see a surprise team emerge in the NFC South. efficient ''with the seventh pick of the 2018 NFL draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select... Minkah Fitzpatrick, Safety, Alabama.'' This comes as a surprise that Darwin James would still be on the board at this point, but I originality had them taking Minkah because it seems to fit about right in place.
The Chicago Bears are now on the clock
Team Needs: T, DE, LB, CB
Awe yes the highly disappointing Chicago Bears, for starters they have got rid of the head coach at least, but Ryan Pace is still there which I question. They could use a tackle for sure I've seen games where Trubisky has been nailed pretty badly pressured on the sides. They could use some help in the trenches actually who can help out Nicks, and make an impact immediately? Now there defensive passing game is not bad its fairly decent I do feel though that its smart if you keep building i that way to start looking more like a defensive team than you are relying heavily on offense. ''With the eight pick of the 2018 NFL draft, the Chicago Bears select... Denzel Ward, Cornerback, Ohio State.'' Ultimately I have a closing in on Da Bears perhaps going defense, and it will be either up front which is the safe option, and then there's the secondary option where you may need to think ahead for Kyle Fuller who has fizzled out since his rookie year.
The San Francisco 49ers are now on the clock
Team needs: G,LB, S, T
The Niners were on there way to becoming one of the worst teams again, and instead Jimmy Garoppolo came to save the day the last 5 games. an did he resurrect them like the ashes beating teams like Jaguars, and Rams that is impressive, but now keep on building that with needs at perhaps the offensive line. Since Bowman has departed linebacker wouldn't hurt at all I question Reuben Foster's off-field indications are something to of concern. Niners have had enough of two of the biggest protesters in there team Kapernick bye, and so does Eric Reid. ''With the ninth pick of the 2018 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers select... Darwin James, Safety, Florida State.'' James comes off the board, but not to Tampa, but the other team colored in Red the 49ers who also have Richard Sherman in the backfield things get even bright, and bright in San Fran.
The Oakland Raiders are now on the clock
Team Needs: CB, LB, Edge Rusher, C
Raiders looked like a Super bowl team, but man were they are big letdown to everyone, and now Jon Gruden comes in will that change the mood of the team? Raiders secondary was just stunningly bad, and a huge part of that was unhealthy corners didn't help the situation much. One area of weakness on the offensive line was in the center area where it was no wonder where Derek Carr got hurt immediately. They could need another extra linebacker to really look more like a defensive threat they were not intimidating enough when it came to giving chucks in both the run, and passing game. They could get someone like Khalil Mack again who can play at two different styles of defense, and still be effective. ''With the tenth pick of the 2018 NFL draft, the Oakland Raiders select... Joshua Jackson, Cornerback, Iowa.'' For me he is the best Corner in the draft his got the size, the matching speed pursuit go with Jackson from Iowa for sure.
The Miami Dolphins are now on the clock
Team Needs: QB, DT, TE, LB
The Jay Cutler express is gone, and now with question marks if Ryan Tannehill truly is the long term I feel you need a young quarterback to against him. Big free agent blunder of both Julius Thomas, and Ndamukong Suh definitely hurt the team making those splashes moving forward. Then you also got Lawrence Timmons who really did no favors for the team marking the end of his career. They have clear needs, but they also could go a much more different route than that. ''With the eleventh pick in the 2018 NFL draft, The Miami Dolphins select... Mason Rudolph, Quarterback, Oklahoma State.'' This would be the biggest stunner if it actually happened I feel Rudolph is severely undervalued in this draft compared to others who i'm afraid to pick the like of Both Josh Allen who will be a bench warmer, and Sam Darnold whose still on the board, and hot heads like Baker Mayfield.
The Cleveland Browns are now on the clock
Team Needs: DT, RB, CB, OL
The Browns have pulled back stun us all in taking Bradley Chubb what route will the Browns go next? ''With the twelfth pick of the 2018 NFL draft, The Cleveland Browns select... Mike McGlinchey, Tackle, Notre Dame.'' There goes the two offensive lineman from the fighting Irish will both flourish long term career I believe the pressure is more on Mike than Quenton, he has to live up the years Joe Thomas was there all the rough times.
The Washington Redskins are now on the clock
Team Needs: C, S, DE, WR
The Redskins were fairly decent when Cousins did make an effort from a poor group of weapons around him he did okay with, and now Washington answers by trading for Alex Smith. They'll probably more less an average team with some mediocre positions, but I'd be surprised if that went far this season. They don't have that elite center quite on point, the secondary is still mediocre enough to be exposed, They could use another helping hand in the defensive trench next to Jonathan Allen which side want him is there preference. I don't like this receiving core one it get another explosive weapon until you get it right. ''With the 13th pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, The Washington Redskins select... Marcus Davenport, Defensive End, UTSA.'' Last year took a big steal in Allen who was a top 5 projected pick, and taking a guy who is somewhat underrated in the first round Davenport is a guy who could make some noise at the capital hill.
The Green Bay Packers are now on the clock
Team Needs: DT, OL, WR, S
I'm hoping the Packers are slowly going back to the 80's time where they were god awful because if not the Lions are back on the chopping block of what might be the toughest division in football. Bears might be much better with a new coach, Vikings look like a super bowl contending team, and if Packers manage to upgrade better than you then we have some serious problems, but what Green Bay needs in order for my fears to continue is Upgrade in the trench, insurance weapons just in case Randall Cobb ends up really start faltering. A little boost in the secondary more less safety helps prevent big passes. ''With the 14th pick of the 2018 NFL Draft, The Green Bay Packers select... Vita Vea, Defensive Tackle, Washington.'' Its a wet dream made in he double l hockey sticks this is something that not even Trubisky, or Stafford could survive both Daniels, Wilkerson and Vea storming into pursuit.
The Arizona Cardinals are now on the clock
Team Needs: QB, WR, OL, S
Oh here we go the worst team coming into the 2018 season The players I feel most bad for our David Johnson, and Larry Johnson those two have talent your not going back to the super bowl anytime soon. I'm not a fan of how this team chose to go target in this off season, and they still frankly need a healthy quarterback you call Bradford now in his 30's a reliable source to play all 16 games? Larry will be gone sooner or later it might be a good idea to find another receiver since both Brown are gone, and who else is there on the other side? You let Honey Badger walk to Houston what are you doing Arizona now you must address safety again. Offensive line is terrible Sam Bradford is gonna regret signing with the Cardinals for sure he'll be down on the ground like he was with the Rams, and Vikings, and Eagles guys a plague. ''With the 15th pick of the 2018 NFL draft, The Arizona Cardinals select... Lamar Jackson, Quarterback, Louisville.'' Jackson is the type of player you could place him as a secret Wide Receiver that could work well if the offense somehow can do what it wants to do which you know if Bradford gets hurt who knows maybe hell be Mr. Arizona.
The Baltimore Ravens are now on the clock
Team Needs: WR, TE, C, T
This might be the final ride for Joe Flacco you can't go further than this same goes for the Bengals's Andy Dalton eventually its time to go after young players. Despite not being one of the biggest needs its definitely something to lookout for, time to find a very explosive weapon whether its Receiver, nor Tight End strangely anywhere on offense would make sense for Baltimore honestly. ''With the 16th pick in the 2018 NFL draft, The Baltimore Ravens select... Calvin Ridley, Wide Receiver, Alabama.'' Sure he had a poor combine, but this is the case where that can be deceiving enough to go hey he is from Alabama though.
The Los Angeles Chargers are now on the clock
Team Needs: DT, OL, LB, Edge Rusher
All the Chargers are a few steps closer to making some noise in the AFC, Bosa has been exceptional talent, and even some big free agent signings have been key to there potential they could do this year. For the most offensive line is okay yet you could use depth if you truly want it. ''With the 17th pick of the 2018 NFL draft, The Los Angeles Chargers select... Roquan Smith, Linebacker, Georgia.'' Dramatic fall for another big stud name who fits the mold for a team like this that sees the type of player he can be as a bolt.
The Seattle Seahawks are now on the clock
Team Needs: RB, CB, DT, G
Legion of boom is officially gone there is a chance that Earl Thomas, or Kam Chancellor could be gone within the draft itself.Cliff Avril may not be around for long, and while Frank Clark has been a pretty good replacement who exactly will go in as that nose tackle? ''With the eighth pick of the 2018 NFL draft the Seattle Seahawks select...Will Hernandez, Guard, UTEP.'' I feel like offensive line has been the most ignored of these potions, and they make regret passing up on a guard in the late 1st round they need.
Trade Alert! The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are now on the clock
Team Needs: RB, T, LB, G
How could the Bucs be seeing in there sights to go after to let Jerry Jones go down with quite the number of 2nd round picks. Will this big risk reward pay off? ''With the ninth pick of the 2018 NFL draft, The Tampa Bay Buccaneers select... Derrius Guice, Running Back, LSU.'' Well many speculated Guice falls near the 20'd, but makes it still halfway through despite some questionable given media question he is a caliber NFL player to have in the gram of scheme.
The Detroit Lions are now on the clock
Team Needs: RB, DT, TE, C
I'm very optimistic about this season finally gone from all the nonsense that was most of the Martin mayhem era, and now we are going to get serious with Bob Quinn fully in control. The biggest weaknesses come from both a weak running game, and losing your nose tackle, and moving to a more 3-4 defense that doesn't excuse the fact you still need someone else in the middle. Now with departures like Travis Swanson, and Eric Ebron outta town these gotta be addressed as well. Sure we have a committee process, but will any of them fold into a starter? ''With the twentieth pick of the 2018 NFL draft, The Detroit Lions select... Harold Landry, Linebacker, Boston College.'' Matt Patricia coming in he'll want a more versatile type caliber defensive player, and that's where Landry would perfectly mold into a tough player to defend against.
The Cincinnati Bengals are now on the clock
Team Needs: OL, CB, S, LB
Bengals operate in the strangest ways ever, and what I mean by that is they'll find whoever has a red flag, and take them for what its granted freely even guys who keeled during the national anthem Eric Reid. Pacman Jones, and Vontaze Burfict should be gone those two have caused enough mischief, and its no wonder why many great players ended up leaving the dirty antics. Safety is a bit concerning since losing Reggie Nelson to the Raiders there not nearly as good in the backfield as they should be Dre has become that emerging player they needed, but where's the other help around him? Cincinnati's line was awful last year,a and I even warned this team would not be as good what do you know was I not right in believing this Offensive line was doomed from the start. Time to build again otherwise this team may get a completely redone look the next decade. ''With the 21st pick in the 2018 NFL draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select... Orlando Brown, Tackle, Oklahoma.'' This would not stun me sense this team really loves criminal heavy team it seems like keep on the weird strategy tactic I guess.
The Buffalo Bills are now on the clock
Team Needs: QB, T, LB, G
After pulling away a shocker by taking the best defensive player on the board where exactly would they go for next? They rebuild that damaged looking offensive line with question marks if Richie Incognito will be starting the season or not. Add an extra depth linebacker and maybe we have a capable team to make some noise for years, and of course this team has no real quarterback just yet leaving two big names still not drafted to this point. ''With the 22nd pick of the 2018 NFL draft, The Buffalo Bills select... Baker Mayfield, Quarterback, Oklahoma.'' Well no Cleveland, No New York, No Miami, No Arizona instead he has come down all the way back to Buffalo only taken a great big fall in that green room dying for his name to be called.
The New England Patriots are now on the clock
Team Needs: T, CB, LB, QB
This may sound crazy, but they need a long term quarterback backup future, and they forcibly lose him to the niners. The only one they may take worth a consideration is Sam Darnold, but his stats scare away many teams it seems like. new England offensive line looks really atrocious, and even worse they let go there best protector of Tom Brady in Nate Solder who has to fight for his life for a 37 year old Eli Manning, and his atrocious looking line. This linebacking core is awful needs desperate help if you expect Tom Brady to come anyway near the Super bowl ever again. Same goes for corner now granted Stephen Gilmore played alright, but there was no reason to bench Malcolm Butler in the biggest game of the year ego move, and assumingly his gonna fins Butler's replacement withing this draft. ''With the 23rd pick in the 2018 NFL draft, The New England Patriots select... Rashaam Evans, Linebacker, Alabama.'' This is a sign where Belichick will have his mind rounded towards a defensive draft focus.
Trade Alert! Cincinnati Bengals are now on the clock
Team Needs: CB, S, LB, G
What more does Marvin Lewis want outta his team, what move will be sealed from draft history let's find out. ''With the 24th pick of the 2018 NFL draft, The Cincinnati Bengals select... Sam Darnold, Quarterback, USC.'' The pattern kinda feels like it makes too much of coincidence in the sense you know the first player to be drafted in the Marvin Lewis era was Carson Palmer could that end with Sam Darnold?
The Tennessee Titans are now on the clock
Team Needs: DE, LB, DT, C
We know Tennessee can be a good quality team when there offensive line is on all cylinders, but at center maybe a weak point or if not that then its the lack of good weapons you give Mariota. I would have more of a defensive mind focus honestly. I trust you have what you need on offense if it still doesn't work too well then Mariota clearly needs receivers for sure. ''With the 25th pick of the 2018 NFL draft, The Tennessee Titans select... Arden Key, Defensive End, LSU.'' This would be a great pick since he would fit with a team like the Titans have him and Casey on opposing sides maybe too much too handle.
The Atlanta Falcons are now on the clock
Team Needs: DE, WR, LB, RB
Atlanta right now barely has any needs that I can say other then yes defensive end looks a bit concerning, and also the departure of Taylor Gabriel may go into a different direction on the offensive entirely. Linebacker, and running back are that much needs, but more less add for depth basically. ''With the 27th pick of the 2018 NFL draft, The Atlanta Falcons select... Courtland Sutton, Wide Receiver, SMU.'' They could use another weapon for Matt Ryan since he has struggled all year getting to Julio in the end zone would Sutton be a Randy Moss type player?
The New Orleans Saints are now on the clock
Team Needs: TE, DE, LB, DT
Inches away from playing in the championship what else could keep this team from fulfilling its destiny? Well for one Benjamin Watson's back, but problem is his in the decline age of Tight Ends get a younger one that's how Jimmy Graham put himself on the map for other teams to let him play on their type of offense. Another biggie that I feel is going to be overlooked is the front end of that defense not the back end. I say this when I seen them give up big runs when they needed stops in big time situations they don't quite have that, and or a true linebacking core to trust completely. ''With the 27th pick in the 2018 NFL draft, The New Orleans Saints select... Maurice Hurst, Defensive Tackle, Michigan.'' Calculated risk pick, but they gave Nick Fairly another chance to play, and he basically that kinda player fits for sure.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are now on the clock
Team Needs: LB, DT, S, DE
There's almost no need to touch offense at all in this draft Steelers offense is great enough but not when Jacksonville comes to put a stop to you. Not when it will be the next time we may see Ryan Shazier on the field again its possible they might go Linebacker here, but there's also a valid argument for a missing nose tackle that could help stop the run more effectively. Then the one area nobody believes is gonna be near this late in the first is safety Troy, and Ike have left the secondary has gotten much worse since. ''With the 28th pick in the 2018 NFL draft, The Pittsburgh Steelers select... Leighton Vander Esch, Linebacker, Boise State.'' Like I said this would be the popular selection if he was still available this late in the first round.
Trade Alert! The Dallas Cowboys are now on the clock
Team Needs: WR, TE, S, LB
Jerry Jones has somebody on his mind, but who? I just received word he has traded not only a 2nd round pick in 2020, but also Dez Bryant they cut very late in this draft process! ''With the 29th pick of the 2018 NFL draft, the Dallas Cowboys select... D.J Moore, Wide Receiver, Maryland.'' You know what they say In with the Moore, and out with Dez they say I'd say this be a good thing for Dallas to get him off their back.
The Minnesota Vikings are now on the clock
Team Needs: OL, WR, LB, FB
To me the Vikings are like the Eagles just a complete team all around ready to finally taste a Lombardi trophy sooner than later.Kirk really needs to feel a rthym with this Vikings squad, and by doing so get more depth on the offensive line what ever they prefer is efficient enough doing so correctly. Vikings could use a 3rd wheel type reciver one that's good enough to make any defense tough to figure out who Cousins could go to. Add in an outside linebacker more less, and maybe a more dive in fullback if anything else. ''With the 30th pick in the 2018 NFL draft, the Minnesota Vikings select.. Isaiah Wynn, Guard, Georgia.'' exactly what I mean there's not much to upgrade other than depth guys to have if you can't trade down with another team.
The New England Patriots are now on the clock
Team Needs: T, CB, QB, TE
Pretty much stated most of the first go only now there are big speculation if Gronkowski could be shipped to another team maybe a big swerve is in place being this close to the end of the first round.'' With the 31st pick of the 2018 NFL draft, The new England Patriots select... Jaire Alexandr, Cornerback, Louisville.'' Now we have found our answer for Butler's replacement at the number two corner slot another good choice for the Patriots if they both end up being on the defensive side of the ball.
The Philadelphia Eagles are now on the clock
Team Needs: G, CB, RB, T
Fly! Eagles! Fly! You are the super bowl champions, but unfortunately... you are in Dallas country as the boo's become massive. What route do the Eagles potentially go in with almost no real needs, and the ones that are are already out of reach. ''With the 32nd pcik in the 2018 NFL draft, The Philadelphia Eagles select... Dallas Goedert, TE, South Dakota State'' Sure they signed Richard Rodgers, and let go Trey Burton to Chicago, but Goedert would be an unpredictable weapon to have for Wentz to really ascend into greatness.
Randomator's Mock Draft
Pick #1 Browns: Josh Allen
Seeing what the Browns GM did to get Mahomes in KC last year it wouldn’t surprise me if he did something similar in Cleveland. They already have Tyrod Taylor so getting a decent backup would be a smart move.
#2 Giants: Bradley Chubb the Giants defense last year could use some improvement. Bradley Chubb could be a good addition to help fill in some gaps.
#3 Jets Josh Rosen
The jets really don’t have much of a QB and with a lot of them available I would expect them to get one. Rosen could fit in nicely with the Jets.
#4 Browns Saquon Barkley
The Browns could get a nice combo with a QB of choice and Barkley basically being the best player in the draft. For them to get him he could be another Zeke or Todd Gurely.
#5 Broncos Denzel Ward
With the No fly zone slowly falling apart I would bet that the Broncos would get a good defensive player to at least keep the defense somewhat alive.
#6 Colts Tremaine Edmunds
Edmunds is one of the better defensive players in the draft. The Colts are also desperate to try to get a defense to support Andrew Luck so Edmunds should help with that.
#7 Bucs Derwin James
James would be a good piece to add to the bucs defense that is mediocre at best. James could play all over the defense and help get stops which the Bucs kinda struggled with.
#8 Bears Quinten Nelson
The Bears are trending up but could use some protection for Trubisky and Nelson could give it. The Bears also have an advantage because they don’t need a QB so any team that does need one might end up kicking themselves for not drafting a good player like Nelson. Another advantage is that Nelson could fit perfectly in with the Bears.
#9 49ers Minkah Fitzpatrick
The Niners have been trying to fill in the defensive gaps with some of the legion of boom players. I think it makes sense to get another defensive player since they don’t have to worry about a QB.
#10 Raiders trades with Arizona trading a 1st, 3rd, & 5th round pick to get Baker Mayfield to back up injured prone Sam Bradford.
#11 Dolphins Roquan Smith
The Dolphins defense was relatiely mediocre because they really weren’t effective under Suh. It makes sense for them to get Smith who is better at making plays.
#12 Bills Lamar Jackson
The Bills currently need a QB and Jackson is one of the better ones left on the board. He’s as good as any of the other QBs in the draft.
#13 Redskins Vita Vea
Washington gave up the most rushing yards last year and the addition of Vea will stop runners due to his size and surprising mobility.
#14 Packers Calvin Ridley
With Nelson gone the packers lose one of their key offensive weapons and Cobb might not be enough. Ridley would be another good offensive weapon with a mix of Talent from both Nelson and Cobb.
#15 Raiders Da’ Ron Payne
The smart move for Oakland would be to build around Kahlil Mack on the defensive side as the defense ranked 23rd last year.
#16 Ravens Marcus Davenport
The Ravens should really try to add someone around Suggs who is still their best pass rusher at age 35. If they draft him then they could have a replacement for Suggs when he retires.
#17 Chargers Orlando Brown
Despite a poor combine performance Brown might be the answer to filling in the right tackle and be a key to the run blocking problems they had.
#18 Seahawks Trade with Steelers to get Rashaan Evans
Pittsburgh’s super bowl hopes were minimal after Shazier was injured. Evans is very similar to Shazier and this would be huge if they could get him.
#19 Cowboys Leighton Vander Esch
Esch could help an already solid defense and he could possibly be a pro bowl candidate.
#20 Lions Joshua Jackson
The Lions lost out on Malcolm Butler and they should look to get a good CB to help get the offense going.
#21 Bengals James Daniels
Cincy really needs offensive linemen and assuming Nelson goes early they should go for Daniels.
#22 Giants trade up with Bills to get Courtland Sutton
I don’t know if the Giants will trade Odell or not but either way Sutton would be a good offensive weapon.
#23 Patriots Mason Rudolph
I could see the Patriots getting a QB to back up Brady without trading up any farther to do so.
#24 Panthers Sam Hubbard
The Edge Rush was kinda lacking outside of Peppers and Addison. Hubbard could fix that and replace Peppers who assumingely won’t be around for more than 2 years with Carolina.
#25 Titans Harold Landry
I think it’s time for Tennessee to look to the future on defense Derrick Morgan and Brian Orakpo are their current starting edge rushers but Morgan will be a free agent at 32 next March. They need someone who could help stop Luck and Watson.
#26 Falcons Isaiah Wynn
Wynn had a great senior season and given the Falcons struggles with interior offensive line Wynn makes sense.
#27 Saints Arden Key
Cam Jordan had an excellent season but the front 7 needs some work. Key could be another dynamic pass rusher and help the front 7.
#28 Seahawks traded down to get Billy Price
At this point it’s no secret that the offensive line needs some help. Price could be a solution to at least help the problem.
#29 Jaguars Mike McGlinchy
Since they are deciding to stick with Bortles The Jags could get McGlinchy and have a serious run blocker instead.
#30 Vikings Will Hernandez
Since they got Kirk Cousins at QB it would seem stupid of them to not protect him. They also have a hole at one of the spots that Hernandez would fit well in.
#31 Patriots Kolton Miller
I don’t blame the Patriots for not signing Nate Solder due to him being injury prone but they need a new blind side protector.
#32 Eagles Maurice Hurst
Seeing how Doug Pederson kinda Comes from an Andy Reid perspective it wouldn’t surprise me if he went with a talented Defensive tackle as insurance for Fletcher Cox and Timmy Jernigan.
2storm's Mock Draft
With the First Pick I have the Cleveland Browns Selecting RB Sarquon Barkley. The Browns have been dreaming of drafting Barkley and starting a running game. Barkley is one of the top rated Running Backs in years. This pick could elevate the Browns to a really good team in a few years.
The New York Giants take QB Josh Allen with the 2nd pick. This is a smart pick with Josh Allen. If the Browns pass on Allen then this should be a no brainer. The Giants have Eli Manning soon retiring so drafting a really good QB would be good.
The New York Jets take QB Josh Rosen with the 3rd pick. Rosen is probably better than Allen in terms of talent. I have heard though that Rosen doesn't get along with other players well. This could dip his stock a little, but I doubt he will be affected by it. The Jets need a QB and this is the best one available.
The Cleveland Browns take QB Baker Mayfield with third pick. It's between him and Darnold. I like Mayfield in the system a little better so I have to go with Mayfield.
The Denver Broncos take G Quenton Nelson. Broncos have Case Keenum so they don't need Darnold and Nelson is one of the best players in the draft so why not.
The Indianapolis Colts take DE Bradley Chubb. Chubb be could a good fit for the Colts. They need some defense and Chubb is the best option.
Dolphins trade with the 7th spot to give up a second round pick in next years draft. The Dolphins take QB Sam Darnold. Darnold is a natural talent and could be really good.
The Chicago Bears take LB Tremaine Edmunds. They need to fill a hole at LB so why not take Tremaine. He could end up being a beast.
The San Francisco 49ers take S Minkah Fitzpatrick with the 9th pick. Fitzpatrick fits really well in the 49ers system and could start an amazing defensive unit.
The Oakland Raiders take CB Denzel Ward. The Raiders really need a CB and Denzel Ward might be one of the best ones.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers take S Derwin James. If Derwin falls they have to take him. They have a bad Secondary so James is smart.
The Cleveland Browns take OT Mike McGlinchey they need to upgrade the offensive since losing Joe Thomas was a big blow in their 0-16 season.
The Washington Redskins take NT Vita Vea. They need to get the defense to attack that quarterback.
The Green Bay Packers take CB Joshua Jackson. If they don't take Minkah Fitzpatrick its got to be Joshua.
The Arizona Cardinals take DE Marcus Davenport. They need some more defensive lineman and Davenport is a great option.
The Baltimore Ravens select WR Calvin Ridley with the 16th pick. I think Ridley is really underrated and could be really good.
The clocked ticked on him so he decided to not consider the factors to the second part of the first round.
The Los Angeles Chargers select Da'Ron Payne DT
The Seattle Seahawks select Maurice Hurst DE
The Dallas Cowboys select Leighton Vander Esch LB
The Detroit Lions select Harold Landry DE
The Cincinnati Bengals select James Daniels C
The Buffalo Bills select Billy Price C
The following remaining picks were auto piloted due to time constrains Sawyer ran out of time to this point.
The New England Patriots select Roquan Smith LB
The Carolina Panthers select D.J. Moore WR
The Tennessee Titans select Rashaan Evans LB
The Atlanta Falcons select Arden Key DE
The New Orleans Saints select Dallas Goedert TE
The Pittsburgh Steelers select Taven Bryan DT
The Jacksonville Jaguars select Courtland Sutton WR
The Minnesota Vikings select Will Hernandez G
The New England Patriots select Lamar Jackson QB
The Philadelphia Eagles select Jaire Alexander CB
Steelcity99's Mock Draft
1. Cleveland Browns
Sure the Browns will have Tyrod Taylor for the time being, however another quarterback is needed in the midst of an overhaul. I believe that the Cleveland Browns will take USC QB Sam Darnold as they usually take a quarterback every year in the draft.
2. New York Giants
While the Giants do need a successor for Eli Manning soon, they can improve their offense in other ways. With that said, I believe that the Giants will take Penn State RB Saquon Barkley and look for a quarterback later on via free agency.
3. New York Jets
In my opinion, the Jets cannot be solely reliant on Teddy Bridgewater especially considering their backup QBs. Though I hate to go with the crowd on this pick, I would not be surprised to see the Jets take Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield.
4. Cleveland Browns
Here we go again. As Cleveland is rebuilding on both fronts, they do need defensive help with the retirement of Joe Thomas. Therefore, the Cleveland Browns will look to improve their defense with NC State DE Bradley Chubb.
5. Denver Broncos
I don’t see Paxton Lynch or Trevor Siemian becoming franchise QBs for Denver. With that said, It would make sense for the Broncos to take Wyoming QB Josh Allen.
6. Indianapolis Colts
The Colts defense was bad last year and needs improvement. With that said, I would expect the Colts to take Ohio State CB Denzel Ward.
7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Defensive improvements are needed also for Tampa Bay. With that in mind, I would expect the Buccaneers to take Florida State S Derwin James.
8. Chicago Bears
The Bears last season had issues with the defensive line. Looking in that direction, I see the Bears taking Virginia Tech ILB Tremaine Edmunds.
9. San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers need improvement on both the offensive and defensive lines and cannot go wrong with a pick in either of those areas. Therefore, I believe that that the 49ers will select Texas-San Antonio DE Marcus Davenport.
10. Oakland Raiders
The Raiders had offensive line issues last season which led to a very disappointing season. With that, I see the Raiders taking Georgia OLB Roquan Smith.
11. Miami Dolphins
Miami does need a quarterback that can replace Ryan Tannehill and one that is not named Jay Cutler or Brock Osweiler. However, defensive improvements are also a very pressing issue which would suggest a pick for Washington DT Vita Vea.
12. Buffalo Bills
Buffalo is one of several teams with QB problems. Looking at this year’s QB class, I’m predicting that Buffalo will take UCLA QB Josh Rosen.
13. Washington Redskins (oops can’t say that name)
The Redskins need a running back that can improve the offense for this coming season. I believe that Redskins will select LSU RB Derrius Guice.
14. Green Bay Packers
While much of the problems for Green Bay came from Aaron Rodger’s injury for most of the season, the Packers need help on defense. With that, I believe that the Packers will take Alabama S Minkah Fitzpatrick.
15. Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals have the worst wide receiver situation in the league right now. With that said, I see the Cardinals taking Alabama WR Calvin Ridley.
16. Baltimore Ravens
Joe Flacco for now will be the foreseeable franchise QB for the Ravens despite his consistent mediocrity. The Ravens need other offensive improvements which would suggest a pick for South Carolina TE Hayden Hurst.
17. Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers were the big surprise last season considering the player composition. With that they can always go up on defense which should lead to selecting Alabama DT Da’Ron Payne.
18. Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks missed the playoffs last year due to a leaky secondary. It’s safe to say that improvements in this area of the defense would be key for this to happen. Overall, this is why selecting Iowa CB Josh Jackson would make sense.
19. Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys were also a team that came very close to playoffs before the end. Unlike the Chargers, the Cowboys need wide receivers especially after releasing Dez Bryant. I believe that the Cowboys will select Maryland WR D.J. Moore.
20. Detroit Lions
The Lions could use some defensive improvements for a possible playoff run which is why I believe the Lions will select Texas-El Paso G Will Hernandez.
21. Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals had offensive line issues all of last season which could be remedied with a selection of Notre Dame OT Mike McGlinchey.
22. Buffalo Bills
With an earlier selection of a QB, I would expect the Bills to make improvements on defense. On that note, I see the Bills selecting Michigan DT Maurice Hurst.
23. New England Patriots
With the Patriots, minor tweaks will have to be made in order to get back to the Super Bowl. With Tom Brady getting older each year and no clear successor in his place due to the Jimmy Garoppolo trade, I predict that New England will draft Louisville QB Lamar Jackson to be Brady’s understudy.
24. Carolina Panthers
The Panthers offense is looking good for the upcoming season while the defense needs improvements in the secondary. Therefore, I see the Carolina Panthers going with Stanford S Justin Reid.
25. Tennessee Titans
The Titans had offensive line issues throughout last season that need addressed. With that in mind, I see the Titans drafting Iowa C James Daniels.
26. Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons need a defensive tackle if they want to possibly go further in the playoffs and make a deep run. With that, I see the Falcons taking Florida DT Taven Bryan.
27. New Orleans Saints
The Saints only pressing need at the moment is a tight end. With that, I would not be surprised for the Saints to take South Dakota State TE Dallas Goedert.
28. Pittsburgh Steelers
With Ryan Shazier out and recovering for the 2018 season, the Steelers will need a defensive lineman/rusher. With that in mind, I believe that the Steelers will take Boston College EDGE Harold Landry.
29. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars are looking for more depth at the wide receiver position for another playoff run. With that, the Jaguars take SMU WR Courtland Sutton.
30. Minnesota Vikings
All signs for Minnesota point to someone at the guard position. On that note, I see the Vikings taking Georgia G Isaiah Wynn.
31. New England Patriots
After settling the backup QB issue, I see the Patriots adding to their defense. With that, I believe that New England will take Boise State ILB Leighton Vander Esch.
32. Philadelphia Eagles
With the win in Super Bowl 52, the Eagles could add anybody and still be a major contender this year. I see the Eagles adding a running back to the fold. In this case, Philadelphia takes Georgia RB Sony Michel.
Goodell: That concludes round one of the 2018 NFL draft.
