My Favorite Lyrics - Lovefrombadlands 11/10 Reviews“What’s an 11/10 Reviews?”
Hello there friends, foes, and followers! It’s lovefrombadlands and welcome or welcome back to a post series you either forgot about or never heard of: Lovefrombadlands 11/10 Reviews! I know I haven’t done a review for a really long time, but that’s okay, because today I’m doing something that’s at least kind of related to being a music critic! I’m going to be talking about my favorite song lyrics of all time, what they mean to me, and why I like them! Anyways, without further ado, let’s begin!
Also, these are in no order. Okay, let’s just start the post before I think of more interruptions.
The first lyric I will be sharing my appreciation for is from the song Boom Clap by Charli XCX. Now, I bet you’re thinking “that is the most boring and meaningless song ever! Lovefrombadlands has a bad taste in lyrics!” Well, you shouldn’t be saying that quite yet, because you didn’t even hear the lyric. The line I really enjoy from this song is “you let me lose my shadow.” I didn’t realize how good this lyric was until the day I began writing this post (July 3, 2018) when I was swimming. I was singing the song, and wondering what the lyric could represent. Since a person’s shadow is behind them or follows them, that could represent the past, so the line could mean “you didn’t care about my past,” while using an excellent metaphor.
The next lyric I enjoy comes from the song If You Want Love by NF. I would say NF is a fairly underrated rapper, so maybe after you hear this excellent lyric, you would check him out, although this whole song… wait, the whole Perception album is the definition of “lyrical masterpiece.” Anyways, the line I like most in this song is “Ask me how I’m doing, I say ‘okay,’ but ain’t that what we all say?” This is one of the best lyrics of all time in my opinion, because it’s the first time I’ve ever heard a lyric with that meaning, and it’s extremely relatable. Although I love the use of metaphors in lyrics, straightforward lyrics like this one can be just as excellent.
Now, I bet you’re wondering why I haven’t included any lyrics by my favorite music artist ever yet, because unless you’ve never heard of me in your life, you’d know I love Halsey! Well, although the lyric I am talking about this time is from an unreleased song, I think it still counts. The lyric comes from Slow, and it’s “I know she’d love you if you only let her, cause I’m a mistake and we both could do better.” I actually have these lyrics as the lock-screen on my phone currently, because they just remind me of a situation in my life.
I also have another lyric by Halsey, and it’s so good, that part of it is currently my profile description on this very website! It comes from a song off her 2017 album Hopeless Fountain Kingdom called Angel On Fire. I’m not sure if it could be called a lyric because it’s the whole pre-chorus and then some, but it’s “I talk, and drink, and laugh about things, and fall in love in my backyard. Now, it’s my own anxiety that makes the conversation hard cause nobody seems to ask about me anymore, and nobody ever cares about anything I think. And nobody seems to recognize me in the crowd, in the background, screaming “everybody look at me!” Now, I’ve faded away, you know, I used to be on fire.” I really relate to this lyric in quite a few ways, one being some things on this website, because I’m still doing all of the things I used to, but I just feel like everyone stopped caring about me, and I’m feeling less and less motivated because I feel like I lost the audience I once had, but at least I’m still making this post, even if you all think it’s the worst!
The final lyric I will be talking about in this post comes from Payphone by Maroon 5. The excellent line is “you say it’s too late to make it, but is it too late to try?” You may have seen this lyric on my profile as my state and city, since I usually like to include song lyrics on my profile since I just love music. Anyways, this lyric describes many friendships I’ve had that just… didn’t turn out.
Anyways, although I only did 5 lyrics, I really hope you enjoyed this post! If you want, I can do part 2, or I can do some of my least favorite lyrics, or you can suggest things for me to review, or you can just tell me to never make a review again because I’m the worst music critic ever! I would love to take all of your suggestions! So, have an 11/10 day, and an excellent Fourth of July!
Also, when I was editing this post, I had Siri read it back to me so I could check any errors, and it was really funny! - visitor
