The Top Ten

1 Kanye West Kanye West Kanye Omari West is an American rapper, songwriter, and fashion designer. He was born on June 8, 1977 in Atlanta, Georgia. After West's parents divorced, him and his single mother moved to Chicago, Illinois. At the age of 10, West temporarily moved to Nanjing, China, because his mother was teaching more.

Kanye's music has influenced rap greatly. 808's pioneered sad rap and emotional RnB which would later create acts like Kid Cudi, The Weeknd and even Drake. You could also go as far as saying Kanye helped make 2018 emo rap with 808's as well, even Lil Uzi said in an interview that 808's was a big influence on him. his other album Dark Fantasy also brought about a new way of using samples and using lot of features to make an album feel bigger, look at Travis Scott's Astroworld and Rodeo, there is a clear Kanye influence on both of those albums.

2 Lil Wayne Lil Wayne Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. is an American hip hop artist and is often referred to as one of the worst rappers of all time. He was signed to Cash Money Records by Birdman at a young age. Before he became a household name and the artist he is today, he was 1 quarter of the southern rap group The Hot Boys, more.

Lil Wayne, like chief keef and future is one if the reasons why the current autotune/mumble rap wave exists, without Wayne there'd be no Young Thug or Lil Uzi. Wayne also made both Drake's and Nicki Minaj's career who are both now mega stars in not just rap but music as a whole. If you ask any current 2018 rapper who their top 3 most influential rappers are Lil Wayne would be in the list.

3 Drake Drake Aubrey Drake Graham, known professionally as Drake, is a Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer and actor, born on October 24, 1986 in Toronto, Canada. He started his career on Canadian reality show "Degrassi: The Next Generation".

Drake has made a lot of rappers careers over the years just through features alone, including: The Weeknd, PARTYNEXTDOOR, The Migos, Blocboy and more. He even made Tay Keith's career as everyone wanted a Tay Keith beat after Look Alive. His Dancehall hits such as: One Dance and Hotline Bling also changed pop music. His influence can even be heard in UK grime through artists such as Not3s, Yxng Bane and Mostack all having a dancehall vibe similiar to drake's

4 Kendrick Lamar Kendrick Lamar Kendrick Lamar Duckworth (born June 17, 1987) is an American rapper and songwriter. Raised in Compton, California, Lamar embarked on his musical career as a teenager under the stage name K-Dot, releasing a mixtape that garnered local attention and led to his signing with indie record label Top Dawg more.

With his albums "good kid M.A.A.D City" and "To Pimp A Butterfly", he brought storytelling back to rap and most conscious rappers post Kendrick either sound like him or use his techniques. To Pimp A Butterfly is also widely labelled a classic album because of how great and impactful it was.

5 Future Future

In my opinon there are three main pioneers of autotune rap: Kanye, T-Pain and Future. whilst Kanye used autotune for a heartbreak album and T-Pain used autotune for RnB and club tracks. Future was the one who combined autotune with trap beats and after he did that everyone copied his style including the likes of: Travis Scott, Young Thug, Chief Keef, Desiigner and pretty much everyone in the game.

6 Chief Keef Chief Keef Keith Cozart, better known by his stage name Chief Keef, is an American rapper and record producer from Chicago, Illinois.

After the chicago drill wave everyone sounded Keef, other rappers even started using his ad-libs, he is arguably the reason why mumble rap exists as well. Without Keef most "lil" rappers wouldn't exist. Without Keef almost every Chicago rapper in the game right now (Durk, Gherbo, Bibby, etc) would not have a career.

7 Death Grips Death Grips Death Grips is an American experimental hip hop band from Sacramento, California, formed in 2010. The group consists of vocalist MC Ride, drummer and producer Zach Hill, and recording engineer Andy Morin.

Although not well known in mainstream culture, Death Grips has quietly been hugely influential to Souncloud rap, emo rap and alternative rap all at once. Using bassy beats and being loud on tracks is a clear influence to the likes of xxxtentacion and scarlxrd and pretty much every soundcloud rapper that screams on their tracks like they do. They've also clearly influenced the likes of Odd Future and $UICIDE BOY$, their album The Money Store is also obviously what Kanye's album YEESUZ tried to be.

8 Tyler the Creator Tyler the Creator Tyler Gregory Okonma (born March 6, 1991), better known by his stage name Tyler, The Creator, is an American rapper, record producer, and music video director.

Tyler and Odd Future pioneered the alternative/acid rap wave seemingly overnight with the song Yonkers. During 2011-2014 every teenager and amateur rapper wanted to be Odd Future. The wave that Tyler created allowed rappers like Chance and Childish Gambino to come into the spotlight. Also you can hear Tyler's influence throughout Soundcloud rap as well.

9 Migos Migos Migos is an American hip hop trio from Lawrenceville, Georgia, founded in 2008. They are composed of three rappers known by their stage names Takeoff, Quavo and Offset.

The Migos gave a new feel to the atlanta trap scene with their hit single Versace. After this many rappers copied the migos flow and Atlanta rappers took over the rap scene including rappers like 21 Savage and Lil Yachty popping out of the atlanta woodworks. Also after the migos really blew up off "Bad and Boujee" every rapper and their mother wanted Quavo or the migos for a feature.

10 ASAP Rocky ASAP Rocky Rakim Mayers, better known by his stage name ASAP Rocky, is an American rapper, record producer, director and actor from Harlem, New York.

Rocky and ASAP Mob brought the light back on New York, almost being like this era's version of the Wu-tang clan. Rocky also popularised high fashion in hip hop and flexing fashion knowledge. After Rocky started wearing high fashion clothes everyone copied him, think about it, before Rocky who was rapping about Balenciaga and flexing on the gram with supreme or bape, that's all Rocky.
