The Top Ten
1 The Misfits

My favourite film, a film starring three legends and several well-known character actors. And yet, it still seems not too many have seen it or love it. It's their loss.

2 Battle Beyond the Stars

If you see only one post-"Star Wars" space adventure, make it this one. It's got George Peppard, Sybil Danning, Robert Vaughn, and a James Cameron-designed spaceship with breasts!

3 Repulsion

My vote for scariest movie ever made. It might just give you nightmares.

4 Hush Hush, Sweet Charlotte

A lot better than "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? " if you ask me. A Southern Gothic classic.

5 A Patch of Blue

A beautiful, sensitive story about an abused, sheltered blind girl who is basically rescued by a nice African-American man who tries to get her some education and freedom.

6 Edge of the City

A waterfront bully drama that, in my opinion, is even better than the more well-known "On the Waterfront".

7 The Magic Box

Robert Donat and practically every British actor active in the 50s, in a moving portrait of one of cinema's forgotten pioneers.

8 Robin and Marian

The one Robin Hood movie that is more emotionally moving than it is adventurous and thrilling. The finale is especially tear-jerking.

9 Frailty

The late, great Bill Paxton made his directorial debut with this disturbing Southern Gothic pic. It's a shame it wasn't a huge hit. It deserved to be.

10 Black Water

A genuinely frightening, low-budget Aussie crocodile movie.
