Martin Canine's Most Listened To Songs of This Week (November 5th to 11th, 2018) According To His Smartphone

It's monday, so you know what that means, right? Of course you do - another week begins. But apart from that, we also look at what I listened to this week.

...I say this week was quite balanced between artists and genres again. Also this was one of the weeks in which I listened to all of the ten songs extremely extensively (sometimes only the first few items were stuck on replay, while the other songs were on here for about three listens - but I think these ten were played a two digit number of time each).
The Top Ten
1 Jolene - Dolly Parton

There's something so extremely emotive about her performance. Like she's really utterly terrified to lose the man she loves to another woman.

2 Supreme - Robbie Williams

Truly one of the best hit songs of the 2000s. Robbie Williams is one of the best singer-songwriters of his generation.

3 I Like It - Cardi B, Kontra K & AK Ausserkontrolle

For those who wonder who Kontra K and AK Ausserkontrolle are and what they rap, as this version also got some international exposure, let me explain. Kontra K is a very popular German rapper whose music can be compared to Eminem's "Recovery" phase or NF, whose albums already topped the charts, while AK Ausserkontrolle is a relative newcomer who just sort of established himself in the scene. Kontra K's verse is mostly about how he prefers brotherly friendships and honesty over fame and money while sticking to the Spanish theme of the music with several references to the language. AK Ausserkontrolle pretty much delivers a predictable, basic verse about hustling, but his melodic delivery sort of makes up for that.

4 When the Rain Begins to Fall - Jermaine Jackson & Pia Zadora

One of the great 80s pop anthems, was a hit pretty much everywhere except for its country of origin. I just love this tune, it has so much energy.

5 Maria (I Like It Loud) - Scooter vs. Marc Acardipane & Dick Rules

If you ever decide to come over here, try this: go to a bar and start chanting the chorus melody, "Duh duh duh dududuh duh duh". Then see what happens.

6 Disco BloodBath (Reign in Infamy) - Blood On the Dance Floor

Yeah, I know. But I like their newest album. Can't argue with a pop album on which almost every song is an earworm. Especially this one.

7 Ja Mann! - Bonez MC & Raf Camora

Raf Camora - having introduced Afrotrap to German speaking countries and having since shown everyone how it's done properly.

8 Wir 2 immer 1 - Vanessa Mai & Olexesh

One of the most irresistible dance pop earworms of the year. Simply infectious.

9 Wish You Were Here - Rednex

Did you expect anything else?

10 Touch My Body - Mariah Carey

"...I will hunt you down".
