Top 10 Films I Dislike But Everyone Loves

Here are some films that has been praised by critics. But to me, I don’t think it deserves the praise in my opinion.

The Top Ten
1 Titanic

This is the most overrated movie of all time! Without the love story, this could’ve been an exceptional film. The movie was very well researched historically and beautifully filmed. But why did James Cameron need to tack on a love story to one of the most powerful dramas in history? The Titanic tragedy had everything. Bad luck, bad decisions, courage and cowardice, hubris, and the injustice of class distinction. It didn't need a pitchy love story. I’ll admit that I cried during the movie. Not over Rose and Jack. I cried over the elderly Strausses lying in their bed, embracing each other as they prepared to die. And I bawled outright when the Irish mother told their babies about the paradise Tir na n’Og while the water rose in their doomed cabin. Those scenes strucked me as agonizingly real! It’s also predictable! Since it’s the story about Titanic, you will know what will happen. This had the potential to be something really amazing, but it failed.

I love this movie! I will agree that it’s movie perfect, like Jack totally had enough space to get on that board! Let’s not get into that... Anyway, I love the romance between Jack and Rose and I wish that the movie had spent a little less time with the sinking. This is my favorite romance movie and it gets a 9/10 from me.

2 Paranormal Activity

I really don't get the praise for this film. The film is so boring! It’s just showing what would happen when you’re sleeping! There was nothing scary about this film! The only thing that was scary, was the very end where the woman gets close to the camera and scares you. I thought that was really scary! I didn't expect that to happen! Not only was it not scary in the least bit, but the main character grates on my nerves to th point of inducing a migraine. You would think she would be over the stair creaking, door moving “demon” if it’s been happening to her since she was eight. But no, she needed to get eaten. The pacing is also very slow. I do agree that this is the best in the franchise, but the sequels were terrible! They were the exact same thing! Needless to say, I wasn't too impressed. Not nearly enough happens in the film to make up for its unlikable characters and slow pacing.

3 Beauty and the Beast

I just found out that the director that did this film directed Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1 and 2. Which can probably be a reason why this film isn't very great. This was another Disney remake that was just to cash in on people’s nostalgia for Beauty and the Beast. It’s not a terrible remake by any means, it actually had few good ideas on how to improve on the original. But the feel of it was just not the same. One of the things I found the original was how it occupied a middle ground between a straight up fairytale and gothic romance. Here, it’s downright flat and is completely missing the darkness and horror of the Beast’s private world. Even the Beast’s freakout feels flat in comparison. The CGI was pretty bad. The styling seemed a bit off. Their animated counterparts were much more expressive and their designs were less distracting. I actually don't mind Emma Watson as the main role. While her acting wasn't bad in this film, it wasn't good. Her Belle is flat and ...more

4 Rango

Yeah, I’m not really a big fan of this film. How did this film win an Oscar for best animated feature over Kung Fu Panda 2? That film was a better film than this! I do admit, that this film had phenomenal animation, the voice acting was great, and it had some funny moments, like both hawk chases. Johnny Depp did a great job voicing the character! The reason why I didn't really like this film because the jokes didn't really hit the mark and some try too hard to be good. Like the scene at the very end where he gets thrown off his horse when it rears. That’s been done a lot of times and they played it straight. The character designs look really ugly. And this film does the liar revealed plot! It’s become very overused! Rattlesnake Jake was amazing, though. I loved how he had a sense of honor, and even seemed genuinely shocked when the mayor unfairly threatened Beans and forced Rango to hand over his gun. Overall, I really didn't enjoy this film, and don't really get all the praise ...more

I love this movie! I feel like it’s so unique to any other animated movie before it. At first, it may look like a small kids movie, but it actually is a quite dark and gritty western, and I like that. The plot isn’t the most interesting, but it’s fun nonetheless. The animation is amazing! The textures look so real! I just wanted to share my thoughts and I totally respect your opinion.

5 Sausage Party

This film is and I like to put it this way, one long sex joke! Besides a couple of morbid deaths of the food and other things that I was expecting more of, you get a lot of sex jokes. And most of the jokes bored me. It gave me a few chuckles here and there, but really, I was just not finding it funny. Closed to the end of the film, not the actual ending, but close enough a scene comes on in which I basically knew was coming. And when it happened, it was the most annoying and least bit of funny to watch. I think this film fails into the stoner movies and that could also explain why I didn't find it funny either. It did however, made me hungry thinking of food, but the film itself didn't make me feel guilty about going to the grocery store and “killing” the food by eating it.

6 The Fast and the Furious

The only good film in this franchise is the seventh film, the rest were awful! Even this one! This film is basically car crashes with no story and no interesting characters! The acting is bad from everyone in this film! Right when you watch the trailer and you see car chases and sexy women, you know what you’re gonna get! Everything in this film is predictable and cheesy, plenty of tight vests, muscles and tattoos! Of course since this is a Cohen film, there has to be a bit of CGI thrown in, blasting through the engine as it ignites, not a bad idea, but it looks hokey. the are moments in the film where the action is entertaining. The big crash stunt at the end was very cool. I don't get how this made it to 8 films. Each film is exactly the same thing from the previous films!

7 Hercules

While not the worst Disney film, it’s the most disappointing. Hercules is a great myth story, tailor made for Disney. They could’ve made this a great idea, but instead opted for Rocky meets Superman. In this film, we got the epitome of cash ins. Anachronistic references everywhere. It worked in Aladdin because the Genie was making them and they were always part of a joke. Here, it dominates the whole film! The story they did tell was ridden with plot holes, full of stock 90’s clichés like the misunderstood love interest and the goofy lead with the wacky animal sidekick. The Hydra was cool and James Woods as Hades was great, but the est of the film was a huge dud!

8 Happy Death Day

Don't get me wrong, the concept of the film is good, but I don't think it works a lot in this film. There are a few plot holes in this film and their motivations doesn't make no sense. I thought the main character Tree was really unlikable. I didn't really care about the things that happen to here while trying to find the killer. And some scenes felt unnecessary and should’ve been cut. Like when Tree is walking naked! I didn't even know why that scene even happened! I bet that scene was there since this is a teen slasher film, they wanted to add that so teens can enjoy the heck out of that and laugh about it. Another thing is that this film didn't even reached the levels of the studio’s other works like Get Out. I’m actually looking forward to the sequel because I’m kinda curious to see how that could work. Hope it will be better because this in my opinion was a mediocre film.

9 Pitch Perfect

There are good things about this film. The relationship between Anna and Skykar was set up nicely. The scenes in the radio studio were cute. The accapella performances were cool. And the super nerd who is finally allowed to join the group and turns out to be really good. Now I don't really like Rebel Wilson as a comedian. Even though her character had some killer lines, she delivers them with little comic time. But I don't get why people thinks she’s funny. Some ideas of the film are half baked at best. Like Anna Camps character. The entire film, she behaves like a jerk and at the end they’re all friends! Just like that, I expect more of this conflict. Or the arrogant DJ who doesn't listen to Becas’ music. Then he listens to it and thinks it’s good! The Bellas are also pretty boring for 90% of the film. Then they come up with a crazy genius performance for the finals out of the blue! Wouldn't they have had to practice for this? Seemed pretty complex to me, considering that ...more

10 The Book of Life

I thought Coco was way better. While the animation is really good, I was constantly distracted by how poorly drawn the characters were. The story didn't engage me and for that matter not caring for any of the characters. I thought the musical numbers were catchy as I still listen to. While it’s not a terrible film, this film tries to hit the bullseye, but doesn't come close. Like I said, Coco is way better since it had the characters weren't poorly drawn, had an engaging story, and making me care for the characters.
