Martin Canine's Most Listened To Songs of This Week (January 21st to 27th, 2019) According To His Smartphone
Yes, it's about that time again.Let's take a peek at which of the 226 songs I listened to on the phone this week were most prominently played by me.
English version of "Ich will immer wieder... dieses Fieber spür'n", although very loosely translated, not to say it's about something entirely different altogether. Nevertheless, this album, "The English Ones", featuring English language versions of songs from her first four albums, may be a good starting point for foreigners to get into the music of Germany's biggest popstar of the 21st century.
Shania Twain's most popular song in Austria, not too well known in Canada and the US however.
What did Lady Gaga say once? "Let's have some fun, this beat is sick." I think that quote fits here.
Need I stress how great of a song that is? Melody, vocals, instrumentation, lyrics - vulnerable, delicate, perfect.
One of her most overlooked songs, and the boost of confidence many people need sometimes. It's rare to have rappers actually encouraging the listener.
Shindy's first number one hit single, even more than that: after four chart topping studio albums, it's even his first top ten song. Until 2017, German hip hop was a sole album genre, and like in schlager, individual songs did never chart high despite good album sales, as fans of the song bought the CD rather than downloading or streaming it. Streaming received a significant boost in 2018, with the combined success of Capital Bra and Raf Camora, and Shindy's first song since 2016 naturally did better as a single. Unfortunately, there's no audio sample as it's not on the US iTunes store. American hip hop fans might check it out on YouTube - the icy white video looks really good too.
Twisted, dreamy, unsettling. "All the best people are crazy" - she got a point there.
That's the most harmonic, warmest and most elegant song about cuckin' I have ever heard.
Bushido on full provocation mode. Like, the entire album is just aggressive and vulgar as hell. I love it. Again, no US iTunes sample, which is a pity, especially since most other Bushido albums and songs are available.
One of the best songs of last year, and of the decade.
