2 2007 New England Patriots The New England Patriots are a professional American football team based in the Greater Boston region. New England Patriots are one of the few teams to have 5+ wins in the Super Bowl.

Undefeated through 18 games entering the Super Bowl, the Patriots were unstoppable. But instead, the New York Giants gave them their first loss 17-14.

It was supposed to be a repeat for Georgetown, who was expected to beat conference foe Villanova in the NCAA Title game. But perhaps the calendar (April 1st, 1985, aka April Fool's Day), could've been a sign of an upset, which is what happened on this night.

The Colts were going to be Super Bowl champions in Super Bowl III. They were going to be better than the Vince Lombardi-led Green Bay Packers in the previous two Super Bowls. It was destiny. Oh, if it weren't for Joe Namath's guarantee about the Jets beating the Colts. But, it happened and the Colts lost.

5 2005 USC Trojans Officially known as the USC Trojans, this collegiate athletic program represents the University of Southern California. Based in Los Angeles, the program has garnered numerous national championships across multiple sports, including football and basketball. The team colors are cardinal and gold.

While USC's appearance in the 2005 Rose Bowl has been erased, their coronation was destined to happen then. But, #2 Texas had other ideas as they won 41-38, ending USC's chances of three-peating.

6 2015 Carolina Panthers The Carolina Panthers are a professional American football team based in Charlotte, North Carolina, that competes in the National Football League.

Led by MVP Cam Newton, the Panthers went 15-1 and demolished their NFC competition in the playoffs. But they were upended by the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50 with Peyton Manning and a dominant Denver defense ruining their plans.

In a round-robin World Cup Final, Brazil needed a tie against Uruguay to win the World Cup. Feeling confident, the fans treated the match as a party and celebration for a championship that had yet to be one. Sadly, Uruguay won 2-1 to become World Cup champions.
