Top 10 Commonly Used Sayings or Quotes That Are False

The Top Ten
1 “Anything is possible.”

Nope, not everything is possible. Such as time travelling, flying with wings, lifting a building or anything like that, any superpowers, etc. They would be kind of cool to have, though.

March Madness enough said. Although filling out a perfect bracket is actually impossible

2 “Practice makes perfect.”

Perfect practice makes perfect when you're aware of your weaknesses while practicing; it's all about analyzing and adapting into other methods when things don't work, rather than repetition. When you practice without a clear goal in mind or ignore the imperfections you made, you're more likely to stick to your bad habits which is only going to be harder to forget overtime.

Wrong. Believe it or not it's possible that if you don't practice the right way you won't improve. You can't just expect to get better by chucking a basketball at a hoop you have to work on dribbling and your shooting form.

3 “You can do anything if you put your mind to it.”

That's what I said to myself before committing genocide in thirteen different countries, and it worked! Those losers died like my phone battery 0.001 seconds after opening any online game. So I don't agree with this being on the list

This is basically the same as the anything is possible one.

I would like to see how that turns out for me.

4 “Humans only use 10% of their brain.”

I liked the movie Lucy, but I don't think this theory is true.

5 “COVID-19 is just a flu with a 99% survival rate.”

Wrong! COVID-19 is the worst pandemic in human history and will kill more people than the black death and spanish flu combined. This disease will wipe out a third of the world's population and rebuilding could take millenia if even possible.

Good luck having children then! Tell that to your children and grandchildren if you can survive!

Not true if you are over 65 years old, otherwise its pretty accurate.

6 “Homosexuality is a sin.”
7 “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.”
8 “All men ever think about is sex.”

I mean guys think about it because it's just by nature but to say that's all they ever think about is going overboard. But you also can't accuse men of thinking about sex when women will dress "flashy and flirtatiously" and post it on social media they're literally asking for it

9 “Once a cheater always a cheater.”

It's possible to learn from your past but it's like trust once you lose it it's gone for good

10 “Just ignore them and they’ll leave you alone.”

So just remember the next time you're getting beat up and just ignore them! They'll surely stop punching you. Self defense what is that?

Depends on what it is. The police tend not to leave you alone just because you ignore them.

11 "If everyone thought the same, that would be boring."
12 "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me."

If this were true, I would NOT feel shame in everything I've done. Nor would anyone else. But you all remember those quotes that I said that everyone hated, and they offended EVERYONE. But on a related note, is it REALLY selfish to want a better world?

Depends on if you're close to the person that says it or not. When I say that, I mean if it's your parents or your long term significant other. Otherwise, letting words hurt you is usually on yourself to control.

13 "Life is what you make it."

If this were true, then COVID-19 would not exist. Case closed!

If that's true, then I was born at Buckingham Palace, started acting on Disney Channel, a famous model, & is the most beloved and awarding winning actress in the history of Earth!
-Alana the Pony

14 "Money is the root of all evil"

Also "the love of money is the root of all evil" (original form) either way violence and cruelty existed before money so I don't think it's the only thing responsible (although it absolutely can bring out the worst in people).

15 "Easy as taking candy from a baby."

The Mythbusters actually tested this, and it takes more force than you would expect.

16 "The good thing about hitting rock bottom, there’s only one way left to go and that’s UP!"

Because there is simply way too far of a gap between "rock bottom" and "functioning member of society." Usually you only go in a horizontal line rather than up.

17 "It's the thought that counts"

Certainly it's not entirely true it's great if you have good intentions but whether that actually ends up helping people is more important.

18 "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get."
19 "Money doesn't buy happiness"
20 "Coronavirus isn't actually real and it's just a myth by the Gov"
21 "The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell"
22 "Hindsight is a wonderful thing"

How is knowing something AFTER the event helpful? Surely foresight is better?
