Most Addicting Video Games of the 90s

The Top Ten
1 Super Smash Bros.

What better way to fight your friends than to duke it out in this addicting fighting game.

2 Streets of Rage

This has been a Mega Drive favourite of mine for ages. Especially for a game of its time it plays wonderfully and the music is amongst the best to appear in a video game to this day.

Fantastic beat em up and the gameplay is as addicting as it gets.

3 Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
4 Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped

Best Crash game in my opinion. Always fun to play this. Addictive 3D platforming and one of the best PS1 games.

I used to play this game a lot as a kid I even beat it I still have it on the orginal ps1 but I play it on PS2 lol

5 Chrono Trigger

One of the best JRPGs. Gameplay is addictive and it has a lot of replay ability.

6 Mortal Kombat Trilogy

What can I say? It's Mortal Kombat.

7 Mario Kart 64

The most addicting part about this game is watching the salt pile from your friends grow.

I used top play this all the time as kid at a relative's house.

I wish I had a Nintendo 64 (and this game) during my childhood... :(

8 Twisted Metal 2

Super fun racing game that has some of the most addicting gameplay to come from the genre.

9 Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Plus it introduced Tails, who deserves more credit and must reclaim his position of second most popular Sonic character from Shadow.

Still one of the best Sonic games ever made - I'm sure we're all wishing Sega had always kept the series at this gold standard.

I prefer sonic 3 and k but 2 is definitely my favorite to speed run due to its relatively short length.

Who doesn't love this Sega classic. One of the best 2D platformers I have ever played and the gameplay is super addicting.

10 Ape Escape

A game about catching monkeys. Pretty much it. But the game itself is fun! The sequels were pretty addictive as well.

The Contenders
11 The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
12 Super Mario World
13 Parappa the Rapper
14 Street Fighter II
15 Final Fantasy 7
16 Super Metroid
17 Quake

Honestly, if you put aside the graphics (which are still pretty good) it is just like half life or any other FPS puzzle game that you can find. The animations are really good, and Quake has a wide variety of weapons. There are many monsters and I think it’s kind of fun to shoot them without looking up or down. Overall, this is a great game and you should play it if you haven’t before.

18 Doom
19 Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
20 Medievil
21 Goldeneye 007

Paintball mode!

22 The Lost Vikings

Although maybe not as well known as most of the games on this list, this is unique puzzle-solving fun. If you want a game where clearing a level is super satisfying then look no further than this.

23 Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters
24 Pro Evolution Soccer
25 Silent Hill
