The Contenders: Page 3

41 The Astonishing - Dream Theater

The first Dream Theater album to reach number one on the US Billboard Rock Chart.

I Can't believe the horrible Kanye West is above this flawless beauty. - Metalmaniakkk

Should be in the Top 10.

This seriously shouldn't be so low.

42 For All Kings - Anthrax

One of my favorite Anthrax albums!

43 Wildflower - The Avalanches

Honestly, I was kinda skeptical about its quality at first, seeing how Frankie Sinatra I didn't exactly enjoy, and the fact it was a sophomore album released 16 years after a masterpiece. But, thankfully, I found myself at ease, because what I got was a great album which was to 60s psychedelia what Since I Left You was to 70s disco. - ArchAces

What the hell its doing at 112? - zxm

55 Holy Ghost - Modern Baseball

From the guitars at the end of Holy Ghost/beginning of Wedding Singer to the hard hitting lyrics at the end of Just Another Face, this album has it all. The combination of catchy choruses and lyrics that make you really think about life make this album a must-hear. Plus, the message that the band is trying to send about mental health through both personal experiences and the songs of this album is incredible.

56 Hydra 3D - Dat Adam

An astonishing debut by a very unique German group.

Mixing hip hop with experimental electronica sounds (it's NOT cloud rap as some critics call it), Taddl, Ardy and Marley aka that Adam deliver serious sociocritical content in a sometimes very artful and bizarre way that is even more experimental than Kanye West. But the album is, even with all its serious social comments, never something that will put you down. It has several humorous elements and is ultimately a celebration of life, they just try to give this world some great values back they think it lost over the years. It also has several references for all anime fans out there.

The entire album is designed to sound futuristic, it makes heavy use of Autotune, but it's one of thd few times where it actually sounds artistic and perfectly fits the mood. You never get the feeling they use it because it's cool at the moment, but because it adds to the cyberpunk-ish feeling of the music. They also use distortion in a ...more - Martin_Canine

57 More Than Ever - Sims
58 Awaken, My Love! - Childish Gambino

He was a great rapper, but you can really tell that after he had a child his music really changed. - Gruunge

This is a great album in my opinion. Yes, he is not rapping anymore, which disappointed me at first. Yes, his new music is a bit different than what it used to be, which was hard to get used to. Despite this, he made what is one of the best R&B style albums of the year, which in my mind shows how his new style deserves some serious extra credit. Props to my man Gambino.

59 Let Me Get By - Tedeschi Trucks Band
60 Paradise Valley - Grouper
