Top 10 Albums that are Good but Overrated

The Top Ten

1 Nevermind - Nirvana

It is a good album but its also the most overrated album ever is it seriously the best grunge album? No Dirt by Alice in Chains in pretty much every way is better than this album is and yet its always so high on best albums of all time lists and I bet its also because of that one song "you know the one" - christangrant

A lot of it was actually ripping off the Pixies - Caleb9000

I still stand by this being one of the most underrated albums in history. - ProPanda

This song literally defined grunge, and it's one of the most influential albums in history. The fact that only one song off of it got big was disgraceful (their only overrated song by the way). It deserved a lot better. - ProPanda

Hmmm yes, to be honest, occasionally I like to listen 1-2 songs from this album (once in a month) but the worship for this album is almost ridiculously overrated... acclaimed music top 3000 albums - nr. 3 Nevermind by Nirvana... what?

2 Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles

I can't see why this is considered The Beatles best. To me, Revolver, Abbey Road and the White Album are better. - Metarock

This album was never my cup of tea... to me these songs are more like annoying than good, but it's only me, I can understand if people like it.

3 Led Zeppelin IV (aka ZOSO) - Led Zeppelin

It's a very good album and probably Led Zeppelin's best, but 3rd best album of all time? Not really. - Metarock

This time Led Zeppelin plagiarized less since their first 3 albums. Not bad album, but I can only say what I said on the others: far from the best. Most people like When the Levee Breaks, but I think it's not that good though...

It Is a good album but its not top 10 material for best album of all time - christangrant

4 Thriller - Michael Jackson

It's good but far from the best album ever. - Metarock

Far from the best but really good. My favorite is Beat It because it's technically a hard rock song, but I have nothing against the other songs, it's a really good pop album.

Really nothing but glorified Disco. Great music for clubs and dancing, but not much beyond that.

Yes it's a good album but greatest album ever? No - christangrant

5 Revolver - The Beatles

Tomorrow Never Knows and Eleanor Rigby are pretty good, but the other tracks are children songs. And many times it's nr. 1 on lists... seriously?

6 Paranoid - Black Sabbath

Master of Reality is both heavier and better. - Metarock

Yes it's a great album but
1 its not even in my top 5 best sabbath albums
2 its not metal and the songs are very easy to play
3 Master of Reality and the debut album are both better
4 Heaven and Hell is Sabbath's best album - christangrant

I simply don't get why should be this the "best metal album ever"
1 - it's not a metal album
2 - it's not influential
3 - it's not a debut album
4 - War Pigs is not that good
5 - Paranoid is good, but far too short to be a masterpiece unlike some people say it is...

7 Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan
8 Ok Computer - Radiohead

Perhaps their last GREAT album, but definitely not their last good one - xandermartin98

9 Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park

Yes even ill admit this album is overrated but its still their best album in my opinion - christangrant

10 The Black Parade - My Chemical Romance

Not Agood Album - Du

The Contenders

11 Starboy - The Weeknd
12 In Utero - Nirvana
13 Bloodsugarsexmagik - Red Hot Chili Peppers
14 Waking the Fallen - Avenged Sevenfold
15 Master of Puppets - Metallica
16 Led Zeppelin I - Led Zeppelin
17 Late Registration - Kanye West

Kanye's undeniably a great producer and most of his works absolutely deserve the high status they have in hip hop circles. Musically, he is on top of his genre.
But I never got why Late Registration is seen as hid greatest. In fact, it is his least inventive, basically he tried to recreate the sound of his acclaimed debut album, but it doesn't sound as fun and varied. Each of his albums had a distinctive sound, and often sounds completely different than mainstream, but this one is basically a rip off of his debut. Of course, it has some very good music, especially the singles, but as a whole... it's just not as surprising and creative. - Martin_Canine

18 A Night at the Opera - Queen
19 Led Zeppelin II - Led Zeppelin
20 Led Zeppelin III - Led Zeppelin
21 Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath
22 Rubber Soul - The Beatles
23 Dookie - Green Day
24 Nevermind the Bollocks - The Sex Pistols

Sex Pistols could thank their fame only for this album.

25 Blizzard of Ozz - Ozzy Osbourne
26 The Downward Spiral - Nine Inch Nails

No, this album sucks all the way... sorry.

27 Meteroa - Linkin Park
28 Toxicity - System of a Down
29 Spreading the Disease - Anthrax
30 Among the Living - Anthrax
31 Tomb of the Mutilated - Cannibal Corpse
32 Dear Agony - Breaking Benjamin
33 Phobia - Breaking Benjamin
34 Ace of Spades - Motorhead

Very, very overrated. I think except the Ace of Spades the songs aren't even that good.

35 Meliora - Ghost

I didn't add it but I agree - overrated as hell. It's a mediocre album at best. They combined all possible cliches from rock, pop and metal music, and the result is very generic - there's nothing new or unique there. And did the song Cirice deserve a Grammy for Best Metal Performance? No. There's nothing special in this performance. - Metal_Treasure
