Albums that are Often Considered the Best of a Band but They are Not
The thing with bands like Metallica and Slayer, is that they are great bands and what makes a great band great is having multiple great albums, if you can clearly state that one album is the best it usually means that the band is a one album wonder
For Slayer I love almost equally South of Heaven(most catchy songs), Raining Blood (most heavy album), Seasons in the Abyss (most diverse album) and Show no Mercy
Metallica is an amazing band and I love almost equally Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightning, Kill Em All, and...And Justice For All, in that there is no song of these albums I don't like
For me this is tied with Ride the Lighting
Ride The Lightning is the best in my opinion. AJFA is good too.
I am a Ride the Lightning guy too.
Iron Maiden again is another great band when a multitude of great Albums: Powerslave, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, Killers, Debut Album, and The Number of the Beast all could be argued to be their best album
Bon Scott albums were better
Black Sabbath is a great band they have multiple albums that are equally as great you have Paranoid and Masters of Reality from the Ozzy days, then you have Heaven and Hell and Dehumanizer of the known Ozzy albums. What makes any of these albums better than the other really comes down to personal preference, one album just has more of your top 10 songs from the band on it and it could very wel change from time to time
I like Paranoid, but I honestly end up listening to Master of Reality more frequently. Maybe it's because of the thicker sound.
"Heaven and Hell" is the real deal! But even Master of Reality is better than Paranoid.
Man I love this album but there are other good ones too.
Everyone says Van Halen is better.
Megadeth I think is the one band where their albums equally mix the great songs across their album, each album has 2-3 standout songs. No one album has an overwhelming majority of their best songs
or to put it the negative way Megadeth doesn't have a great album, just a bunch of good albums
RIP: Holy Wars, Hangar, and Tornado of Souls
CTE: Symphony, Sweating Bullets, and Skin O My Teeth
SFSGSW:
Youthanasia: A Toute Le Monde and Trains of Consequences
Jazz (1978) is better.
Their most popular, not their best.
Definitely In Utero. It was intentionally made less accessible, less polished bringing a more raw and natural sound. The lyrics were build on themes unlike Nevermind.
As for Bleach, it was even worse than nevermind. It's mostly an okay album, nothing special or extraordinary about it. The drum parts in it especially sucked as their drummer at the time, Chad Channing was inexperienced and didn't fit into Nirvana's sound.
Not even the most grungy album. I prefer In Utero and Bleach.
I consider a number of Yes albums to be better than this one, with Tales from Topographic Oceans being their best.
Who names their own band Yes?
I prefer Persistence of Time but I don't even like that album very much
I like Toxicity, but I end up listening to their other albums more often. Maybe it's because of the thicker sound?
"Sgt. Pepper's Lonely hearts club" is generally perceived as the best.
What? Nobody says that; Ok Computer is considered the best, with Kid A second and this third or fourth.
Why did I always see an aeroplane landing in a forest on the cover?
Very good album don't get me wrong but when a band has put out so many quality albums it's really unfair to constantly hype up the same album like you're always pampering the same child out of the rest. Anyway, Opeth rocks!
