Best Studio Albums of All Time Excluding Debut Albums

This is a list of the best studio albums which were not the band's first studio album released.

The Top Ten

1 Ride the Lightning - Metallica

A true waste of a list. Several titles like Sgt. Pepper, Revolver, and Highway 61, that are generally considered to be the greatest albums of all time are far down in the rankings, and do not appear to have received a single vote beyond the original nomination.

This was their refined second album which sounded amazing while also being thrash metal and all at the same time, having some of the best songs of all time with amazing riffs, solos, and vocals. It deserves to be #1. - Songsta41

This Is best album ever - Disturbedpotato

2 The Number of the Beast - Iron Maiden

This has their most popular (generally known and liked) song Run to the Hills, and their best song of all time, the fan favorite Hallowed be thy Name. Even after that, there are more amazing songs like Children of the Damned, The Number of the Beast, 22 Acacia Avenue, the Prisoner, and Invaders. Total eclipse and Gangland are very good too. - Songsta41

3 Rust In Peace - Megadeth

Amazing musicianship and a thrash metal classic

4 El Camino - The Black Keys
5 Origin of Symmetry - Muse

I feel so stupid... I thought this was their debut. - IronSabbathPriest

6 Z - My Morning Jacket
7 Vs. - Pearl Jam

This album is fantastic. It deserves as much attention as Ten gets - LizardKing99

8 The Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd
9 It Still Moves - My Morning Jacket
10 Powerslave - Iron Maiden

The Contenders

11 Nevermind - Nirvana
12 Somewhere In Time - Iron Maiden
