Top Ten Albums that Topped the German Media Control Charts in 2017
This list is not about the most successful albums in Germany in 2017, and not about the best German albums of 2017. This list is about the best albums that have at one or more points topped the German album charts in 2017. Germany does not have separate charts for specific genres like the US.The full list can be found here with some extra information (in German):

This is a really fine album and Bushido's best work in years, again having much of the spirit he had 10 years ago.
Nevertheless I am kind of mad at this topping the charts. SpongeBozz released "Started From the Bottom / Krabbenkoke Tape" the same day, a 115 minute epic adventure that excites beyond the hip hop genre and features many tracks of A-league lyricism, it was a much anticipated album and surpassed his first album by miles - he completely vanished for almost two years to work on this. Bushido releases albums annually, often several a year, and "Black Friday" was just another one. SpongeBozz only came at number two, due to Bushido's huge status in the German rap scene.

@Metal_Treasure: often metal albums chart high, even though I have to say none of the metal albums spread any hit singles that receive much airplay. Genres other than indie, pop or maybe some pop rock rarely receive any airplay on radio or music channels, schlager advertises itself through T.V. where schlager shows are aired, hip hop through the internet on YouTube and magazines, so the genres still manage to top the charts and sell their CDs. Metal albums aldo manage to chart high. Nightwish's and also Blind Guardian's albums often chart in the Top Ten or Top Five, but their songs aren't "hits". I actually don't know how they do that, but I guess there are just enough metalheads who keep buying the albums. Germany's sales are mostly based around physical albums, less on individual song downloads. So metal being an album genre sure helps.
Wow, I am surprised a thrash metal album topped the charts.
