Format:
Album cover (band) and comparative album cover (band)

No, I'm not biased towards rock and metal. It's just when 90% of your collection is that it's inevitable. I'm happy for albums of other genres to be on here.

Bands can be added more than once.

The Top Ten

1 Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (Iron Maiden) and Iced Earth (Iced Earth)

Yes, the alternative American cover to Iced Earth's self-titled album reminds of the Iron Maiden's cover (Iced Earth album has 2 more covers - European and Japanese cover, and a remastered cover). - Metal_Treasure

By this I mean the original artwork for Iced Earth album. The remastered edition cover doesn't look like Seventh Son and in my opinion looks cheesey. I much prefer the original blue cover. - IronSabbathPriest

2 Dystopia (Megadeth) and The Astonishing (Dream Theater)

So much so that I'm half convinced that the cover for the Astonishing is the rejected alternative artwork for Dystopia. - IronSabbathPriest

3 The Dark Side of the Moon (Pink Floyd) and Colors (Between the Buried and Me)

I also consider Colors to be the modern metal equivalent to Dark Side of the Moon. Every song flows into the next. Both brilliant albums. - IronSabbathPriest

4 In Utero (Nirvana) and Angel of Retribution (Judas Priest)

Both show metal angels. - IronSabbathPriest

5 Dystopia (Megadeth) and Dystopia (Iced Earth)

Yes, I noticed all these things, too. Also, both album cover arts are mostly grey. And both covers look post-apocalyptic. Iced Earth album came out 5 years before Megadeth but I don't think Megadeth ripped off Iced Earth's ideas. - Metal_Treasure

Not only do they have the same title, the covers both show futuristic technologies. - IronSabbathPriest

6 Scum (Napalm Death) and Operation: Mindcrime (Queensryche)

Both are in black and white. Mindcrime II could also be included I guess, but I tend to avoid talking about that album (only good song is The Chase, with Dio on guest vox) - IronSabbathPriest

7 Here Comes the Sun (Klone) and One More Light (Linkin Park)

Two fairly similar sunset covers. But the similarity ends there. One is an incredible diverse French progressive album, while the other is a trash heap trying to sell out. Guess which is which. - IronSabbathPriest

8 Insurgentes (Steven Wilson) and The Power to Believe (King Crimson)

Both have people with gas masks on. - IronSabbathPriest

9 The Great Southern Trendkill (Pantera) and Brotherhood of the Snake (Testament)

Both have snakes on the cover. But the resemblance ends there. Both great albums though. - IronSabbathPriest

10 Look What the Cat Dragged In (Poison) and Hole Patrol (Steel Panther)

At #10 and not higher because it's a deliberate parody. - IronSabbathPriest
