Best Albums of All Time
The Contenders: Page 5
Should be in the top ten! Every single song on this album is incredible and beautifully written. Clocks, politik, god put a smile upon your face, are all amazing but then again so is everything else on the album. It really shows Coldplay's true talent and versatility with each song. Incredible album
A lot of the albums above this, they just have two or three standout songs. This should be in the top ten because every track is a classic and is worth listening to.
Coldplay's most distinctive album, not just because of the made for radio hits (Clocks and The Scientist) but more importantly the more artistic statements made through the title track and Amsterdam. The best top to bottom album the group made.
Best Coldplay's album.V 11 Comments
Alright. I am very confused as to why the doors are way down at number 39. Honestly people, do you really prefer shania twain and Linkin Park? This is ridiculous. The Doors album, The Doors is probably the single best debut albums for a band ever. Every song has it's own little twist and every song is absolutely in every way a piece of art.
"If the doors of perception were cleansed everything would appear to man as it is, infinite. " How Jim coined their name. This band is indefinitely one of the most important bands earth has ever experienced, and honestly should not be this low on the list.
One if the greatest bands of all time with the greatest keyboardist in rock, the most underrated drummer in rock, and the most inventive jazz guitarist in rock. Honestly they only have one kinda bad album in their discography and it isn't even that bad. It's criminal that this band is this low.
36 as a position for this sheer masterpiece is justification that humans have totally lost touch in music. But then again, you have to be at Jim's level to understand.
Haha just about to say the same thing as the guy below me you guys prefer Linkin park, and generic rap albums over The Doors? - Metalfan2112V 12 Comments
The greatest punk album of all time. This is THE album of the people. Even though it's rough around the edges, without it, music as we know it wouldnt exist
Uncompromising in every way. It felt like a declaration of war when it came out.
Raw punk at its finest. London calling and dookie are also good.
It is an album, but they started something very important.V 5 Comments
An iconic album which should be in the top 10 albums of all time. Every song tells a story, powerful emotive lyrics, classic ballads like Heaven Can Wait contrast with up tempo tracks like Dead Ringer for Love, and some tracks combine the two with a level of light and shade that modern artists today cannot emulate. Truly superb.
'Dead Ringer for Love' is not on this album, it's on, as the title almost gives a slight hint, 'Dead Ringer for Love'.
Still a major album today -paradise by the dashboard light, 2 out of 3 ain't bad are songs you can never really tire of - duncangreen
One of the best selling albums everV 8 Comments
Amazing. George shares so much of himself. Many top songs. The most Beatle solo album. Probably as these were written during the Beatles. Releasing these masterpieces allowed George to feel lighter and start afresh.
Listen to it. Then decide an apropriate ranking - Billyv
American idiot. The 2nd best album of all time after thriller. 5 superhit singles rest 8 superb songs with different creativity, art, music and lyrics. And if you're are saying HYBRID THEORY sold 30 million copies, its wrong. The true value is 24 million but american idiot sold 14 million copies. I accept that but there was different time. At that time internet was not so popular so people just buy the album. But almost after 5 years when american idiot was released the internet was popular in all over the world, so people around the world did not need to buy a copy from a shop. AND IN ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE american idiot was ranked 22 best album of decade but in reader's choice it was at rank.1. And in both two list there was no hybrid theory or meteora of linkin park. IN KERRANG MAGAZINE american idiot was ranked 5 at best album of all time. And the songs are amazing in AI.
American Idiot came out at a time when people where afraid to speak out due to 9/11. Green Day didn't care about what people where and wheren't supposed to say, they released the album filled with rage and disappointment about America and it's politics anyway.
The storyline throughout the whole album is appealing to the youth as everybody can find something to identify with. And with a mix of angry rock songs like "American Idiot" to emotional ballads like "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and "Wake Me Up When September Ends" I don't see how this can't be considered the greatest album of all time.
Even if it's almost 6 years since it first came out it is still current with a now on going Broadway play.
That, for me, makes American Idiot the obvious choice on this list.
Nothing comes close to this. I am sorry but it just doesn't. People buy into the hype of a lot of the albums above because they get told it is great. But actually sit down and listen to this album a few times. All the songs tell a story like a book it is sheer genius. This is also a band who was about to split up and wrote this about America. What normal people will not admit to seeing about the world Green Day was not scared to show people the world they was living in away from what the media tells you Green Day tells it straight. This may not sound like complete punk but trust me this is as punk as it gets.

Beyonce sasha fierce album is the album that really made her become the celebrity she is today that album and the single ladies put a ring on it music video made her a international superstar today she is a triple threat she set the bar so high no other female artist can't compete with her and I think it will be that way for awhile especially she is a beautiful woman with sexy great Dance moves.
Study show that reading the comments on a Beyonce/Rihanna/Justin Bieber thread can give you brain cancer.
This album is a masterpiece, and it sickens me that it is 224th.V 2 Comments
The king of the guitar at his best. All Along The Watchtower, Crosstown Traffic, Voodoo Chile. This album is electric, energetic, original, full of virtuoso Hendrix performances. This is the best album ever produced!
So deserves to be in top 20 at minimum.
Better than Are You Experienced by a mile.
Its hard to believe people are voting for sissy boy bands over this tough heavy album. What the hell people
One of their best. Great ballads. True power.
Best album ever. It contains "Walk" and "Mouth for War"; isn't it enough to be the best?
First 6 or 7 songs are great, then it slides a little bitV 2 Comments
Wouldn't this be shocking if this actually was #28?
Thrash classic, how is Master Of Puppets and Ride The Lightning So High and this so low? - Lucretia
I think this is better than pet sounds, but I don't think many people have listened to it - RecklessGreed
Still way too low, another one that should have been in Rolling Stone's 100 best as well.
Love this album 9 sellout out concerts in perth wa on the back off brothers in arms tour near on 100'000 people great concert
Greatest album of all time for me. Definitely belongs in the top 50. If not, it must be higher.
What an album! Should easily be in top 20. So many amazing songs:
- Brothers in arms
- Money for nothing
- Walk of life
- So far away
- Your latest trick - SSchirm
Great album, but guys, stop hating on Living Things and saying "why won't LP return to their roots" because you know that they definitely won't make a Hybrid Theory 2.
One of the best album ever created.
It deserves to be at number 1..
BEST ALBUM EVER CREATED.
Thanks Linkin Park for existing
Hybrid theory is average at best it belongs no where near the rest of the albums here. Why they're so popular on this site I will never know
20 IS a little low for the best album by the most popular band on the planet. Has sold 29 million copies since 2000. BIG DEAL. Songs awesome. Style awesome. Mike shinoda awesome. Ches ben awesome. And in the end it doesn't even matter?
The best and most underrated album is thisV 61 Comments
"The Only One Scared Of Death Is The One That Didn't Contribute Enough In Life"-Makaveli The Don Killuminati - MAKAVELIthedon
Every single track was amazing and diverse in nature. It has a lot of top songs which defined Tupac's career
This is one of the greatest rap albums of all time by one of the greatest rappers who touched the mic. His lyrics were very deep, he brought emotion to hip hop and at the same time was a thug raised by the streets. He was a true inspiration! The greatest rapper of all time! Rest in peace Tupac!
First Double Disc Album in hip hop history, certified Diamond, and with Singles like How do you Want it and the smashing hit California Love how can it not be great. It should be in the top 50 or at least in the top 100. Other songs on this album are great too like : Ambitionz az a ridah, All bout u, 2 of Americkas most wanted, Only God Can Judge Me, Picture me Rollin', All Eyez on me,V 8 Comments
If you have cloth ears, then this will clear the problem.
