The Contenders: Page 5

81 Slippery When Wet - Bon Jovi

28 million records baby! Deserves to be in the top 10! People have only heard prayer, bad name and dead or alive, which are their masterpieces! But when you hear the whole album including Never say goodbye, Raise your hands, I'd die for you and wild in the streets, you will understand how truly amazing this album is! It was due to this album Bon Jovi became famous and till today in 2012, have maintained their popularity! They got a younger fan base with Crush and an country rock fan base with Lost Highway! Incredible!

Slippery When Wet defined the 80's! Bon Jovi's career at this time was in full swing as many other bands were as well but unlike the "others" listed above Bon Jovi did not follow the downward spiral of "sex, drugs and rockn'roll" no instead they chose a path of example and inspiration. For these reasons and many others this album certainly deserves more credit than it is receiving here. It represents not only an entire album of unforgettable music and lyrics that defined a generation.

has some of the best rock anthems on this album - Living on a prayer, wanted dead or alive, yglabn and nothing left to say. The only ones that deserve to be in this top ten are MJ, Queen, Bon Jovi, Pink Floyd, The Beatles and Metallica - idolangelx13

The greatest band, till now this band still exist and still show in the world

82 City of Evil - Avenged Sevenfold

Has some of my favourite songs from my favourite band with some of the best drumming and guitar they've played a7x foREVer

Every song on this album is enough for the top spot. It has been extremely underrated by this poll, it seems no one has properly functioning ears.

This album almost make me like a beast! This album just like the symbol of "GO TO DEATH"

I'm not into Pink Floyd, it's good, I just don't like it, this is my favorite band ever. - EliHbk

83 Master of Reality - Black Sabbath

Are you kidding me, one of the best vinyl's in terms of guitar riffs. Deserves the top 50 at least I mean there's not even a bad song on here

Amazing album

84 Painkiller - Judas Priest

One of the greatest albums of the history metal music.

This album is a masterpiece of metal. It gives me so much energy that I can do a Genkidama

85 A Rush of Blood to the Head - Coldplay

Should be in the top ten! Every single song on this album is incredible and beautifully written. Clocks, politik, god put a smile upon your face, are all amazing but then again so is everything else on the album. It really shows Coldplay's true talent and versatility with each song. Incredible album

A lot of the albums above this, they just have two or three standout songs. This should be in the top ten because every track is a classic and is worth listening to.

Coldplay's most distinctive album, not just because of the made for radio hits (Clocks and The Scientist) but more importantly the more artistic statements made through the title track and Amsterdam. The best top to bottom album the group made.

Best Coldplay's album.

86 Pinkerton - Weezer

Come on? 99? IT should be in the top ten at least! This is by far the most experimental Weezer album, and Rivers Cuomo definitely indeed make this album the most honest and dark emotions that anyone has in the common like. If How could Green Day, My Chemical Romance, and even Fall Out Boy be above this? I've never heard so much raw passion and emotion in any other album! Let's get to the top 10!

A musical masterpiece. Back when it was released, it got some underground success in the emo world, but it was hated by the 1994 =w= fans, because it was more dark than there previous Blue album. But now it's a cult classic, and is one the best albums of all time. If anything, this albums is WAY more emotional than American Idiot, while this you can actually feel the emotions put into such an amazing album. It is a masterpiece of an album, and it will always be my favorite simply because it made me cry, and the emotions have changed me.

In all honesty It should be in the top 20 at Least. It has so much emotional background to it, there is no denying that this album is timeless. It's a cult classic and there will never be an album like it that touches you the way Pinkerton does.

This album is pure greatness. I was listening to it as I read this.

87 Illmatic - Nas

Why is this album not at least in the top ten on this list. Christ is seems like the people who vote on these lists think that music died with nirvana. I personally do not strive to be hipster but I do believe that music is all just a matter of taste and opinion but God the hipster type always put down hip hop as being meaningless just because they have only heard mainstream hip hop. Well, hipsters I challenge u to listen to this album and not respect the pure genius that is Nasir jones

This album was not only astounding on every level, providing it's audience with every single one of it's exceptional tracks, but it also revolutionized a genre, a remarkable feat that I can't speak for every album of this list, but I must say it's rather hard to believe that many others have done so as well.

Best Rapper of all the Time! And One of the Best Rap producers make a Album! = ILLMATIC = Best Rap Album Ever!
I've Never listened to Album with so much Quality, I would change nothing On it. It's THE perfect Album of all the Time.

Best rap album ever

88 Funeral - Arcade Fire

Only got this like two months ago. One of the best buys I've ever ever gotten before. Its pure brilliance. - mangomorse

An album like this being so low shows me how much good music there must be

89 Is This It - The Strokes

By far the best album made in the 21st century. (The international version, that is).

I really can't describe what's so good about the album, it's just that it is awesome from the first to the last song. Short and intense!

Needs to be way higher... Such an amazing album with a brilliant, unique sound

90 The Doors - The Doors

Alright. I am very confused as to why the doors are way down at number 39. Honestly people, do you really prefer shania twain and Linkin Park? This is ridiculous. The Doors album, The Doors is probably the single best debut albums for a band ever. Every song has it's own little twist and every song is absolutely in every way a piece of art.

"If the doors of perception were cleansed everything would appear to man as it is, infinite. " How Jim coined their name. This band is indefinitely one of the most important bands earth has ever experienced, and honestly should not be this low on the list.

36 as a position for this sheer masterpiece is justification that humans have totally lost touch in music. But then again, you have to be at Jim's level to understand.

One if the greatest bands of all time with the greatest keyboardist in rock, the most underrated drummer in rock, and the most inventive jazz guitarist in rock. Honestly they only have one kinda bad album in their discography and it isn't even that bad. It's criminal that this band is this low.

The fact that people think there are 98 albums better than this one is alarming. "Light My Fire", "Break on Through", "The Crystal Ship", "The End", and "Soul Kitchen". The album is one of the greatest.

93 Tonight: Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand
94 Vincebus Eruptum - Blue Cheer

Prepare to be merged!
This list already exists.

No it does not. I look on the website before. What list is the same as this one? - BlueFuse

Here is why this album and Outsideinside is the best. I know I said something like this before on best Rock albums and on pages why Blue Cheer is the best. I really do not have a whole lot to say and still keep posting about Blue Cheer just in case people do not see those pages. I post a comment right here and let them know how Blue Cheer and the albums of Blue Cheer are great. Blue Cheer Rocks the most that is not Metal. Blue Cheer is Rock. Rock is the best. Blue Cheer has the feel of Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, Cream, and The Who. Blue Cheer plays the classic Rock way that really rocks it out. These 2 Blue Cheer albums rocks the most of Blue cheer. It is not that Blue Cheer is Rock and not the other Rock types of music that makes them the best. Blue Cheer is just the best. I was just giving reasons why there the best albums. - BlueFuse

95 (What's the Story) Morning Glory? - Oasis

By far the greatest album ever released. The amount of classics on here is unbelievable. Wonderwall, Champagne Supernova, Don't Look Back In Anger, Some Might Say, Roll With It, the list goes on!

175? What the hell? Not a single weak track, wonderwall, don't look back in anger, champagne supernova, morning glory, she's electric, the master plan (b side) what stunning songs!

Some amazing songs in this album!

All killer, no filler

96 S&M - Metallica

Metallica are an inspiration to all musical aspects, S&M blows your mind as it sets the scene for those who enjoy Metallica, and for those orchestral fans, utterly amazing album with two amazing extra track... -human and No Leaf Clover

Let's think here for a second... What's the second highest selling album of all time behind Thriller? Back in black. I want to know where that is on here.

Yeah! Its number 1 to me. This is why Metallica is such a great band... There studio albums and live recordings are equally good.
One, Sad but true, master of puppets, enter sandman and of course nothing else matters are few great songs in this album.

I thought Enter Sandman was already good until I hear the version on this album.

97 Led Zeppelin I - Led Zeppelin

Of all if the great Led Zeppelin albums, this is the best. Just so many classic songs! Good Times Bad Times, Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You, Communication Breakdown, Dazed and Confused, pretty much every track on this album is great. Also, this is the best debut album ever.

Led Zeppelin's first through sixth album are the most consistantly brilliant string of rock albums ever made, surpassing the Beatles and Stones easily. Any one of them could top this list. - bobby

This album is it. This is the greatest Rock and Blues album ever.

Just amazing all around

98 Purple Rain - Prince

Prince has to be the most talented guy ever. If Sign O' The Times was on this list I would've voted for that one but Purple Rain is still an excellent album. I love every single song, but my favorite off this album is The Beautiful Ones, the way he screams in that song always gives me chills and makes me wish I could have the voice to sing with the passion and raw sexual energy that he had! He's my favorite artist ever.

Let's Go Crazy, The Beautiful Ones, Darlin Nikki, I Would Die 4 U, Baby I'm A Star, WHEN DOVES CRY, and PURPLE RAIN

The peak of the 80's had it all: rock. pop, funk, ballads, & originality... also it's the reason we have Parental Advisory warnings - dignan

underrated

99 Never Mind the Bollocks Here's the Sex Pistols - Sex Pistols

The greatest punk album of all time. This is THE album of the people. Even though it's rough around the edges, without it, music as we know it wouldnt exist

Uncompromising in every way. It felt like a declaration of war when it came out.

Raw punk at its finest. London calling and dookie are also good.

It is an album, but they started something very important.
