Best Albums of All Time

The Contenders: Page 5

81 Closer - Joy Division

The greatest album ever made. From the metallic guitar, intense beating of the toms and Curtis's haunting vocals on Atrocity Exhibition, to the simple but memorable beats on Isolation and A Means to an End, to the suicide note of a song like Twenty One Hours, all leading up to Decades, one of the best songs on the album, and an intense listen. There is only one flaw with this album, and that is that In A Lonely Place wasn't a hidden track.

Awesome album, a masterpiece.

This album is breath taking

perfect.

82 Purple Rain - Prince

Prince has to be the most talented guy ever. If Sign O' The Times was on this list I would've voted for that one but Purple Rain is still an excellent album. I love every single song, but my favorite off this album is The Beautiful Ones, the way he screams in that song always gives me chills and makes me wish I could have the voice to sing with the passion and raw sexual energy that he had! He's my favorite artist ever.

Let's Go Crazy, The Beautiful Ones, Darlin Nikki, I Would Die 4 U, Baby I'm A Star, WHEN DOVES CRY, and PURPLE RAIN

The peak of the 80's had it all: rock. pop, funk, ballads, & originality... also it's the reason we have Parental Advisory warnings - dignan

Easily the best of the 80s, has to be the best of all time considering the great decade that was

So I scrolled all this time and there it is

85 The Doors - The Doors

Alright. I am very confused as to why the doors are way down at number 39. Honestly people, do you really prefer shania twain and Linkin Park? This is ridiculous. The Doors album, The Doors is probably the single best debut albums for a band ever. Every song has it's own little twist and every song is absolutely in every way a piece of art.

"If the doors of perception were cleansed everything would appear to man as it is, infinite. " How Jim coined their name. This band is indefinitely one of the most important bands earth has ever experienced, and honestly should not be this low on the list.

One if the greatest bands of all time with the greatest keyboardist in rock, the most underrated drummer in rock, and the most inventive jazz guitarist in rock. Honestly they only have one kinda bad album in their discography and it isn't even that bad. It's criminal that this band is this low.

36 as a position for this sheer masterpiece is justification that humans have totally lost touch in music. But then again, you have to be at Jim's level to understand.

Haha just about to say the same thing as the guy below me you guys prefer Linkin park, and generic rap albums over The Doors? - Metalfan2112

86 Tonight: Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand
87 A Rush of Blood to the Head - Coldplay

Should be in the top ten! Every single song on this album is incredible and beautifully written. Clocks, politik, god put a smile upon your face, are all amazing but then again so is everything else on the album. It really shows Coldplay's true talent and versatility with each song. Incredible album

A lot of the albums above this, they just have two or three standout songs. This should be in the top ten because every track is a classic and is worth listening to.

Coldplay's most distinctive album, not just because of the made for radio hits (Clocks and The Scientist) but more importantly the more artistic statements made through the title track and Amsterdam. The best top to bottom album the group made.

Best Coldplay's album.

88 21 - Adele

There has only ever been few albums that have made even the slightest impression on me, and even fewer that I liked every single song in the album. And, in my honest opinion, Adele's 21 surpasses all.

First, her voice. I don't know what people have against her, or what they think of her, but her voice is incredible. She brings good music back into the modern century- much better than this rapping stuff, anyways. Her voice is like the soul of you, vibrating every moment, and rushes through your body like a tsunami.

Her beat is perfect (Note: Just listen to Rumor Has It) and is almost as vibrating as her awesome voice. Her lyrics actually make you feel as if she felt that pain (she did) unlike those emotionless liars in music biz these days.

Her lyrics are catchy, hit you at the right note, and match up. What's important about "matching up"? Glad you asked. You actually have to rhyme and make the song match the title and emotion you're displaying- I know, shocker! ...more

The lyrics on this album...oh my god, they are so well written. Look at the lyrics, production, and instrumentation of both "Set Fire to the Rain" and "Rolling in the Deep". "Someone Like You" is also a nice and pretty ballad, and "Rumour Has It" is catchy and badass. Adele is awesome. - DCfnaf

I like her music her lyrics makes a lot of sense if you just listen to the words.

89 Never Mind the Bollocks Here's the Sex Pistols - Sex Pistols

The greatest punk album of all time. This is THE album of the people. Even though it's rough around the edges, without it, music as we know it wouldnt exist

Uncompromising in every way. It felt like a declaration of war when it came out.

Raw punk at its finest. London calling and dookie are also good.

It is an album, but they started something very important.

92 Metropolis, Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory - Dream Theater

Seriously. This album. Go and listen right now. Honestly. Please.

Dream Theater fans need to vote, this is by far the greatest album of all time.

Nicholas doesn't like this list.

Best album ever. - ActOfGenesis

93 Bat Out of Hell - Meatloaf

An iconic album which should be in the top 10 albums of all time. Every song tells a story, powerful emotive lyrics, classic ballads like Heaven Can Wait contrast with up tempo tracks like Dead Ringer for Love, and some tracks combine the two with a level of light and shade that modern artists today cannot emulate. Truly superb.

'Dead Ringer for Love' is not on this album, it's on, as the title almost gives a slight hint, 'Dead Ringer for Love'.

Still a major album today -paradise by the dashboard light, 2 out of 3 ain't bad are songs you can never really tire of - duncangreen

One of the best selling albums ever

94 All Things Must Pass - George Harrison

Amazing. George shares so much of himself. Many top songs. The most Beatle solo album. Probably as these were written during the Beatles. Releasing these masterpieces allowed George to feel lighter and start afresh.

Listen to it. Then decide an apropriate ranking - Billyv

95 Death Magentic - Metallica V 1 Comment
96 The Eminem Show - Eminem

Want to get pumped up? Listen to the most amazing song on the album, 'Till I Collapse.
Want to laugh? Listen to Without Me.
Want to be grossed out? Listen to Drips.

WHAT? This is at 44! It deserves to be in top 5! This is the best album ever made! Hats off to king of rap.very meaningful songs.

This should definitely be more higher. This is 1/7 albums that had been certified Diamond selling over 10 million albums and it can't even make it in the Top 100. And with the Hit #1 Single Without Me make it a success. Songs like Without Me, Sing For The Moment, Cleaning Out My Closet, Till I Collapse, and Superman make it a success

This is the most played album on my phone, no other album is played more than this by me, even his MMLP got less than a quarter of the numbers played. Hail the king of Rap Rock.

97 I Am...Sasha Fierce - Beyonce

Beyonce sasha fierce album is the album that really made her become the celebrity she is today that album and the single ladies put a ring on it music video made her a international superstar today she is a triple threat she set the bar so high no other female artist can't compete with her and I think it will be that way for awhile especially she is a beautiful woman with sexy great Dance moves.

Study show that reading the comments on a Beyonce/Rihanna/Justin Bieber thread can give you brain cancer.

This album is a masterpiece, and it sickens me that it is 224th.

98 Weezer - Weezer

There are some fantastic albums on this list, and I would agree with the top 11 for the most part. Abbey road, the dark side of the moon (especially), thriller, and OK Computer are fantastic albums in their own right. The blue album is also fantastic however, #187 is borderline blasphemy. #1, no. #10? probably not. But dear god, it's better than Selena Gomez. I like to think that an album can be judged by the number of singles it has. while 1 or 2 is pretty good, the 4 off of this album at least put it higher than #100.

A perfect balance between accessible pop hooks and brilliant instrumentation. An absolute classic.

Why is this so low? Weezer is the best

I really don't understand how this album is so low. This album is a classic, and is one of the greatest ever made. Captivating a youthful heart, and a never aging sound, Blue Album will remain one of the single most important albums of the 90s. Not because it tried anything crazy, or jaw-dropping at that. It's just timeless, a classic, a masterpiece of an album. It hits hearts with everyone, and NO ONE can dislike this album, or at least appreciate it. It is fully deserving of it's praise. I think anyone can relate to it as well.

The crunchy guitar sounds, the feedback, the wonderful blends of Acoustic Guitar and percussion, and instantly recognizable guitar riffs. The sheer pain of the legendary song Say It Ain't So, really tears at the strings. My personal favorite In The Garage is an ode to the kid in you, and it's a goofy song waiting for a hug. Buddy Holly, is another goofy track, and an instant and lovable track at that. Undone will forever remain is one of the best ...more - TheClue1107
