Best Alternative Music Sub-Genres

Yeah, alternative rock has sub-genres too. Well, I'm sure about most of the genres. But if something is wrong here, I'd happy to see someone corrects it.
The Top Ten
1 Grunge Grunge (sometimes referred to as the Seattle sound) is a subgenre of alternative rock and a subculture that emerged during the mid-1980s.

Grunge is probably the most famous and best sub-genre of alternative rock.

2 Indie Rock

Personally, I think this is definitely better than Grunge music.

3 Britpop Britpop is a UK based music and culture movement in the mid 1990s which emphasised "Britishness", and produced bright, catchy pop music partly in reaction to the US led grunge music and the UK's own shoegazing music scene.
4 Gothic Rock
5 Neo-Psychedelia
6 Emo Emo is a style of rock music characterized by melodic musicianship and expressive, often confessional lyrics. It originated in the mid-1980s hardcore punk movement of Washington, D.C., where it was known as "emotional hardcore" or "emocore" and pioneered by bands such as Rites of Spring and Embrace.
7 Post Grunge
8 Alternative Metal Alternative metal is a music genre that infuses heavy metal with influences from alternative rock and other genres normally associated with metal.

Alternative metal is a misleading and meaningless term:

1) Most of the bands aren't metal (with several exceptions) - songs have little or no metal in them. An eclectic mix of punk, funk, rap, grunge, hard rock, e tc. d oesn't mean metal. Playing this mix loud doesn't make it metal.

2) Alt music is supposed to be an alternative to mainstream music in a certain subgenre but metal music isn't mainstream by default. So how popular alternative metal bands with very poppy and mainstream sound, like Alter Bridge, are alternatives to true metal bands that are less mainstream? This doesn't make sense. No wonder most of the alt metal bands aren't on Metallum.

Well, Alternative has big influence from alternative rock. And it has punk, hard rock and heavy metal elements in it. So one way it could be called a sub-genre of Alternative music.
