Top 10 Best Alternative Rock and Metal Bands of the 2000s

The 2000's had a lot of good Alternative Rock & Metal bands. However for this list I`m not including Punk Rock bands, Nu Metal bands, and Glam Rock bands. So basically no Green Day, Linkin Park, Paramore etc. I`m still including Evanescence 'cause Evanescene is not Nu Metal. Enjoy I guess.

Say what you will about this band but songs like "Animal I Have Become", "Pain", "Never Too Late", "Just Like You", "Home", "Break", "The Good Life", "Riot", "I Hate Everything About You" etc. still hold up and this band got me into Alternative Rock in my opinion this band has more meaning then Linkin Park and Breaking Benjamin combined.

Green Day has loads of wonderful songs that are on the brighter side of Alternative Rock and in the norm region of Punk music. Songs like Brain Stew, Basket Case, Welcome To Paradise and St. Jimmy reflect the boring child and teen life of band members Billy Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool

I have been telling this for a long time.Punk rock is a rock that has heavily distorted fast -paced rapid guitar riffs, offensive lyrics, fast singing. Some of the songs of green day aren't even close to that.Like 21 guns, boulevard of broken dreams, time of your life,whatsername,21st century breakdown, wake me up when september ends etc. These are alternative songs. The whole 21st century breakdown is an ALTERNATIVE album. So,they are also an alternative band.Like Pink Floyd is both psychedelic and progressive rock.So I added them.

"Billie never ages" "Age? , I definitely age all the time, every single day"- Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day.

@Powerfultekin : "Punk is a sub-genre of alternative" punk rock was originated before alternative. punk is not a sub-genre of alternative.alternative rock is a new form of punk rock which was originated in 80s.I mean derivative form.however alternative musicians were influenced by punk musicians

8 Gorillaz Gorillaz are an English virtual band created in 1998 by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett. The band consists of four animated members: 2D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle and Russel Hobbs.

Definitely one of the best alternative rock groups of the noughties, and in my opinion one of the best acts of that decade. Their ability to combine a mainstream sound with brilliant music as well as intelligent and well-written lyrics is extremely impressive and helps to contribute to a whole library of fantastic music. Meanwhile, their virtual band concept is also quite unique and the members created are very enjoyable characters to enjoy watching as well as being a great satire on manufactured pop bands. A fantastic band overall and one of my favourites. I just can't wait for them to release their next album.

Gorillaz are actually from the 90s, not the 00s. However it wasn't until the early 00s that they became massive. So I guess this would count.

I love feel good inc

It's amazing that Dave Grohl is able to play drums for Nirvana and continue his musical career by starting a band as a lead singer and guitarist. And letting his drumming career didn't make Foo Fighters' drummer Taylor Hawkins look bad at all.

For number one it was a hard choice between been this band and Theory of a Deadman but this band just felt more worthy of 1st place considering the good songs, how underrated they are and more. And yes it is possible to make a list of the 2000's without Foo Fighters or Linkin Park as number one all the damn time.

Staind is the most underrated band. They have virtually no bad songs and in my opinion the greatest vocal talent of all time in Aaron Lewis

"For you " is really amazing - in fact many of their songs are so good
