Top 10 Animals That Can Make You Deaf

The Loudest Animals that can make Noises that are so loud that you can go Deaf.

The Top Ten

1 Tiger Pistol Shrimp

The tiger pistol shrimp has been confirmed the loudest animal on earth. By snapping its claw into a gun-cocked position, it can snap them shut almost instantaneously. As the claws are going to hit each other, they create bubbles that collapse, and when they do, they (for a very short period of time)reach the temperature of the sun. The bubbles move at 60 miles per hour and releases sounds of up to 218 decibels. That can be heard a lot more than 500 miles away, and it beats the former loudest animal by 30 decibels, the blue whale, which can emit sounds as high as 188 decibels. This means the blue whale is louder than grenade explosion and jet takeoff/engine, but the tiger pistol shrimp can make sounds louder than volcano eruption and gunshots. It uses this as a weapon by stunning enemies because of immense sound. This animal should be #1 on this list because it is.

I'm glad this is #1 on this list, it is truly an amazing creature.

The tiger pistol shrimp can produce a sound that can go up to 200+ decibels, louder than any gunshot, this has surpassed the human hearing range by a mile which is about 100-120 decibels. By snapping it together it Shoots out a jet of water that travels at a speed of 100km/hr. The air bubble that is produced can reach a temperature of 4,700 degrees Celsius, this is a temperature that is nearly as hot as the surface of the sun(5,500 degrees Celsius). It also produces a small spark that lasts no longer than 10 nanoseconds and as short as 300 picoseconds (a trillionth of a second) a unit of measurement that even researches' tools cannot measure, and is not visible from the naked eye. This whole process can only last for 300 microseconds.

The Tiger Pistol Shrimp uses this as a way to catch its prey, the shock current is enough to stun a crab, and even kill small fish. It has the power to shatter a small glass ...more

Imagine standing in New York City. Now snap your finger. If that snap causes a glass bottle in Virginia to shatter, you are louder than a pistol shrimp! When a pistol shrimp snaps its claw underwater, a bubble will shoot out because the high-pitched vibration caused by the claw creates a sound waves that travels so quickly it can shatter the electric force that binds water molecules together and almost instantly turn the water molecules into gas molecules. This is how they stun their prey. Can any other animal do that? I don't think so!

I wonder how they measure the heat of the bubbles..I mean temperature of 'sun' can melt anything

4 Howler Monkey

I agree because once I was at the zoo and I was near the monkeys and heard a really loud screaming noise and saw it was coming from monkeys. I looked at a sign and they were called howler monkeys.

Howler monkeys are native to Central and South America. While vacationing in Costa Rica, one day a howler monkey woke up the whole family from 5 miles away, still loud and clear.

Very loud, I've heard them at the zoo in Frankfurt Germany when I was 5. I couldn't stand to get too close because they were so loud.

Don’t underestimate the cute howler monkey. Lots of people end up deaf because of these screaming primates.
