Your "preposterous" statistic is completely useless and misleading. Polar Bears were hunted to near extinction in the early 1900s, recovered, and are dying off again at an alarming rate. Polar bear population numbers over the past 30 years is a much more telling statistic.

They are the only ones that can't be easily kept at Zoos, and with arctic ice caps melting, it's danger from all sides for them.
