Best Animated Movies of 2017
The Top Ten
Probably one of the best movies I've seen in recent times. Mexican culture is super interesting and the whole point of this movie is incredibly interesting as well. Set during the day of the dead and has a lot of themes centered around that. Deep story and the characters all had some sort of personality and development.
Main protagonist is Miguel Rivera, a guy who dreams of becoming a musician but his family forbids music strongly. On the day of the dead he ends up in the day of the dead when testing playing on the guitar of Ernesto de la Cruz, his deceased biggest idol, where he must find him. The story and animation is just stunning. This is probably Pixar's most colourful movie to date. Everything just looks so beautiful in this movie.
Spoiler alert here, even though I'm not a fan of the twist villain cliché, I think Ernesto de la Cruz was a very well-executed villain and one of the best in that category. He's truly evil and has scary and psychopathic motivations and ...more
Coco is a very great movie and to be honest, it's really hard to pick compared to other animated cartoon movies but this is just... amazing. It's very emotional and it really taught my parents (well, my mom ateast since we were the only ones who watched it from our family) such great value of family. My mom sometimes don't get any of my favorite cartoon movies and shows 'cause she's Indonesian and yeah I'm too But, this one really... taught her something. And it taught me somethin, too. When I was walking out from the cinema, I saw this kid hugging her mom because of the lesson of the movie. I'm glad that this is in the top list of best movies, because... the directors did a great job on this. Instead of having a very emotional, hearthwarming movie, it also brought me entertainment. Miguel is sort of like me... I used to have (well, not really 'used' ) a huge passion of writing, doodling and just all those creative stuff. My mom would hide my phone away from stopping me to post ...more
Embracing the dead and caring once about family than our goals. This movie points out important lessons that we've missed out so many times in life.
Coco was such a nice movie and gave a really good story, its amazing what lovely message it gives to audiences alike.
Thought it was hilarious and underrated. True fans of DC universe and Batman will get every reference. My little brother loved it and saw it twice while it was in theaters. I Was never a big fan of Lego movies until this and Ninjago came out, can't wait to watch another new lego movie in 2018! Hope it wins instead of Coco, which I don't have much hope for since Finding Dory was kinda a flop and Cars 3 was okay.
This one made me laugh and had some hilarious jokes and it was great even in its seroious moments. Oh I'd like to say after this I would pick Cars3, a million times better than the disappointment that was Cars2. Disney and Pixar brought their A game this time.
I find it very overrated, it was colorful and okay I guess, but I guess I'm not really a fan of lego movies because they're all flat american cash-grabs with no actual unique storyline.
This movie is one of my favorites... I think it's very funny, cute, and good for kids. In my opinion this is one of the best movies for a family movie night.
Sooo good! This franchise isn't meant to be appreciated by cold adult critics, its for the kids. The franchise sure does succeed in that domain with Despicable Me 3 being the third biggest hit of the year (behind Beauty and the Beast and Furious 8 in the Worldwide Box Office, so far) It is funny and lightweight and always brings a smile to my face. Continue On Illumination with Minions 2!
Illumination Entertainment should start focusing on making more original movies, but I guess since I like Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2, Despicable Me 3 might be a good watch as well.
Since they're coming out with this and Minions 2, I'm afraid that the Despicable Me franchise is becoming the Ice Age of Illumination.
My brother thought it sucked, I thought it felt like a forgettable sitcom episode (so many damn subplots). Not a horrible movie though
I really enjoyed this film, it's not as good as the first Cars movie but it's miles better than Cars 2 (I don't consider Cars 2 to be a bad film at all it's just that it's the weakest out of the 3 movies) and even with it's flaws, Cars 3 is still a very enjoyable family film the kids will enjoy it the most. Animation is breathtaking by the way. Especially the mud in the Demolition Derby, looked so real!
Many were left disappointed by Cars 2, and based on what I've seen from trailers, I think this could redeem the Cars franchise and be the best in the trilogy yet.
Maybe not best of the trilogy, but certainly awesomne honestly! The animation is just mind-blowing
This film was fantastic. A return to form for the cars franchise
The first time I watched this was on a plane and I watched it 5 times! I think I became obsessed with this movie cause I didn’t stop . So now on a plane I always look for this movie- PrincessAWSOME
Despite its flaws, (Clichés, inconsistencies, and unmemorable songs. Sia's song "Rainbow" was pretty good though.) this is a pretty decent movie! Not excellent, but far from bad.
This should actually be higher this movie was very good
It gave mlp some of its latest characters it also gave mlp my favorite song I can sia rainbow
At first I thought this was going to suck, ruining my favorite book, but a movie involving underpants got good reception!
As a guy who grew up with this ridiculous book series, this is just disappointing.
Biggest surprise on the list it's really good and very funny
This was really fun. Not amazing but not bad either.
I watched this movie in the theaters. I was preparing to hate it, but now I found it a pretty good movie, but it wasn’t as good as the cartoon.
Thought it was underrated. Should had been higher then the My Little Pony Movie. Thought it was better than Despicable Me 3. Choke on that.
It was alright. Nothing awesome or anything but it's a fun little movie if you don't take it that seriously. I liked the cartoony animation and while the jokes are slapstick boring and the movie is extremly cliché it's alright.
This movie is easily the best Sony Animation movie since 2012's Hotel Transylvania 1
The book was my childhood and the author came from the small town of Garrett Park, Maryland, where I am from. And John Cena is in it, so I am starting to have some mixed feelings.
I watched it and I thought I was their. The best film this year. I want more and now
I used to love this film since I was 7 but I still like it right now
It's alright, at least it has a decent story and some colourful animation
I must say, It was better than I thought it would be, it was almost a masterpiece, sure it has some fart jokes but if you just ignore it, you'll find the story amazing.
Sorry but I think this movie is FARR from a masterpiece in my opinion. In fact I didn't think it was good at all
I liked it I don't know why people don't... Maybe reading too much into the movies "message" just enjoy it for the funny lighthearted movie it is
A couple of the jokes got me a chuckle, but I mostly thought the character designs were kind of creepy and the story was stupid. It wasn't horrible but I didn't like it much
This movie was pretty creepy, I know dreamworks can make waaay better
This was mediocre at best
Dang, from what I've seen so far, the movie has been pretty successful and has received quite a lot of positive reviews! I may not be able to have time to watch it in theaters again, but when it comes out on DVD, I'm definitely renting it!
Coco is a masterpiece and this rocks
I love this anime
it's so emotional and heart touching story
How is this under the Lego Ninjago Movie HOW?
Well, to be honest, it IS better than Norm of the North
Norm of The West is more like it.
What is this, Norm of the West?
This looks like Sing ripoff
A awesome Batman animated film starring Adam West and William Shatner.
Pfft, tell that to all the YouTube critics who tore this pointless crossover apart.
This was a good movie. It may not be as well put-together or as funny as the two Lego movies before it, but the humor was certainly cute. It was a little more serious, but that’s true to Ninjago’s style. I honestly loved how both Lloyd and Garmadon were portrayed. And most importantly, the core message was very sweet.
Can you just go away VGF5? You were actually improving as a user until you started bashing this. It was a good film.
This movie sucked like the other lego movie.
Overhated, best of the lego movies honestly
Unpopular opinion but this movie ain't all that bad. It definitely was a lot better than I expected it to be. The idea of this movie is generally original and it has some nice references here and there. There is the stuff I do hate like how it tries to be hip and cool for kids a lot and the jokes were generally pretty terrible, this movie has some fun moments and a decent storyline. It's not a great movie but if you just watch the movie for fun it's alright honestly.
The hell? Why is this even on the list? It hasn't even released yet and people aren't really looking forward to it. Unless Sony Pictures Animation can defy expectations, this is probably going to turn out to be one of the worst movies of 2017.
Why is this even here? For a joke? I watched it for a laugh and it was kinda worse then I thought.
The only good part in this movie was the ending, the rest of it SUCKS!
Sadly, has been moved back.
I think it might have been delayed to 2018
That movie isn’t even out yet
After seeing this, this was probably was my favourite animated movie of 2017.
The world's first fully painted feature film.
Really? Below The Boss Baby and Emoji Movie?
Has yet to have an international release, but I'll have my eyes on the lookout for this one online.
This really is one of a heck good movie. It is really worth my time watching this tear jerking movie. Better ready your tissues if you are going to watch this movie.
I think that this is just as good (if not better) than Coco
Love this movie, don't care what anyone else says (unless they say the movie is good)
This movie sucked.
This movie has a positive message and shows that you should always follow your dreams!
It looks 10x better than the Nut Job
This film is a 2017 animated movie, so I added it on to the list.
Wow, wasn't expecting this to be on the list. but I love it so I'm voting it.
