1 Puella Magi Madoka Magica Puella Magi Madoka Magica is a 2011 Japanese anime television series produced by Shaft and Aniplex, directed by Akiyuki Shinbo, written by Gen Urobuchi, music by Yuki Kajiura, opening sang by ClariS, ending by Kalafina (sometimes by the seiyuus) and original characters by Ume Aoki. It also has 3 movies, more.

At first glance, I dismissed this series as not worth watching since it looks like a typical magical girl anime show, a genre that I have never been into. But then I saw how much MLPFan liked it, how TwilightKitsune watched it and praised it, and I saw how many people said that it was actually a dark show, so I decided to give it a try and it was definitely worth it. Puella Magi Madoka Magica is a truly brilliant psychological anime with a deep and gripping story, with amazing characters and really good animation. - Goku02

Similar to Puella Magi Madoka Magica, I thought that this show looked really boring, but from what I've heard till now it seems to be a dark psychological anime despite its cutesy appearance, much like the former. Definitely gonna give it a try some time. - Goku02

It's dark, but not in a psychological way like Madoka Magica. It's dark because of how the overall concept is portrayed and how the characters are affected by it. They are trying to change their fates that were given to them from a fairy tale which leads to unfortunate events. I would explain further, such as what the character's destined fates are, but that would get into spoiler territory. - Rue

People literally don't want to watch this anime because of it's name and how girly it is. It's actually an anime that's really dark when it comes to the story. Don't let the cutesy ballet concept fool you. - Rue

The person who came up with the name ruined everything.

In a top ten list in my country, the character named Rem coming from this anime has beaten a character that has quicky risen to one of the top spots in my favourites list, Osamu Dazai from Bungou Stray Dogs. Ironically it seems like thetoptens community generally hates this Rem. - Goku02
