Top 10 Anime Series That Get Too Much Hate

As an anime fan, I will admit some of my favorite anime series are overrated and could be better, but those anime series also tend to get a lot of hate. So now I made a list of anime series that get too much hate. Please respect my opinions.
The Top Ten
1 Sword Art Online Sword Art Online is a series of Japanese light novels written by Reki Kawahara and illustrated by abec. In 2012, it received an anime adaptation produced by A-1 Pictures and the SAO Project, and is directed by Tomohiko Ito . The first season is divided into two arcs known as "Aincrad" and "Fairy Dance". It has also received a second season, titled Sword Art Online II.

I'll admit, the anime series may be overrated and could do better with the flaws it has, but the hate for this anime is getting so annoying! It may not be the best anime ever, but it's my personal favorite along with Gurren Lagann. It's all about haters trying to say stuff like, Gary Stu that, incest that, Alfheim sucks that! It's so aggravating! Hate, hate, hate! Waste of time! The hate was the main reason I watched Sword Art Online in the first place. In my opinion, I loved that anime and it wasn't that bad. Sword Art Online haters can come and kiss my a$$ any day.

*Sighs* It seems like every day on MyAnimeList.Net, Sword Art Online's score keeps going down. It used to be somewhere in the range of the 8's, but now it's only on the high 7's. I swear, it's just pure bandwagon when it comes to the hate for this anime. I wish people would stop hating on it and look more on the positive aspects of the anime. Instead of just having high expectations for it, maybe they would like it more if they just watched it for the enjoyment of it. That's what I think most people who hate Sword Art Online fail to realize.

Sao is a good anime but there are some problems in the arcs.

Aincrad - The concept is great but it skips time and before you know it Kirito and Asuna reunited again.

Fairy Dance - Could have been good but Sugu fell in love with Kirito? Ughh.

Gun Gale - I don't like the fact that Kirito looks like a girl. It is also a bit confusing.

Calibur - Boring. I think that this arc has nothing to do with the anime's progress.

Mother's Rosario - Same like Calibur, it has nothing to do with the anime's progress but the plot is good.

I can't believe I see SAO haters everywhere I'm listening to Ludwig The Holy Blade and someone thought of the idea of dodging moonlight waves with the music playing is an anime idea and we have idiots complaining everyday about SAO. I'm listening to a bloodborne track and we have idiots complaining about SAO in a Bloodborne related video what doucebag these guys are

2 Naruto Naruto is an anime and manga franchise Naruto, created by Masashi Kishimoto. The manga was later adapted into a television anime, which was produced by Studio Pierrot and Aniplex. It premiered across Japan on the terrestrial TV Tokyo and other TX Network stations on October 3, 2002. The first series lasted 220 episodes, while Naruto: Shippuden, a sequel to the original series, has been airing since February 15, 2007. In addition to the anime series, Studio Pierrot has developed eleven movies and several original video animations. Other types of merchandise include light novels, video games, and trading cards developed by several companies.

While I'm not into Naruto, I think Naruto gets a lot of hate. Before Sword Art Online came along, Naruto was that anime that was infamous for attracting a lot of hate. And I do agree with the fans that while there may be too much fillers, Naruto isn't that bad an anime series. So I think instead of bashing on Naruto for little things like too much flashbacks, you should actually watch it if you're just hating even though you haven't watched it yet or watch another anime instead of being an annoying hater.

Could it be the hate that comes from the fillers?

3 Kill la Kill Kill la Kill is an anime television series produced by Trigger. In Kill la Kill, Ryuko Matoi transfers to a new high school in order to find her father's murderer.

Kill la Kill is more than just fanservice! Sure, the outfits might be too skimpy and the anime can be a bit crazy at times, but I loved Kill la Kill! All fanservice aside, this anime is actually pretty good for what it is! Awesome fighting scenes, a surprisingly interesting plot and story, great characters, and an epic music soundtrack! Although I wouldn't recommend it for anime beginners, for those who have seen enough anime, I would totally recommend this anime! Haters can come at me for all I know!

This anime is actually pretty good. Yes the outfits are pretty skimpy and the cuss words are pretty high but through all that the story plot is amazing. The fight scenes are also amazing. Not to mention some of the characters are very rememberable. Even though its not the best anime its not the worst either.

It doesn't deserve to be an anime it was really awful and horrible

Only pathetic perverts and ugly lesbian would like that crap

4 Fairy Tail Fairy Tail is a manga franchise created by Hiro Mashima. The manga has been adapted into an anime series produced by A-1 Pictures and Satelight, which began broadcasting in Japan on October 12, 2009. Additionally, A-1 Pictures and Satelight have developed seven original video animations and an animated feature film, Fairy Tail the Movie: Phoenix Priestess. The series ended its initial run on March 30, 2013. A new series premiered on TV Tokyo on April 5, 2014.

I think they are so ignorant when it comes to its content and can't accept that it's a fantasy with fantasy themes when it comes to violent when not graphic if you're obsessed with stuff like Anime (and no it does not have to Anime) that have blood and gore like Tokyo Ghoul, Elfen lied and Attack On Titan you have a problem and is not mature enough for good story plots characters with personalities and of course qualities and if that's not truthful enough I don't know what is

The only reason why people hate Fairy Tail because it has no blood or swearing

I think the only thing that people hate Fairy Tail for is it's plot armor.

There is swearing in it, but barely any blood.

5 Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny is an anime television series, a direct sequel to Mobile Suit Gundam SEED by Sunrise and the overall tenth installment in the Gundam franchise. It retains most of the staff from Gundam SEED, including Director Mitsuo Fukuda.
6 K-On! K-ON! (けいおん!, literally 'Light Music') is a Japanese slice of life and comedy four-panel comic strip manga written and illustrated by Kakifly. It was serialized from 2007 to 2012, and there are six volumes to the manga in total. Kyoto Animation produced the anime adaptation, which aired over 2009 and 2010, over two seasons of 12 and 24 episodes respectively, with many extras, bonus shorts, and even a feature length film, which premiered in 2011.

It being a moe anime doesn't always mean it's bad!

7 Neon Genesis Evangelion Neon Genesis Evangelion, commonly referred to as Evangelion or Eva, is a Japanese animated television series produced by Gainax and Tatsunoko Production, and directed by Hideaki Anno.

While I still prefer Gurren Lagann and haven't seen Evangelion yet, now that I have matured a bit, I think Evangelion is an anime series that shouldn't be taken lightly. Sure, the main lead might be a bit of a wimp, so what? Like fans say, the main lead is probably the most realistic anime character to date and I would totally want to watch this anime. Not to mention it's story is both intriguing and psychologically-thrilling as well.

Oh, the hate is annoying. We get it! You hate Shinji! So what? Next you'll be telling me Future Diary is awful because of Yukiteru. One character is not enough to make an anime bad. And if you hate it because it's popular, then you are being ridiculous. If you don't like it, keep it to yourself. Quit whining and ignore it instead of being a hater.

8 Attack on Titan Attack on Titan, also known as Shingeki no Kyojin in Japanese, created by Hajime Isayama, is one of the most popular Japanese anime series to be released. It was first watched in Japan during 2013 and was dubbed in English to be watched in America in 2014. It is best known for its emotional moments, apocalyptic setting, and its dramatic story line, and action packed scenes.

One of those anime series that get a lot of hate even though people haven't seen it yet. Sure, Attack on Titan might have some rabid fans and is far from flawless in terms of too much dialogue and slow pacing, but other than that, Attack on Titan is a really good anime series. The first season ended with a bang and I can't wait for Season 2.

Sure, the story had slow pacing and all, but it was actually a great series and I can't wait for Season 2.

People always hate on this anime for it being popular. So what? It's great!

People hate this anime because it's cliched, but that's all they think about. AOT is excellent

9 Fruits Basket After the accident in which she lost her mother, 16-year-old Tooru moves in with her grandfather, but due to his home being renovated, is unable to continue living with him. Claiming she will find someone to stay with but also fearing the criticism of her family and not wanting to burden any of her friends, Tooru resorts to secretly living on her own in a tent in the woods.

Yuki Souma, the "prince" of her school, and his cousin Shigure Souma, a famous author, stumble across Tooru's situation and invite her to stay with them until her grandfather’s home renovations are complete. ...read more.

In my opinion this anime is wonderful. Yes some of the characters can get annoying but that doesn't stop the story in the anime. Its funny heartwarming and there's plenty of romance. I know there's a lot of hate to it but if you hate certain anime's and such don't dwell on it, get over it and don't bother others with your hate.

How could anyone hate this?
The story is perfect, the characters are memorable, and I see it as a masterpiece.

10 Tokyo Ghoul Tokyo Ghoul is a Japanese dark fantasy manga series written and illustrated by Sui Ishida. It was serialized in Shueisha's seinen manga magazine Weekly Young Jump between September 2011 and September 2014, and it has been collected in fourteen tankōbon volumes as of August 2014.

Okay, while I still think Parasyte is better than Tokyo Ghoul and I haven't seen Tokyo Ghoul yet, I still think this deserves to be on the list. To me, I still think Tokyo Ghoul is quite beautiful in ways that I can't describe now and I would love to see it. Sure, there might be too much censorship and some inconsistencies with animation and original manga source content, but in all honesty, Tokyo Ghoul seems to be a legitimate anime series that I might enjoy.

People hate this just because it's not based on a manga, but so what if it isn't. The original fullmetal alchemist wasn't based on the manga but it was still amazing. I think the anime of Tokyo ghoul is even better than the manga (I've read all the mangas, by the way) and is one of my favourite anime of all time.

I think this is honestly the best anime of all time and I don't get why do many people hate it

The Contenders
11 Dragon Ball GT Dragon Ball GT is a Japanese anime series based on Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball manga. Produced by Toei Animation, the series premiered in Japan on Fuji TV on February 7, 1996, spanning 64 episodes until its end on November 19, 1997.

Gets worse hate than SAO. TRUST ME

12 Lucky Star Lucky star is an anime that first aired (april 8th, 2007 to September 16th, 2007) in Japan. The anime follows the daily lives of Konata Izumi, Kagami and Tsukasa hiiragi, and Miyuki Takura. The show is best known for the cute "moe" characters. The target audience is shouen.

True. Yukiteru may be the biggest anime wimp of all time, but Future Diary still told a unique story.

It does deverse to be on this list the ending was really bad and disaponting yuki didn't deserve to live..the anime turned to be really stupid

14 Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Mobile Suit Gundam SEED is a Japanese mecha anime television series that premiered in 2002. 16 Dragon Ball Z Dragon Ball Z is a Japanese anime television series produced by Toei Animation. Dragon Ball Z follows the adventures of Goku who, along with the Z Warriors, defends the Earth against evil. The action adventures are entertaining and reinforce the concept of good versus evil. Dragon Ball Z teaches valuable character virtues such as teamwork, loyalty, and trustworthiness.

Sigh. Some people just can't put up with the legacy of Dragon Ball Z. While I wouldn't call it the best anime ever, I do recall watching some episodes and clips of it, and I like a few things about them, like the funny moments and nostalgically awesome transformations and fights. Although I'm not a Dragon Ball Z fan, I don't think it's necessary to hate on the fans for something you don't like. And it isn't that bad. You want bad? You're looking at Boku no Pico or School Days, not Dragon Ball Z!

People just hate on this because it's popular. Plus it was made about decades earlier than most of the popular shonen series nowadays. It's the best of its time, and Naruto, One Piece, Bleach and Fairy Tail are all inspired by it. Dragon Ball is the greatest, as it has changed the whole shonen genre.

17 Fullmetal Alchemist Fullmetal Alchemist is an anime series adapted from the manga of the same name by Hiromu Arakawa. It is about two brothers, Edward Elric and Alphonse Elric, trying to restore their bodies after failing at bringing their mother back to life. It aired in 2003 and was remade as Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood in 2009.

Yes. Unfortunately, Fullmetal Alchemist does have haters. Sure, there may be some insane FMA fanboys, but you shouldn't let a fan base ruin an anime for you! Fullmetal Alchemist is considered as one of the best anime of all time! I haven't watched FMA yet, but I plan to sometime in the future! Highly recommended for anime beginners!

Honestly, I don't see a lot of hate in FMA. Even though I enjoyed the 2003 adaptation I was still disappointed by it. but changed my mind after I watched Conqueror of Shambala.

18 One Piece One Piece is a manga franchise created by Eiichiro Oda. The manga has been adapted into an original video animation (OVA) produced by Production I.G in 1998, and an anime series produced by Toei Animation, which began broadcasting in Japan in 1999 and has aired 851 episodes to date.

The one piece anime deserves hate for being so much worse than the manga. You can't take two chapters of a manga and make it into a 23 minute episode. It ruins the pacing

This series gets TOO MUCH LOVE in fact.

19 Pokemon Pokémon, abbreviated from the Japanese title of Pocket Monsters and currently advertised in English as Pokémon: The Series, is a Japanese anime television series, which has been adapted for the international television markets. It was first broadcast in Japan on April 1, 1997, in the United States ...read more.

Here's how it goes, I look up Ash Ketchum, and it's not long until I find an insult on him. And even worse, The Gamer thinks its ruining the Pokemon Franchise! WHAT!? THAT'S BULLPOOP!

I don't really get why the ANIME is hated for? It's flaws?

Remove the main character and it is 10% less hated

In my opinion it deserves it's hate.

20 Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt is a Japanese anime television series produced by Gainax, as well as a series of tie-in media developed around it. The series ran from October to December 2010 on BS Nittele.

I feel like this show gets too much hate...

I love this anime

21 Yuugiou (Yu-Gi-Oh!)
22 Love Live! Sunshine!! Love Live! Sunshine!! is a Japanese multimedia project co-developed by ASCII Media Works' Dengeki G's Magazine, music label Lantis, and animation studio Sunrise.
23 Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Strikers

This is my favorite entry in/season of the Lyrical Nanoha franchise, my favorite magical girl anime of all time, and one of my absolute favorite anime of all time but it has its flaws and I can sort of see why some people (even those who are in the Lyrical Nanoha fandom themselves) don't like it though. A hardcore sci-fi military story with some of the most bad*** magical girls in fictional history and DBZ/Gundam-esque action isn't everybody's cup of tea, the whole political intrigue sub-plot involving Regius Gaiz really dragged down the series at times, and Zest and Lutecia were pretty forgettable villains but I still love MGLN StrikerS nevertheless.

24 Love Live! School Idol Project Love Live! School Idol Project is a Japanese multimedia project co-developed by ASCII Media Works' Dengeki G's Magazine, music label Lantis, and animation studio Sunrise.
25 Bleach Bleach is a Japanese anime series based on Tite Kubo's manga of the same name. Bleach adapts the first 54 volumes of Tite Kubo's manga series of the same name. In addition, 4 anime-original arcs were broadcast in-between and during the adaptations of original arcs of the manga.

Bleach follows the adventures of Ichigo Kurosaki, a high school student with the ability to see ghosts. The early parts of the story focus mainly on the characters. As events unfold, the story begins to delve deeper into the world of these gods of death. ...read more.

This is the scapegoat for anime like Naruto and DBZ. Why the hell does this get hated on so much? Butthurt that Tite Kubo trolled you?
