Attack on TitanUploaded by ModernSpongeBobSucks
Attack on Titan, also known as Shingeki no Kyojin in Japanese, created by Hajime Isayama, is one of the most popular Japanese anime series to be released. It was first watched in Japan during 2013 and was dubbed in English to be watched in America in 2014. It is best known for its emotional moments, ...read more.
This list should have switched the original Full Metal Alchemist which is ranked as 10 with Attack on Titan for 2 reasons. 1 Brotherhod is superior by so much that the original should be knocked down a peg or 2 and Attack on Titan's penetration in the anime work was way too huge not to be noticed. Attack on Titan was the dragonball z of this new generation. Like when it came out, anime watchers along with people who never watched anime or knew what it was, watched this anime. That's huge, not only that but it was watched and liked by a whole new fanbase. The merchandise is worn religiously by fans and promoted heavily in America. All this and we didn't even get to the series. Each character you will find has some sort of exceptional skill except the flawed Eren, who has the ability to turn into a titan. He's supported by some of the best side characters that will give you a dragonball z vibe, in the sense that each character plays a significant role to Eren as well as the series. The ...more
How the hell is this not in the top 5, at least? This anime has the most beautiful artwork I've ever seen, the pacing is just right (take a note, SAO Season 2), the plot and concept are amazing. I'm surprised at the lack of comments addressing the mind-blowing animations. Forty five seconds into the theme song (which is equally great) you can see how much effort the animators have put in. Regarding the plot, I love how it has a sense of reality to it, since the anime starts in the year 845 (the main parts take place five years later, though), where for us humans, technology wouldn't have been developed enough to find a creature that could potentially threaten us so we could eliminate it before it fully evolved and made us extinct.
I don't want to spoil too much of the anime, but it's obvious how dedicated the people who made the anime were to Attack on Titan. There's so much character development that it's impossible to dislike anybody in the show - I know most of the credit ...more
Why is shingeki no kyojin in 83 if it's a TOP 5 anime?!
And why is shingeki no kyojin in 83 and Attack on titans in 84, if they are the same?
This is the best anime I've watched in my whole life. There's lots of suspense and every time I finish an episode, I'm dying to see more.
This has changed my life for the better and for the worst though - ever since I started watching this anime, I have been having gigantic mood swings. One minute I'm fine and then I think of all the deaths of my favourite characters and all my favourite ships that had been broken and BOOM. Suddenly. I'm in a bad mood or I don't want to talk to anyone or I want to curl up in a ball and cry.
But this anime has also inspired me. Take Mikasa, for example. She watched her parents die and was nearly kidnapped. When Eren saved her, he nearly died because a man had grabbed him and was about to stab him and, although Mikasa was scared, she found a strength within her and saved Eren. 5 years later, she's one of the strongest Titan killers ever! That is only ONE reason that she inspires me and then there are lot of other people too, like Levi who ...more
Now, I'm not really THAT into anime. I mean, I tried before watching Attack on Titan. I used to watch around 5 or so episodes of an anime to try and get hooked before completely giving up.
Attack on Titan is a whole different story. After only the first episode, I was already dying for more, admiring the animation quality and humming the theme to myself. And it's only gotten better - from the start, you can have a relatively good assumptions on what's going to happen next before that all gets thrown in the bin. I doubt ANYONE who watched this withoutany spoilers new what was going to happen! There are COMPLETE plot twists, and it justs makes this anime even better.
I've now started watching more anime, but absolutely nothing can compare to Attack on Titan. The graphics are incredible. Despite me not watching many animes before this, I still found it amazing, so I definitely recommend this for people who enjoy high-quality animations.
Some of the themes are a bit ...more
I'm not really, into anime. Never have been, it's just not my thing. But when I saw this I had a complete change of heart. HOLY COW! My mind was blown from the first episode all the way to the end! This show does not simply exceed anime standards, but completely dominates as a show. The characters are relatable (to a degree), the story is mind-blowing, the animation is something you see once in a decade, and the music, you could listen to that alone and get hooked on the show. Bear in mind that this anime is not for the squeamish or faint-of-heart, it is very dark, depressing, bloody, and violent. Seriously, if you are not into anime but want to give it a try, Attack on Titan is the way to go.
Let's face it, this is only at 17 right now because it's new and most people voting here were infected by the contagion that is shows like Naruto and Bleach at a young age. Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan) does not rely on audience nostalgia to be considered good, and additionally, it does the absolute best job of any anime ever at manipulating the audience's emotions and achieving everything it aims to achieve. I would be more than willing to believe that the creator of this series has a magical machine that turns ordinary substances like water and air into pure, unadulterated genius.
Okay people, this one is a MUST READ. The characters are stunning, their development is even better. The plot... There are no words. You just don't know what's gonna happen. I don't know if I should say that the story has many plot twist because even from the first episode, everything turns completely around. When I watched the first episodes, I was expecting the usual, you know everyone wins happy ending and all that. but not with this anime, everything just turns around. you don't know what's gonna happen anymore and at the end the author makes up for it. you just can't hate it. I wasn't sure at first but now I truly regret not reading it sooner. pleased to see it in the top 10.
This anime clearly is the best. Words are just to short to describe it. I seriously judge female characters because I don't like them making us females look weak and as idiots but god... the female character doesn't let you down. There are so may many valuable themes here. The struggle to stay true to yourself, the difficulties of overcoming fear and many more. Some people may argue that its just titans killing humans but If you actually focus on pretty much everything else that is not the killing you can see that is not the case. To end this review let me tell ya, the anime is not gonna sugarcoat anything, It will make you feel as if you were in their reality.
I'm surprised that this is the tenth on the list. Attack on Titan is the first ever anime I've watched, and my favorite. I've watched many other animes, like Naruto, Fairy Tail, Tokyo Ghoul, Death Note, One Piece, One Punch Man and more, but Attack on Titan is on a whole over level. Firstly, the animation is absolutely beautiful. The detail is precise, and is animated in a very clear way. Secondly, the characters. I'm sure we can all agree that characters are extremely important in anime. The deepness of each character and the past of each character makes us love them even more. They all have a main problem, the titans, but their own difficulties and obstacles gives Attack on Titan a more touching vibe. The development of each character is also something that should be taken into consideration, seeing as the character development is amazing. Thirdly, the whole story. It's original, unique, nothing like any other. The story hooks you in, leaves you wanting more. Each episode makes you ...more
There's also no ridiculous, gimicky/themed titans that go on at length about how their specialty is vegetables and they're going to blast you with their carrot cannon. When a titan bites of a guy's arm it doesn't take half the episode to tell you what chewing technique it's going to use and then the rest of the episode to go into a flashback about how it devoted it's life to developing this technique ever since it was a baby and then another episode charging his bite move and then another episode taking a bite and then another episode telling everyone to prepare to view his spectacular chewing methods and then a single episode for each level of his chewing technique (the number of levels is inversely proportional to the ability of the writer for some reason). - Almosteverythingsucks
Shingeki No Kyojin is actually one of the best animes I've seen. It's unique in a very cool way. And as someone said in a review on the back of one of the mangas; It's basically like a Japanese version of the Walking Dead. It takes place in such a dark time and it has a really great and tragic story. I love the characters too. Unlike some action animes they manage to give the characters such a human and realistic reactions to things. I just love it and no offense to the other animes above it because some of them I do enjoy (possibly a lot) but I think Shingeki no Kyojin should be higher up in the rankings. It's such an amazing anime.
Best anime ever! Well thought-out and original plotline. Amazing characters with true emotions and believable back stories. Literally, you end up respecting all of the characters and understand their actions.
It has amazing graphics and ideas that aren't found in other animes.
Oh, and what matter's most: Levi!
This anime has only 9 episodes so far, but even so this anime is so amazing:the animation, the story, and the characters are so beautifully displayed.
An exciting steam punk journey that challenges the core of humanity. The soundtrack that goes along with this show incredible. You'll want to listen to it again and again. Not only that but the animation is flawless as well. Incredibly unique and appealing to the eye. Character development is terrific unfortunately you lose some pretty fast. There is a ton of mystery involved as well as fantastic fight scenes. I have never wanted to know what would happen next more than in this show. "To defeat a monster you must abandon your humanity"
It was the first anime I ever watched and I came into it unsure of what it even was. My best friend and boyfriend both had watched it. I'm not going to lie, I ended up watching it so I could relate to by boyfriend. My best friend told me for at least a year that I needed to watch it and at a sleepover she forced me to watch the first episode...and from that point on I was HOOKED! I love the suspense and emotions behind the story. I have since watched several other animes and I would definitely recommend this show to anyone!
This anime was the first I ever watched, and I must say that it set extremely high standards for every other one I have watched so far. The artwork is beautiful, most of the characters are extremely lovable (such as Potato Girl and Krista), and it all ties back to reality with a plot that makes you question life and how we will all be living 2000 years from now. This anime may be gruesome, but in no time you will be pulled in and will have to watch more of it.
It's a superb anime with a different kind of feel to it-- it doesn't have the crisp, vibrant colors of anime that is more of the usual norm, which reflects the somber tone of the anime itself. Shingeki no Kyojin details a story of love, hatred, friendship, revenge and determination with an intensely powerful soundtrack which will draw you right in into the world of Eren, his friends, and the Titans.
This anime easily made my top 5 list.
Personally I am not that into anime but Attack on Titan is a master piece of story telling. The characters are rich and the action is intense and the plot is incredible with ever increasing odds and plot twist, just when you think you know where the story's headed it shows you that you were wrong. Ten minutes into the first episode and things are already very intense and by the 3rd-4th episode it gets even more intense. Attack on Titan makes you feel all of the emotions the characters are feeling especially the terror, horror and fear. Just absolutely amazing.
Best anime I have ever seen! Attack on Titan is certainly better than any other anime I have ever seen in my entire life, and that includes Fairy Tail. Unlike some animes where they bring a few dead characters back, Attack on Titan does not (except for a few special occasions). Dead means dead, and that's one of the reasons I loved Attack on Titan. If you have never watched this, you cannot call yourself an anime fan.
Beautiful and awesome. Shingeki no Kyojin has a very good plot, unique and deep. The art is superb and as well as its dramatic musical score. To be honest, it is one of the most amazing and heart-wrenching anime series that I've seen so far. It gives a lot of impact and each of its characters has a very good character development. Shingeki no Kyojin deserves to be included in the top ten greatest anime of all time.
Interesting lore, the show keeps asking questions after answering a few, thus expanding the depth of the lore with every single episode, and keeps your interests and curiosity on a high level in both seasons.(season 3 is coming in a few months, thank the gods! ) There are no fillers thankfully. The characters are ok, and the female ones are not over sexualized. The animation is exceptionally beautiful. My only negatives about the show are: Sometimes over the top drama, and the existence of some really unrealistic and annoying characters, like Krista(SPOILER: historia) or sasha.
Attack on titan is the best anime in my opinion because it has such great drawings, great music, of course great characters *ahem levi*, and an awesome storyline. And it has so many plot twists, you would expect something, and it is completely different! But it isn't just great action scenes and stuff. It has good quotes and reminders of things. This anime is quite addicting. 10,000,000/10 would DEFINITELY recommend
To be honest, AOT feels amazing to be a part of. Like, the show is amazing and the characters are cool not to mention the plot twist (I won't spoil, don't worry).
Wait, is saying there is a plot twist a spoiler? I'm so confused.
Anyway, it's not just the show. Anyone who has experienced the fan community knows that they take the characters and concepts and then make them light hearted. Hilarious and there is so many ships sailing, I can hardly see the sea beyond them. (See what I did there? )
It's fun to be a part of and the Eren and Levi ships are everywhere. There is no escape.
I love this show, the characters are so well developed and perfect with the storyline. Between the grotesque and beautiful scenes, the suspense of what character will betray or be devoured it's just so luring. Don't get me started on the titans! The story has good plot twists that get people in a knot, and there's so much detail put in this work. This show deserves a better spot than 8th.
