Top Ten Animes That Made You Cry

The Contenders: Page 2

21 Tokyo Magnitude 8.0

The last episode was the saddest. I cried for a good half hour after the series ;-;

This anime is so worth watching and worth the tears I cried for a week or more

Episode 8-finale will make you cry like a baby. Especially on the last parts.

Its Super Sad, All the feels were had

22 Wolf's Rain Wolf's Rain Wolf's Rain is an anime series created by writer and story editor Keiko Nobumoto and produced by Bones Studio.

I don't know why this is not on the top. I think most people haven't watched it but if you you just can't stop crying in the last two episodes

If you haven't seen it, watch it. From beginning to end, and I dare you not to choke towards the end. I rank this in my top 5, probably 2-3 by he side of Neon Genesis Evangelion and Naruto Shippudon. I think One piece had a good story with Luffy & Ace as well

23 Wolf Children Wolf Children

Seriously, if you haven't watched this TWO HOUR MOVIE yet, you need to. Some people might have a problem with the more "traditional" and "realistic" art style, but if you can get past that and to the end, the reward is well worth your time.

It's sad because the main character, Hana, a 19-year-old college student lost her father and then later on she met a man who is actually a werewolf. They had two kids and then he died. Losing a loved one is very depressing.

This made me cry so much in sad and happy tears. At least things worked out in the end.

Best movie ever

24 Bleach Bleach

Bleach is one of the best anime I've ever seen. It made me cry like a baby a few times but it also made me laugh. I like almost everything about it except for the fillers :/ I wish they could just bring back the anime :( The manga is good but I prefer anime.

I believe that bleach was the first anime I watched. And I honestly couldn't have asked for anything better than it. So many laughs. So many tears. So much love for this anime.

I think Bleach would be tied up with One Piece but the thing is that One Piece is more bizarre so it isn't as sad.

The movie made me cry..
So hard...
I feel like I want to watch it again
...by the way
Why is this #21 on this list?.?

26 Please Teacher!
27 Dragon Ball GT Dragon Ball GT

This is the best manga I've read since my childhood. While watching it, it feels like the characters are just like someone we know from our life and feel the excitement and sadness in their battles and lives.

Dragon Ball GT should be much higher, because the end is so heartbreaking. Anyone who is a fan of Dragon Ball surely cried at the end. This was the ending of all Goku adventures, and I still miss them :(

But you have to watch 1000 episodes to get there

The end of DBGT was so sad! Also the movie 'A Hero's Legacy'. It's like watching Goku grows up, makes friends, gradually gets stronger, then eventually has to say goodbye : ( Seeing Goku leave woth Shenron in the end along with the sad music of 'Dan Dan Hikareteku' truly drove me into tears : ( - Goku02

28 YuYu Hakusho

Old, great, amazing story.

29 Ai Yori Aoshi Ai Yori Aoshi Ai Yori Aoshi is a Japanese seinen manga written and illustrated by Kou Fumizuki and serialized from 1998 to 2005 in Hakusensha's Young Animal.
30 Plastic Memories Plastic Memories

This anime is one of 2 out of all the ones on the list that actually got me to cry. I could tell from the beginning that it was going to end how it did. I tried to not get involved in it, but somewhere along the line it just got so god. Then the end came, with tears, lots of tears. If your wondering the only other anime I have seen that made me cry was angel beats in the end credits as they all fade away in the order they disappeared in... Not even that matched the emotional train wreck of this one though.

2nd saddest anime I've watched. I've seen the majority of these ones above here, almost all of them don't have as many feels

Just watch it... You'll see what I mean. Maybe I'm just soft but every single episode made me cry.

This is one of the saddest things ever I cried myself to sleep after watching it ;-;

31 Death Parade Death Parade Death Parade is a 2015 Japanese anime television series created, written, and directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa and produced by Madhouse.

This should be number 1 Because it has amazing plot and the animation is good... This anime Deserves a second season But I think it is hard for the creators to make a second season Because the female protagonist is gone... I hope you watch this anime... This anime deserves a 2nd season or a Prequel... Hope you guys like this...

An absolute masterpiece, and it's only 12 episodes. Some episodes are very sweet and relaxing, a couple are very dark, the last 2 (especially the last one) are INTENSELY sad. Trying not to spoil but one of the main characters has some intense flashbacks to her life before arriving at Quindecim and I sobbed like crazy.

With all these characters and life stories, it is easy for people to see themselves in that situation, and also feeling the feelings of the characters in their emotional state.Their anger, fear, guilt, sadness, and love are all so real in Death Parade. It is my number one qualifier since viewers can bond with the characters in ONLY TWELVE EPISODES. - WitheredBonnie

Loved it dude
Cried a total ocean of tears in the end
It is just so awesome
Please watch it your views will totally change

32 Charlotte Charlotte

I liked this anime a lot but I expected more. It hasn't got the 'heart-breaking' touch the creators intended to create.

My favorite anime that makes you cry after angel beats

33 Fruits Basket Fruits Basket

Question: Why do people think NARUTO and BLEACH are 'cry-able' and not Fruits Basket?
Answer: Because they haven't read the manga. The Sohmas' pasts are worth shedding tears for and Tohru's attitude make me cry. Even the last page was so sentimental, with the juuni-shi toys and the altar pictures and stuff! - SapphBlood

I cried at almost all the character's back stories! Plus, the last episode made me cry for hours. Most of the anime is very sad, but if you like comedy, I suggest you watch Fruit Basket. Plus, I cried like a baby while watching this!

Fruits Basket was the perfect mix of depressing drama hilarious comedy. It had me crying so much. The Sohmas had a tragic past and Tohru's ability to make others around her feel good is really inspiring. Although both of her parents are gone, she's still the happiest character in the show. It really made me cry at the ordeals that everyone had to go through.

This is an amazing anime and manga it is so well set out how is it in 33rd place? it should be in the top five AT LEAST! this was the first anime that ever made me cry and the second was assassination classroom (for obvious reasons). I am a person who doesn't cry unless something is super sad so for me to cry in this anime tells me it is an awesome one.

34 Nagi no Asukara Nagi no Asukara

Sad, cute, fun, beautiful, and emotional. The plot had you changing your ships every time and the suspense was so real. The opening of the 2nd part has so much feels, it really feels like you lost someone close to you or just being heartbroken in general. Really recommend watching it.

Also, the main character Manaka is VERY similar to Menma in Anohana in both personality and looks, which I also recommend watching too.

Great story

I was debating between Anohana, Madoka Magica, Angel Beats, Clannad and Nagi no Asukara, but I ended up voting for this. PMMM kinda got me scared so I eliminated that one. Angel Beats and Anohana hit me, but not as much as Clannad. I eventually chose this mainly because of Kaname x Sayu and how they were always the ones being left out, and also because of Chisaki who was afraid to change and accept her feelings for Tsumugu, because she thought that she'll be betraying her friends who were asleep. I imagined what I would be like without the person I love for years, not knowing when they would come back, and I figured, it might be worse than your loved one dying because at least you know that you can't see them anymore, where to Nagiasu, they didn't have a single clue on to when they'll come back. Miuna and Akari's relationship also hit me so that got it some points.

It was truly amazing. There was a lot of plot twists and you would feel like family while watching this anime. you would feel sad for every character and wouldn't know which side to go towards and who you shoukd support. the ending was very good too. and when a character realizes something it really touches the the heart because uts situational and dramatic irony in most fo the episodes. I thknk this should at least be tenth.

35 Nana

This should be so much higher on this list. I've cried so much to this show. Sometimes I didn't even know why I was crying. Some things seemed so little and then later became such extreme plot devices... this show is an emotional ninja. The start of the series is so deceiving to the rest of it.

I've never cried this much to anything before. It's crazy. As in many episodes straight of just tears.

Nana... The most intense romantic anime... And great emphasis on true friendship... Very emotional.

NANA made me cry so much! And I wasn't a kid anymore! - dianajorge2

I think the anime itself is not that sad but you will appreciate the efforts made by "Divine Brother" especially to its last part of season 3.. It made me cry.

This anime was such a well made one. All of the events were connected together and you could relate this to a real-life situation. The soundtrack was also very selective and contained beautiful music. Not to mention the characters. They were above perfect. The character development was also more than enough. This anime made me cry every time I watched it. Even though it is only 12 episodes, it's worth a watch.

This is my favorite anime ever, purely because of the way I connected with the characters. At some point, I hated most of the characters, but in the end you have to love them. There's always a deeper story behind the way that they act, and it will bring the tears big time. I cried so much, and there's honestly nothing I would change about it, because then it simply wouldn't be Madoka Magica anymore.

I thought that Puella Magi Madoka Magica was such a great anime! It had excellent character development and beautiful soundtracks. I cried whenever I watched this anime because you could relate this to real life situations. This anime deserves to be one of the top anime. Even though it only has 12 episodes, it's worth a watch, And for those who've watched,

" Don't forget. Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember her, you are not alone."

I can't describe in words how this anime affected me - TwilightKitsune

38 Pokemon

I watched this movie in the cinema twice when I was younger. And I balled each time at the Pokemon crying scene.

The Movie... All the Pokemon crying, Ash turned to stone, Pikachu using his thunderbolt to wake him up. Couldn't help but cry.

I remember watching the movie

Spoiler:

Ash almost died
And pikachu cried
Making me cry as well

It's so sad
