The Contenders: Page 3
Gone before it's time, with the passing of Shannon. Such talent. We are only left to imagine how truly great their music could have progressed. Exploding it's beauty onto the airways. Each song is now a treasure.
Favorite band ever rip Shannon Hoon
Most underrated 90s band by far! They combined 90s grunge and alternative rock with psychedelic jam band music of the 70s. Most underrated 90s band by far! It's a shame most people only know No Rain. They have so many other great songs: Tones of Home, I Wonder, Sleepyhouse, etc. What a talented band!
RIP Shannon Hoon.
One of the best industrial bands of all time.
Obviously the only pop diva to stay relevant from the era
Her debut single alone (... Baby one more time) puts her right up there!
She only released 1 single in 1998 and 3-4 more in 1999 BUT that already made her memorable and superpopular. Like it or not, Britney was really iconic
She is perfectV 4 Comments
Superb entertainer who possesses a very sharp mind - ask anyone who has worked with him. He's overcome some very tough personal battles, not easy in the business he's in and is today a very blessed man both professionally and personally
Became massive in the 1990s and just kept on going
By the end of the 1990s was definitely number oneV 1 Comment
His voice was unparalleled. Greatest artist of the 90's in my opinion
This man should be well inside the top 20.
Absolute favorite artist of all time!
The band your parents didn't want you too listen to but you had to
They were more of an 80's band but they released good music in the 90's too such as Ordinary World, Medazzaland ( Album ) etc..
Sandra was more popular in the 80's BUT she recorded awesome music in the 90's too. Popularity is not everything.
Singles: "One More Night", "Johnny Wanna Live", "Hiroshima", "I Need Love", "(Life May Be) A Big Insanity", "Nights in White Satin", "Won't Run Away", "Don't Be Aggressive".
"Son of a Time Machine" was a great promo single on radio stations
In the 90's he gave us hits like "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You", "Please Forgive Me", "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman? ", "All for Love", "Let's Make a Night to Remember", "Cloud Number Nine", "Thought I'd Died and Gone to Heaven", "Can't Stop This Thing We Started", "The Only Thing That Looks Good on Me Is You" etc
Bryan is a phenomenal artist and perfect songwriter!
Really one of the most popular artist who has fan all over the world. That shows his greatness
everything i do
summer of 69 - jwileson
George is definitely one of the most unique artists. His 90s music was amazing.
Just listen to these singles - "Praying for Time", "Jesus to a Child", "Freedom! '90", "Too Funky", "Fastlove", "Outside", "Waiting for That Day", "Heal the Pain", "Cowboys and Angels", "Spinning the Wheel"
Real Queen of Voice! No one could beat her.
Biggest voice / lot of number ones / 7 consecituve number ones / all albums sold over 20 million / a huge succesfull movie the bodyguard
Shania shone in the 90's. Everyone wanted to be like her.
Most popular tracks - "You're Still the One", "That Don't Impress Me Much", "From This Moment On", "Man! I Feel Like a Woman! ", "Don't Be Stupid (You Know I Love You)", "The Woman in Me (Needs the Man in You)", "God Bless the Child", "Any Man of Mine"...
Seriously? Why isn't blur on this list! Parklife and the Great Escape we're highlights of Britpop, Modern Life is Rubbish is a vastly underrated album pre Britpop, and their self titled and 13 albums reinvented their sound and only proved how far a band can come in one decade of being around and having 6 albums in that time. Definitely more that just 'Song 2'
Great music (not to mention they are much better than Oasis) - look for songs like "Song 2," "Beetlebum," "Coffee & T.V.," "Girls and Boys," "There's No Other Way," etc.V 1 Comment
The most legendary versatile singer in the world. He has got absolutely an AMAZING VOICE. He was able sing in several voices. He developed very very unique singing styles. He had dominated allover the India during this period as the greatest ghazal composer & singer, classical singer, multilingual play back singer, stage performer & etc. He had formed a two men band " Colonial Cousins" and released an award winning music album. He had become one of the pioneers of Indian pop & fusion music.
Even if they were not sexy as some have said, to me they were the sexiest thing (not just beauty but the whole package). Boy bands dominated the music industry so it was nice to have a change. Coupled with their beauty, the chemistry between them in terms of the music was heavenly and they produced some friggin awesome tracks (I listen to them today and still haven't lost the feeling). Most of them being hits and they dominated the world for some time in the 90s. I mean even people hiding under rocks would have heard of them lol.
They only released 2 studio albums in the 90's and those albums made history! I know, some people dislike their music but to each their own. You just can't deny a huge impact/influence they made.
Viva Forever, Spice Up Your Life, Mama, 2 Become 1, Wannabe, Who Do You Think You Are, Stop, Say You'll Be There are great songs
My personal favorite non-single track - Never Give Up on the Good Times
WHAT!? The spice girls showed me girl power since I was bullied a lot. Their songs don't get oldV 2 Comments
YOU ALL DON'T KNOW THE 90s AT ALL! The 90s was dominated by pop music. It's hard to admit but it was the truth. Just face the facts. And Christina Aguilera deserves to be on the list. But if there should be a No. 1, I think it's pretty clear it's either The Backstreet Boys or Madonna. - JazHoney3
She is sexy beautiful hot and a dam good voice.
