Artists That Hated Their Own Popular SongsSometimes, artists aren’t so happy with the results of a song. It’s pretty interesting because most of these songs were big hits. Here are ten songs that were hated by they’re artist.
The Top Ten
I agree with this. I remember Court once said in the interview that he was surprised how popular it become. - annaeverson
Even I don't like this song. Too generic and boring - TheDarkOne_221b
Kurt didn’t want the song becoming popular. - Userguy44
Smells Like Teen Spirit is everyone’s favorite Nirvana song it seems like. But Nirvana isn’t so nice to this song. They don’t like it because of how many fans praise it, and MTV pumping it into fans heads. - RadioHead03
I don't think it's everyone's favorite Nirvana song, almost every Nirvana fan hates it with a passion. The most common fan favorites are Lithium, In Bloom and Heart-Shaped Box - Alkadikce
I don't blame Led Zeppelin for hating this. Stairway to Heaven is a drawn out, boring song that has rambling lyrics that are about nothing.
Interesting. Isn't it the most praised song ever though?
Stairway To Heaven is a fan favorite to many people, but Stairway To Heaven isn’t loved by Led Zeppelin. Some of the band members call it a “That bloody wedding song.” When Led Zeppelin’s lead drummer
John Bonham died in 1980, Plant described the song as a major division between him, and the band’s guitarist, and composer Jimmy Page. Plus, during Led Zeppelin’s reunion concert in 2007, they refused to play Stairway To Heaven. - RadioHead03
The Beastie Boys hate this song because it was a misinterpretation, and it left a bad taste in the band’s mouth. Because many listeners of the song took the parody as face value as a party anthem. - RadioHead03
Johnny Greenwood admitted that Creep was a wimpy song. He even admitted that he was trying to f- - - Up the song with loud disordered guitar hits. The band also calls the song “crap” as a parody name. - RadioHead03
Frank Sinatra is amazing - Pokemonfan10
Oh, yeah. I've read this before. Lol - Misfire
Frank Sinatra described this song as a “piece of s- - -.” And “the worst f- - -ing song.” Why? Well Ol’ Blue Eyes didn’t really like it because of his fans approval. Fans wanted Sinatra to play the song at his concerts. When the fans asked, Sinatra shook his head in disbelief. - RadioHead03
Slash hates the opening and characteristic riff. - MattAffterburner
You might remember this song from The Breakfast Club, one of the most iconic 80’s movies. But according to Charlie Burchill(one of the band members of Simple Minds) the band said the song didn’t suit them because they had delusions of it being Ultra-hip. - RadioHead03
The band don't actually hate the song, it just wasn't written by them. They changed it up a bit to suit their sound, but they never actually hated it. - truckturner
Who honestly cares about Britpop anyways? Nobody says it had a major impact on music, and they are right. Only Oasis, Blur and the Verve had a hit in the US and worldwide. Absolutely none of these bands with the exception of those three I just mentioned (even though the Verve are one-hit wonders) were popular worldwide. Britpop never stood a chance against grunge. It was basically Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden and Stone Temple Pilots against Oasis and Blur (no Verve because, like I said, one-hit wonders, so they don't qualify).
Well this is the worst song of 1990s so yeah I agree with Liam even though his vocals are one of main reasons this song is a trainwreck. - christangrant
Is Oasis really known for anything else? - 24601
I actually liked that song.
This is the best song of hers yet,
So she needs to stop being a slut. - Critideal
Miley Cyrus didn’t like her popular song because she admits that this song was meant to promote her clothing line, and didn’t expect it to get popular. She also admitted that pop music wasn’t something she blast in her free time. - RadioHead03
I think RJD mellowed his attitude later in life out of respect for fans (and he was apparently great to his fans), but rumour has it he originally wanted to destroy the recording of it. Shame, 'because it's a great song. - truckturner
Don't know why dio doesn't wanted this song to be on the album. - EzP2
Not only Madonna doesn’t like Like A Virgin, she doesn’t like Holiday either. She won’t sing those songs unless someone payed $30 million dollars for her to do it. - RadioHead03
Mandy Moore Hates Candy because when she got into acting she took a look at her past music. And she absolutely hated it. She even wants to give a refund to people that bought her first 2 albums. - RadioHead03
They still like the song, but Tyler has admitted in a concert that they thought the song overstayed it's welcome.
I actually enjoy this song. Why did PATD hate it? - RadioHead03
It's true that this song is hated by queen, though I can't understand why. Who else has written a song about battling an ogre?
Why did they hate it? - Userguy44
I love that song
Popular? - Misfire
He refuses to perform this song ever again. In fact, he hasn't performed it in 13 years. He was once noticeably upset for winning an award for this song and even made the statement in his acceptance speech that's he wanted to win the award for another song of his. "My Love" - RobertWisdom
She HATES performing this! I think I agree with her in a way...
The lead singer deliberately sang it badly he hated the song so much...and that was the only take they ever did. Brilliant. - truckturner
Even Cupcakke knows how awful her songs are. - Userguy44
Umm... that title is... uhh... - Misfire
James didn't like this song and he never wanted to play it live. It also is the weakest song on Ride The Lightning. He even said he wished that they never made it. Edit: I just realise this song isn’t actually popular. - Userguy44
It is debatable what you call a "popular" song just the fact that this song is of a an album that sold several million could be enough to say that it is a popular song although not as popular as most of the other songs on this list. - Powell
She said of the original recording that it "sounds horrible" she liked some of the covers though. - Powell
